It’s Rob who sings it and the joke is that he actually is using the far less common correct pronunciation (different word from the musical term forte but with same spelling) and if he just used the more common pronunciation he would have gotten a rhyme
@@eggshellfan406 1. It's Joe who sings that verse. Rob sings most of the song but if you can tell their voices apart, you can tell that Joe sung the part about formulaic verse. I don't know why he only sung that verse and didn't just stick to harmonies like Zubin but I like it. 2. It's incorrect in this context. He would've rhymed and had more syllables so for him it would've been the correct pronunciation. Plus in general forte is said "fort-tay" for commonly.
@@project_letters yeah now that I give it another listen that sure is Joe on that verse. But I do definitely believe the joke with the line is that he’s saying forte the original way when the more common “incorrect” way would have been a rhyme.
Is that a tally hall reference? Once in class, the philosophy teacher said: "our mind is like a labyrinth" i immediately screamed "IS THAT A TALLY HALL REFERENCE?" the class started laughing at me for some reason. It was true, it was a tally hall reference, wasn't it? Another time i was in geography class and she said "today we are gonna learn about storms and springs!" I aggressively said "is that a tally hall reference? And everyone started laughing at me for no reason. It was true. Another time i was in history class and the teacher wanted to show us a quick video, so she asked "turn the lights off, please!" I immediately asked: "is that a tally hall reference?" I was sent to the principal for some reason. But it was true.❤

3:19 Ok I’m not sure anyone has pointed this out yet, but my friend told me this after she listened to the song The verse after the gibberish is actually a haiku “There thats sufficient” 5 syllables “I wrote a haiku for you” 7 syllables “Well I tried at least” 5 syllables So yeah I just thought that was cool and I wanted to share it :)
For some reason I have no memory of this song ever existing whatsoever, I even checked the album’s list again only to see it was always there. It doesn’t even sound familiar to me whatsoever and I’ve binged mmmm a million times and know all the other songs off by heart. I have no idea how this happened.
i would love to see your on take on the meaning of hymn for a scarecrow it would be very interesting taking how you analize tally hal songs. also some songs that i think are very weird in their meaning like Taken for a ride or cannibal(i don´t believe its just about the willing victim of a cannibal)
"Get off the stage😡🤬😡" that person will most likely go to the tally hills and find the tally bells which when rung will give tally judgement, for their sake i hope they dont find the tally bells "Do the bannana song" this man has good taste but for the wrong resons he gets the tally calls which is when you get 1 random call from each of the members of tally hall and it can be good or bad
Fun fact: I literally just finished a school project where you had to turn each stanza of a song into A haiku i, of course, as the Tally Hall fan that I am, did Ruler of Everything. (Will update when the teacher gives me my grade on it)
I love when tal completely overcomplicates TH songs. Loved the video but I'm pretty sure this song is just a funny gag by getting really close to writing a haiku the entire time but always adding an extra syllable.
Hey there’s this music artist by the name chonny jash you might have heard of him but he makes covers of tally hall songs but adds his own lyrics and it’s really cool
i sat down a bit ago and thought of what this song meant, and this is basically what i thought, but im still a little stumped on why they actively use the audience in the song itself. the only other example of this is welcome to tally hall and that comes nowhere near this kind of activeness of the audience. i wonder what it means maybe im reading too much into it but still, this is the only song that does this
I like the second broken haiku cause its "maybe youre beyond ancient asian poetry or maybe its just me" meaning "me" is the only thing keeping "you" from being perfect
Yeah that’s the joke in the song, that he actually knows the original correct pronunciation but by using that instead of the more common one he fails to make the rhyme
I remember seeing a photo of a newspaper clipping where each band member wrote haikus. I only distinctly remember Zubin's. "One two three four five, six seven eight nine ten ele-, ven, twelve, pizza"

forté isn't the strictly "correct" pronunciation. It was historically pronounced with a silent E, but enough people say it in the way that rhymes with way that it's the most common pronunciation. you will sometimes see pedantic people correct others who say "forté", so it makes the line in haiku funnier: he could have made a rhyming haiku if only he had just decided that "rhymes are my forté"

How poetic
