Hoping you all enjoy cruising around Hawaii. 🌺 I’ve been on the Pride Of America twice and although I loved both trips, I would definitely recommend a balcony cabin; the views are stunning. On our first trip Kīlaue’a was actively weupting and the flows had reached the ocean near Kalapana and the southeast flank of Hawai’i island, making for some gorgeous views of fire-meeting-water, especially at night. The captain made four passes (two for each side of the ship) so everyone could enjoy.
I think this is the very best walkthrough of the pride of america among all the videos that the youtube recept put out here and the travel agencies. Congratulations for doing such great job
😂 I made my appearance behind you at 43:25! 🥰 I had just clocked in for the wonderful, hectic Saturday shift and I forgot you were going to be shooting. I was in Shore Excursions and your input on BOOKING EXCURSIONS AHEAD is RIGHT ON POINT! I can’t stress that enough! ❤ And book months in advance too. Keep in mind that some excursions can get cancelled if there are not enough people participating. Also, there is plenty to see and do on your own if you PLAN AHEAD! 🥰
A lot of our guests did back to back sailings! Just make sure when you put your card on file, you let finance know it’s the same card for both cruises!
Thank you, and many thanks to Tamara for helping me book this ship. I will need to watch this again before we go. Thank you for another great tour video.
The Conservatory (when the Pride of America was to begin her commission) was originally a Humidor...where folks went to smoke their cigars. I was a Res employee and we learned this on our Fam tour!! I had also worked onboard the ss Independence & ss Constitution who pioneered the 7-day cruise of the Hawaiian Islands in the 80's. As the line dissolved, it was great to see the Pride of America come in and keep the Island cruises going. I did also sail the Norwegian Star early on before the Pride arrived and was US flagged...it was interesting to have to sail a very long way to Kiribati just to touch foreign land for 6 hours and turn around and sail right back. I do love days at sea though, so I really didn't mind...plus was great to visit an extremely remote island in the Pacific!
Thanks for doing this tour Danny… seems like a different ship to every vlog we have watched, now much more excited for the ship itself for our October 2024 cruise 😊
Hey Danny and Taylor. I’ve never heard of this Norwegian ship Pride of America. Guess it went by another name before the revamp. Hawaii was the best destination vacation of my life. Would like to experience cruising as well. Gonna watch and enjoy. Thanks in advance and see you next video.
Ship name never changed from day one. There is a great you tube video of the history of cruising Hawaii. NCL originally had ships registered for Hawaii cruises. Almost bankrupted the company in the early 2000’s. Sky and Jade were the other two ships that were renamed when pulled from Hawaii.
Most of these restaurants are still closed. If you look at the website several say they are still closed. I read they are having issues finding staff since most of the ship has to be American and they are having issues finding the people to work. I’m hoping they are open when I go on this ship at the end of April.
The conservatory is such an odd place... it was supposed to be a dome above the lobby atrium, but when they extended the ship in Germany, there had to be stronger structural support in the area.
What is a good hour to board the ship on Saturday? Do we get a special dinner every night or do we need to make any dinner reservations? Those places you can eat by the pool, they have food that you can just grab anytime of the day for free or do you have to order it? Are the Cabana's extra? What's the best Luau to go to? They say don't book through NCL. For seating on the buffet, can you just sit anywhere? Is the steakhouse extra or do you need a reservation?
Is this a baby friendly cruise? Is it recommended for a couple with a 1 year old baby? Or are there better vacations options? Thanks for anyone that answer
Thank you for the awesome tour of POA. My friends & I are booked on her in June 2024. We are learning all we can, in the meantime, about the ship & Hawaii. Can you recommend the best luau? We want to do one, but there seem to be so many options. TIA!
SON ? OMG you have a baby I only know about your little girl. Oh baby Danny that's so sweet congratulations to you and your wife I'm sure the baby's been around and I'm the last to know lol
@@Mmmmm83838 lol that’s what I was! It was over all personally a good experience, you just have to push yourself sometimes as the work schedule is all over the place as a bar waiter and pretty demanding physically. Training in Maryland was actually really cool and they’ll stop at a Walmart on the last day I believe after your first pay day so you can get last min stuff for Hawaii (or at least they did at the time). But come mainly prepared/packed for your 5 month clothes, etc... if you start training soon, you’ll be in the cold for training in piney point so pack cold weather clothes it’s nippy. 😂 I started my days as a bad waiter juicing at the buffet bar at like 7 am-10 or something like that, then a couple of hours off, then a 1-7 shift and then a late Night Shift floating at bars that need more service… then get off very late sometimes even 1/2 am to start back up again the next morning. 7 days a wk of work for 5 months straight. After 3 months I got pretty exhausted and caught a flight home at a upcoming port (Maui). But it was so unique and a really cool experience I’ll have with me and met some truly amazing people. Lots of interesting people. Plus I came home with a few thousand saved. Advice- Make sure to show love to laundry staff, don’t get too drunk while coming back to the ship (they breathalyze) and fit as much fun/scenic stuff you can in your little time off (like going to waterfalls, road to hana etc). Bulk up on toiletries and store in your cabin so you don’t spend so much time running errands while in port lol. Have a blast! 🤗
@@PpP-mo3if this is so helpful, thank you so much! I’m kinda scared of getting burned out but I also work 60-70 hours a week in a place not as beautiful as Hawaii. I’m really looking forward to everything :)
What's the age limit on the teen room? Any flexibility on the age? Do they have any special treatment for handicap, as my daughter is having ACL surgery
I'm sorry but I feel like when you say redundant/ redundancy it sounds like something bad. Maybe it's because most people use it for describing bad things like saying that it was so redundant or something I don't know I'm sorry I love you :)
Not sure how this came up in my recommended but I went on this cruise in 2014. I was not really impressed. Food was meh. Maybe it wasn’t as good as it could be because I was a minor.

Going in June and definitely got the balcony suite 😂😂😂

In my opinion, no one do’s a ship tour better that you two 🙏 I am liking this ship and could see a B2B next year .

Taking this cruise for our 45th anniversary!
I've been really intrigued by this ship for a few years, so glad to have stumbled upon your video tonight. She looks beautiful!

Thanks, for the fantastic tour. This is actually my dream cruise.

You just saved me money from the spa. I was expecting more compared to other spas.
I'm thinking about this cruise for my 40th birthday next year. I want to do something other than the Caribbean.

Excellent video. This ship looks amazing and lots of dining options
Got so many great memories from my cruise on this in 2017 Loved every part of it can’t wait to get back on another cruise cheers form Australia.🍻
How is the water when traveling? It was rough in the bay of alaska when we went last summer. That would be my only deterrent. Love your videos! Thanks
Thanks for this. Actually requested it on another video.

Is there a hidden hot tub? If so, where is it located? Read that it's near the starboard but where exactly is that?

Hoping to go on this cruise this summer. Which side of the ship would be best for our balcony room to be on the view the ports as we arrive?
Are the specialty restaurants open for lunch also ?
It’s very hot in the summer . 3-5 my family had to go into the air .
Hope you had a great cruise!

I wonder how many people in your party when you make these videos?
Why doesn't this ship have an unlimited full open bar??
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any cruise has an unlimited full open bar. You have to buy a drink package or pay per drink.

No redundancy is a great as long as it is something that many people utilize. Otherwise there would be only one bar onboard... that would be very bad.
