He shares so much wisdom that constantly challenges how we interact with our environment. I love how he constantly gives people the power to be self-serving/self-fulfilling without being a threat or a harm to others. He tells us to prioritize our growth and development but reminds us to lead with kindness and generosity when dealing with other people. I admire James Hollis and his mind, and I’m so grateful to come across his teachings.
We had 35 years together - best friends, teaching massaging learning together. Very lucky to be loved deeply ❤️ and to love deeply. At night we slept in each other's arms. I miss him a lot since he passed last year.
I haven’t ever come across a person as wise as James Hollis. In terms of overall consciousness and also just so connected to the soul. Also so damn smart able to reach for all types of ideas and put them together as enlightening concepts.
Fabulous conversation. Dr Hollis is so wise. I was taking notes and couldn’t write fast enough 😅. If we have any enemy in life it’s the unquestioned power of the history within us. So profound.
This was a very insightful conversation. I am familiar with Yung, but haven't heard of James Hollis. He is such a brilliant speaker; he touched on many topics and issues that I have to contend with now. I am in my early 60s, at the intersection of Baby Boomer and Gen X, a very fascinating time to be born into. I see life from a certain "distance" of objectivity within my own subjective experience. Thank you Alex for making this video.
This conversation has connected the dots between so many conversations I've had with myself this year. I feel determined to express my inner journey. Thank you both for this, it's appreciated.
This is a brilliant insight we also share information on these topics but Dr. Hollis takes it to a whole new level especially his way of explaining! Amazing interview!💜 “Look at the patterns in your life”🧬
This was such a wonderful interview, THANK YOU - excellent guest AND interviewer. Alex, you'll make and excellent therapist! your questions are perceptive and deep.
Omg This is one of the most meaningful, memorable and brilliant conversations that will forever resonate with me! It reminds me to not to be complacent, always have space to grow and trust the process of my higher self to support me and teach me, giving me guidance when needed ❤Thank you Alex! You should definitely invite Dr Hollis again!
Wow. The interviewer is so young but has such deep wisdom in just his questioning. I feel hope for our future listening to this interview between a Silent Generation therapist and an inquisitive, humble Generation Z interviewer. Wonderfully done. 🎉
If gen z gets to the level of maturity of Dr Hollis 73, at say 30 which is now possible because of the internet and AI then we will move to the next level of consciousness and not be overwhelmed by AI.
Thank You so much Hollis. This is EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR TO UNDERSTAND THE PRESENT to hear overcome and CREATE MY FUTURE. THANK YOU SO MUCH STAY BLESSED STRONG AND HEALTHY. BLESSING UPON YOUR WHOLE LIFE.
Absolutely loved this! What a great interview and thank you so much for putting the key quotes in text on the screen so we could pause the video to write them down. So helpful 🙏
Interesting comment. I did listen to Jordon for awhile, but I think ego (from fame perhaps?) has gotten in the way of true intellectual reason and wisdom. I had to stop listening to his interviews. James Hollis seems to speak from knowledge, experience and introspection (which he touches upon). There were so many points that made entire sense to my life situations both past and present.
totally agree! Hollis is far more eloquent, less dogmatic/opinionated, and expresses more warmth even when addressing potentially confrontational issues such as engaging with one's own fear.
Wonderful decision you made, saved your life and brought you happiness you never experienced, Wow and u have a great supportive wife. Enjoy the remaining years of surprises.
at age 60, dreams really don’t impress me much. many are obvious where they originate from. mostly i recall them when ive had too much to eat/drink. mostly unresolved issues/desires that keep presenting themselves. more critical, imho is to come to terms/stop your anxiety and chill out. life isn’t that important, none of us are really that important
Perhaps instead of asking what the dream means, we could maybe ask what kind of meaning can I assign to this dream. Similarly in principal to the practice of finding the silver lining of our dark clouds, or using our pain to better ourselves. After all we are in a deep deep way the universe, both the light and the darkness, that which we want and that which we resist. So in a way every dream is just another facet of us.
It is not in me that trys to communicate with me, i am, the little me is in the big, me, the mind is in that big self and thinks that the big self is in me, the mind.... The me in the mind is a illusion, it is a picture we made about ourself but the picture is not the thing, the word is not the thing, you are nothing, no thing. Life always changing with no end, so knowing is impossible, every knowledge is incomplete, you are not messureable because life is free from messurement, free from bounderies or limits. Free yourself from all false pictures and questions about the illusion, youre mindself and you will see the illusions. There is no me AND fear, there is fear and a illusion called me trys to get rid of fear. Understand you are not different from what you experience. You are all that and nothing from it sametime. But better you see the nothingness side because there is the freedom you looking for
I heard someone say that your negative emotions are like a second grader that has to pee, if you don’t acknowledge it it will just keep getting louder till it makes a mess.
Good conversation here. Thanks! Consider checking out the book... "Lightning Thunder Cows... Countering the Myths of Big Death, Big Religion, Big Conflict, and All Other Fearful Big Ideas"
There is a concept in evolutionary biology called an epiphenomenon, which describes an unimportant by product of something important. E.g. our teeth are white, not because this makes them more functional, but simply because the are made from chalk. Dreams could similarly be an epiphenomenon, of the active brains attempt to save energy through the resting state we call sleep.
For one, our dreams are our minds' way of processing our emotions so, we are not completely overwhelmed by them. Our brain is a very complex piece of kit, a living processor, which uses sleep' time to defragg. Thats what I believe. Dreams are also a portal to the home of our soul and can be used by "God", for want of a word, to announce future events. There are too many instances of this to just write it off as mumbo jumbo. The mystery for me is, why are some people more intelligent than others? The quality of education we receive, from birth, plays a large part but, thats not all. Then theres common sense and critical' thinking. So important. Its OK to question everything. There are no difinitive or ultimate answers.
