Seems like instead of blocking the check with c3 White should play Bd2 with the idea of exchanging his bad Bishop for Black's good Bishop that leaves White with a grip on the dark squares.
Bd2 is really harmless, Black exchanges, plays ...Ne7, ...Nd7 and ...c5 with good play. The bishop on f5 is anything but bad and there in no white grip on the dark squares.
@@gmalexcolovic do you plan some sort of "extension courses" for ur simplified courses, especially e4, to show some other approaches like maybe italian game (or something else) and other approaches against the different answers black can play? That would be at least for me an intabuy to round up and extend my opening knowledge.
@@ZiemerJohannes That is not in the near-future plans with Chessable, but I will definitely offer various ideas here on my channel. A lot of people seem to like it and appreciate it, so I guess you're in luck, plus it's free. :)
First! I'm going to really enjoy this lesson since I exclusively play the caro-kann against 1.e4 ! :D
Thank you! Glad to hear it, it should be useful to know this line.

5:36 At my (low) level, white never ever captures on c5. They reinforce their d4-e5 pawns and I suffer in a cramped position.
Why do you suffer? Black's plan is easy, take on d4, castle, play ...Bb6 and at the appropriate moment the undermining ...f6. You should be fine.
@@gmalexcolovic I've been too afraid to push ...f6. I'll try it out - thanks!
@@weetabixharry Yes, do it! :)
Magnus *actually good* is an insult to the GOAT! None of us is worthy! 😆
Yeah, I guess it's so. I wrote "actually" because initially I thought it was rubbish. :)
