yes but when your searching for replacement parts, most people just generally refer to the screen as an LCD. we weren't being specific to what this phone has just using a general term most people are familiar with.
+H Kee There is only one earpiece speaker on top and one loud speaker on bottom. The other speaker looking grill they put is for the voice in mic where you speak into. Just like how the iphones have one speaker on mic on bottom. I would have preferred dual speakers and a mic somewhere else but oh well.
Do you think I can replace the charge port without using a microscope? I won't have access to a heat gun, only soldering gun? The only problem I can see is when it comes time to solder the pins going to the pads....
Three questions: Can the back of the ballistic nylon or leather models be pried open as easily? Can you take out the battery without removing the chip assembly? And does doing this void your warranty?
+Soundtallica in Chains Yea all the backs are held on with adhesive, its not too easy to take off, requires some work. You can take out the battery without taking out the motherboard but you would have less room to work with. Taking the back face cover off, I don't think would void your warranty but removing the screws to disassemble the phone would void your warranty.
+pwrdbykyank Thank you for the prompt reply! Now I have the reassurance I'll be able to replace the battery myself when it starts to go bad thanks to your video. This phone is awesome and is way too good to only use for 2 years!
+Leonardo Dell Valle It is possible but yes it is soldered onto the main board, so you would need to have soldering knowledge to de-solder the original one off and replace with new one.
+pwrdbykyank thanks for answering. you know the code or description of this piece, so I can google, I searched but not found nothing.I need to replace it because I think I broke some terminals of this slot, now I have no more access to sim card and also no access to sd card. thx.
it would be called a sim reader for xt1585 but I don't think they have the part available for it yet, you would have to either wait a month or so or call motorola and see if they can offer you a repair option for it
I followed the steps, but now the loudspeaker doesn't work. Everything else is fine. I don't see how that could be affected by changing the battery. Any suggestions?
The loud speaker has two gold contacts that touch the gold contacts on the main board which give it signal/power. Make sure they are not obstructed and that you have screwed down the back housing correctly and firmly so those contacts are touching.
pwrdbykyank Thanks for the reply. I did find the problem. It was the battery being positioned just a little too close to the contacts. So I moved the battery just a hair, in the other direction, away from the loudspeaker, and I got sound now. Thanks for the reply.
manwalkingtheearth honestly it's a pretty solid build, looks complicated but isn't too hard to take apart or replace parts. does take some time but better than having to heat up and pry out the screen to get inside
This is an OLED display with a plastic cover lens, which is included in the device specifications. NOT an LCD

why the glue? i like the old style screws only design, reduces the hassle of putting it back together
yup, would be much better with screw only design
Can you point out where the second front speaker is? Perhaps connected to the mainboard?

It would be hard to do that way, probably end up ruining the main board

First thing I went searching for when I saw Verizon was selling these was a takeapart video. hah!
hey man can i use B-7000 glue to stick again the back cover ?
I wouldn't suggest it since if you ever need to take it off might me harder or give issues. It's up to you though.
o what can i use?
use 3m adhesive
Hi, it is possible replace the sim card / sd card slot ? Looks like that it makes part of mainmother? I would like to replace it.

So I teardown my phone in order to look a problem with the mic, and now it does not work the digitizer :S, what can I do?
Try making sure you plugged the screen cable in all the way, and try rebooting the phone.
I tried that already and it doesnt work :( I had to give it to an intrumentist engineer
