      I hope he wins I don't believe that he is pity ..any one who knows someone with autism knows pushing out of the world they live in is not easy and Kodi does it for his music ,that is not only remarkable but beautiful as well ..he is truly talented and for his courage and for his determination and for his hard work and for the many battles he fought within himself to be still and share his talent and his love of music he definitely deserves to win

    • @hisroyalhighness8566
      @hisroyalhighness8566 5 лет назад +2

      @@lizzysunstars I'll just have to agree to disagree with you. He's marginally talented if people weren't told of his disability beforehand and just judged on his voice and piano Playing he wouldn't get very far. This shouldn't be good for an autistic person competition

    • @adimart2214
      @adimart2214 5 лет назад +26

      @@hisroyalhighness8566Actually, the bar is set that much higher, not just anyone has the gift to learn to play the piano while also retaining so many song lyrics in there mind, while also being both blind and autistic. This is a natural talent that should be rewarded. So obviously it would be harder to win if he wasn't blind and autistic but what makes this unique and impressive is the fact that despite the extreme challenge of juggling 2 really big disabilities he can still perform very very well and is even called on to perform for large audiences. Tell me how many autistic people can do that, not very many and tell me how many people can do that with both those disabilities, only a little over a dozen people in the entire world. That is a huge talent.

      I think it's more to highlight that there are different types of blindness. I was classified as partially blind as well, for example. I can't see out of my left eye (only outlines) and my right eye is bad at distance. That means I'll never pass a Driver's eye test, but I can still walk around, play video games and be aware of my surroundings just fine. When I was born, my eyelid was covering my left eye. Due to several other actually-life threatening health concerns, that fell to the bottom of the priority list at the time.

    I don't understand why people have to question the validity of his ability or inabilty to see. Being blind does not mean total lack of vision. "There are several ways to define blindness. Many people regard blindness as the inability to see at all or, at best, to discern light from darkness. The National Federation of the Blind takes a much broader view. We encourage people to consider themselves as blind if their sight is bad enough-even with corrective lenses-that they must use alternative methods to engage in any activity that people with normal vision would do using their eyes.
    The United States Bureau of the Census question about “significant vision loss” encompasses both total or near-total blindness and “trouble seeing, even when wearing glasses or contact lenses.” The statutory definition of “legally blind” is that central visual acuity must be 20/200 or less in the better eye with the best possible correction or that the visual field must be twenty degrees or less. There are no generally accepted definitions for “visually impaired,” “low vision,” or “vision loss.” Almost all statistics on blindness are estimated, which means that the numbers found in a sample are extrapolated to the entire population. United States government agencies-including the Bureau of the Census, the National Center for Health Statistics, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics-use sophisticated statistical techniques that lead to population estimates with great accuracy. Moreover, these techniques also provide the margin of error." - National Federation of the Blind
    "Nuff said.

    I’m humbled to see such love between a sister and two brothers. Yea, Kodi’s an amazing talent but his true gift is the wonderful family that surrounds him.
    As far as the blindness, it’s good you clarified. This issue is SO misunderstood. Thankfully I hired a legally blind young man to work in the kitchen at my restaurant. It helped me to understand the condition. Yes. He could “see” but his vision was SO limited compared to a normal sighted person. But with patience the guy became a a great Chef. It was amazing to work with him.

      @P S Ummm, did you just say something? Undoubtedly you kind of missed what I was talking about so perhaps English is not your first language.
      My very entitled irritation was NOT with people just being inquisitive into his life, it was the fact that some were basically ACCUSING him of faking like he was blind.
      So I am not sure whose conversation you were interjecting your comment into, but perhaps next time you can try to follow the train of thought of the post

    My wife has worked in special education for thirty years, specializing in the Autism-Spectrum area in elementary education. She has also worked with blind children for a few years. I know it takes tons of patience and understanding to work with the ups and downs of everyday life in helping kids with Autism-Spectrum challenges to reach their full potential and I applaud your obvious love and tenderness with how you interact with your brother. Your Mom MUST be a Saint. Good job FAMILY! Kodi is AWESOME!!! Heck Yeah!!!
