    Very wise information, as always. Thanks. One question: You probably have already told about it, but anyway, do you have a roadmap to licensing? Assuming that I want to release my own music both physically and digitally, which are the steps needed?

    Tony
    We have your spreadsheet.
    I modified it so that all a person has to do is input their release date and it automatically dates all the days in the 3 tabs.
    This allows someone to make adjustments based on the Release Date.

    @11:02 you mean "- Read EVERY word of your design proofs"? lol

    Nice (probably unintentional) reminder: “read ever [sic] word of your design proofs.” :)

    How do labels typically deal with getting merchandise to artists to sell at their concerts? In terms of pricing and payment etc.

    • @tonyvv
      @tonyvv 3 года назад +3

      It varies by label. Some make artists buy merch at wholesale, while others let artists take care of all merch themselves.

    Tony, can a person sell a music video as Merchandise on Band Camp? After watching this video, I realized that my music videos of my Art (cartoons etc.) and my original music, could be something that I sell??? My Art (cartoon, abstract, realism etc. art) and my original songs put onto the video could be a very unique bonus pack to sell my music. Of course I am not sure how your company could help to make a product such as mine available to the public for sale. A person wouldn't really even need to be an Artist per se, to create a Video to go with each of their songs or at least a few of their songs.

      You could sell compilations of your music videos on DVD. Music artists do it all the time and people buy em

    Is anyone actually buying CDs anymore? I will most likely order some CDs for my own sanity, just to remember all the work that went into it but honestly, how many people actually buy CDs any more?

    • @tonyvv
      @tonyvv Год назад

      Yes, people definitely order CDs... if you have fans, and especially if you perform (even if it's just an album release gig). It's much harder to sell CDs online (again, unless you have an engaged fanbase), and as far as retail is concerned, forget it. But fans DO want to support the artists they love, and they'll buy CDs, sometimes even if they don't have a CD player!

    Was this error intentional? : "Check your proof carefully! -Listen to the whole album again . -Read "ever" word of your design proofs " ..a touch of irony, perhaps?

    "Clients." All of this sucks my soul right out of my body. Remember when Rahsaan Theodore Kirk literally "ate" the money that he was given by the club owner in NY for his performances? That's what artists do. They promote nothing, and then, when they receive money, they eat and digest it.

    "hummers 'n babes" (24:49)?
    Are you serious??
    It's 2022, and you're unironically suggesting women's bodies are "great marketing tools"? It's like a Tim Heidecker parody but real.
    Do you think everyone watching this video is a middle school boy? I thought we left this trash back in the '90s, along with JNCOs, the Macarena, and, you know, CDs.
    When women talk about how the industry is hostile toward them, it's constant BS like this that really sets the stage for far worse behavior. Talk about women as *literal* promotional objects and imagine how much respect they (don't) get from you and your company irl. If the CEO thinks this way, it must be baked pretty deep into Disc Makers' DNA. They won't be getting my business any time soon.
