Rugby matches are like the bounce of a Rugby ball, if the the French had come away with points from, the first sixteen minutes of pressure, this would have been a different game. As it was when Rowland made a marvellous break and Dow clinically finished, you could almost feel the French wind being knocked out of them, and they were hanging on the ropes till halftime. When they came out they were a different team, must have been some real motivational work going on in the dressing room.

I think that what changed the fortunes of the French team was Simon Middleton's second half substitutions when his team was functioning so well everywhere and change wasn't necessary. The team seemed to collapse and France just continued to play their game. This year's contest is going to be interesting as the Red Roses are playing as well as ever, winning with 14 players in two matches and the inability to convert many tries.

the English women's federation has been professional for a long time, for France it's very recent, the difference will disappear little by little and that's good for the show.

The french went professional in 2019, with england. Maybe England payed more, but not sure just "Money" explains the difference, since the last time the french beat england was in 2018!

@@AndrewUnderwood-pl1ur Nope, the French aren't fully pro. The only French women's players fully pro are those who are both in the XV and 7's national teams the rest are also working or are students on the side. The federal contracts are 75% rugby/25% job/studies
Now she's a firefighter but until 2022 Caroline Boujard was working in the sell department of a Decathlon shop, in 2022 Safi N'Diaye was working with children with special needs. Manaé Feleu is in her 4 years of medical studies, etc.

@@kropotkine9640 As of time of writing, 4 weeks ago, all th French players were fully professional. Prior to that, I do not know but France introduced contrats in 2019. Whether all th players took them up is a differeent issue.

I felt for Jessie Tremouliere, who after a great career, didn't have a good final game for Les Bleues.

Women's rugby has reached such a peak of athleticism it's a joy to watch.......except for their kicking of penalties and conversions. Tremoulieres' two relatively easy misses meant losing rather than drawing the game. There has to be a solution as it's a complete embarrassment no matter which team is playing.

'Seat belt' tackle on Lark Davies for the disallowed try? I know it made no difference in the long run, but it might have been questioned, at least, by the TMO. Interested to hear what others think.

The French fly-half is so easy to read. She never takes it to the line. It feels lazy. She immediately offloads or kicks. Her backs could do more if she attacked the line. Would’ve put more points on the board.
