Ya you can zap ANYTHING with it, its just the tougher something is the more shielding it gives you. i can only assume the grunts guns and equipment is where the energy comes from.

Hell i was in a cluster of 5 titans doing nothing and one dude started a rodeo on me and not a single one of them got him off of me. Meanwhile when i start a rodeo some fucker just snipes me across the map just to help his buddy. Ive never had anyone kill someone doing a rodeo on my titan and ive never got a battery from anyone. Hell if anything my teammates just rush in front of me in a cramped space getting in the way while i use my core or offensive and then dodge an offensive or core so it hits me.
Honestly for me the hardest part is getting a battery to give in the first place, cus its like the moment they pop that smoke i jump and its like "welp guess ill die now" cus i can never get away from it.

I gotta say I hate it when a Monarch main executes me with Energy Steal, because the enemy actually gains something. They can keep fighting because they just got a freaking battery. It also just becomes stale over time
People get mad at monarch but in all honesty I find that when she drops she’s easy to defeat with ion, so if you are having trouble with her pull an ion
Another playstyle you could try on monarch is overcore and battery backup. If you don't use the battery for a couple Titan rounds then switch to monarch after you can get 1st core and full shield after Titan spawn

Monarch is a beast mostly when the opponent team doesn't know how to handle her, goes in one at a time to let her power up and don't play as a team. And competent team play shuts monarch down pretty fast.

I usually run Monarch with Arc rounds, XO-16 Accelerator, Superior Chassis combo, i don't need special abilities if i can just BRRRRRRRRRRRRR and more HP than a Ogre class Titan
