The best timing, writing and delivery of a sketch I've seen in a while. Damn near perfect except for those missing yellow m & ms...somebody slap Maurice again.
Okay, since I'm a dork, I decided to do some actual basic math. Regina spoke throughout this sketch for ~100 seconds (very convenient). She looked at the teleprompter for around ~47 of those 100 seconds, so 47% of the time. Slightly less than half, so you're right in that she didn't look at the teleprompter for most of the time. To determine whether or not that's better than the average SNL cast member we'd have to do the same for them, but I'm lazy

It's a good thing that they didn't put Pete in it because he definitely would have messed up. That's his "thing" which sometimes works but wouldn't in a Regina King skit.

You know there was a reason for that. Their stage set was very complicated if it was not built correctly it could be dangerous to the band. The instructions were detailed in their contract. They knew if they walked into their dressing room and there were brown M&Ms that the instructions had not been thoroughly reviewed and therefore they needed to double-check the staging to make sure it had not been set up wrong and was potentially not safe.
