What Dutton seems to be missing, is that people like myself who did the undergraduate degree in a 'professional' field, did the postgraduate study to be more competitive, and then found the right partner etc, are now in our early 30s and completely missed the boat on housing. After that, how do we achieve it, what are the costs and in what time frame? Do we need to de-centralise from the capital cities, rather than having sprawling suburbia with 1 hour our commute? The mining companies ARE paying tax under Albo... want proof? here's half hour of Gina the Bushpig bitching about how their tax is increased (with Pauline and Barnaby also in attendance) + a further half hour of Dutton confirming Albo is making them pay tax but he wants to make the mining billionaires richer - ruclips.net/video/FM-kInpa-CQ/видео.html
ceo's and executives of mining companies pay the highest income tax, so do all the other employees, the investors pay tax on their capital growth when they sell their shares, and the company pays GST on all it expenses (very expensive equipment), as well as paying company tax on its profits, however, if its been an investment heavy year, or low resource value year then the company doesn't have to pay company tax, if its costs exceed profit. like every business. Left leaning folk will look at this and say that the company is paying no tax. technically true, in some years, but its left wing popularism that deliberately omits the full context to generate resentment toward the successful.
Australians need to look after and care for each other not just these vocal minorities! It's what is important for every Australian and not what is popular! Hard work brings benefits. Dear Mark, As a regular listener and subscriber to your podcast, I found your recent interview with Peter Dutton particularly resonant. In the discussion, you highlighted the challenges faced by logging businesses in securing bank loans. This issue mirrors our own experience. We established a small lending business, obtained the necessary credit license, and invested our own capital. However, when we approached banks for support, our applications were rejected on the grounds that we are a competing business. With a modest portfolio of $1.3 million, it’s perplexing to be viewed as competition to major banks. It seems that banks are prioritizing their own profits over public interest, creating barriers for small enterprises like ours. I hope the Dutton government can address these issues and implement policies that support small businesses in obtaining the necessary financial backing to thrive. Thank you for shedding light on these critical issues. Best regards, Manohar
@@ManoharTiwari-d2v The Big banks donate to the major political parties for a reason. The system is captured by big national and multi national corporations. They don't want a free market.

Great interview thank you Mark. Am I mistaken or do we have a very real opportunity to have a leader of the country that knows what it is like to earn a living; has come from the real world and not a labour/unionist enclave, and has the guts to Make Australia Great. Peter Dutton has a 300 million dollar portfolio. He doesn’t know what it like to have to earn a living. He has engaged in very corrupt practices to enrich himself on the taxpayer dollar
Peter Dutton seems to stand for nothing, he does what his WEF handlers tell him…that’s the problem with career politicians. Trump is an outsider with his own opinions. Australia needs a true patriot, that really wants the best for the country, not the best for the WEF.

Dutton’s our guy! He’s already won. Australia must leverage its abundance of minerals to establish itself as a global battery manufacturing hub. Cut the NDIS scams, reduce government bureaucracy, optimise waste management, fix our inefficient infrastructure projects, Free up about 10 billion. Invest these savings into local battery production and add value to our abundance of resources, create jobs, and secure Australia’s place in the future economy. Australia has so much land. Why is it so expensive to buy? A half an acre property shouldn't be more than 60k, especially out in the country areas. If the government can lower land price and bring down tax and energy, then housing and materials will end up cheaper. Then, people should be able to buy a home. Every election which seats do the Greens contest? Mostly ALP. Why is that? Because the Greens are aware of this rhetoric, they use Murdoch / LNP advertising to get a leg up over the ALP.

Great interview. Dutton needs to do better to get this side of his personality into the public domain. The news, as with most issues, doesnt do him any justice.
If a country does not back its people, the people will not back the country. It is that simple. If you want people's loyalty and pride in their flag, then for the love of god give them a good reason to feel like they belong in that picture, up until now most politicans have done the opposite to appease various stakeholders other than the common folks
All Peter Dutton has to do to be PM is introduce a Resource Rent Tax, scrap negative gearing and capital gains. Easy! I would vote for him. Keating best politician PM and Treasure we ever had. He should go and get some advice from him like Keating did with Jack Lang. Make first home buyer mortgage rate never any higher than when initiated and always lower than RBT set. Stamp Duty paid by the Vendor not the purchaser. Common Mark propose the above.
Where was this version of Dutton previously? I find myself actually agreeing with some of his points, and on those that I don’t I at least respect his stance because he backs it up with a level of nuance that he hasn’t displayed in previous interviews. I don’t currently see myself voting liberal but if they can outline a sound bite free vision for Australia’s future which demonstrates a well considered medium to long term planning with sound economic and geopolitical underpinnings, without engaging in culture wars, I might end up a swing voter. I don’t need to agree with the party in power all the time, I just need them to justify the chosen direction articulately and respectfully. There are a lot of well educated swing voters who could flip marginal seats if you actually engaged with us more.

Dear Mark,
As a regular listener and subscriber to your podcast, I found your recent interview with Peter Dutton particularly resonant.
