I had the MALFUNCTION issue on an old 1660 Super. It was the grease from cheap thermal pads that caused it, I took it apart, cleaned/re-pasted/re-padded and it worked like a charm after.
really just taking it apart and put it back together does the trick on most. or simply leaving it on a shelf for a week and try again. Trust me, it DOES work
Same issue I am facing in my 3070 gpu but most important gpu working excellent on windows THE ONLY ISSUE IS ON HIVEOS .AND I FEEL THAT IN FEW YEARS HIVEOS SUPPORT GOES POOR N POOR DUE TO THEY HAVE HUGE MARKET SHARE .they also closed telegram support
100% worked for my 3080’s. Reset all the overclocks and unset the flight sheet, then reinstall the NVIDIA drivers again with stable version. Good luck!!
Yeah Panda this is the reason I could never let someone host my rigs too. Even if I can get cheaper electric somewhere else. The Hardware is my investment. Its like someone holding your BTC Keys, so that you can get higher yield. I cant risk someone else having my hardware. Plus Nobody takes better care of my hardware than me! 😄
From an professional IT and Security Analyst perspective, moving computers / servers simpally for astetics can prove to be futile, moving old things can break them if they work previously.
Quick Tip: Turn the rig on to let it Mine & heat up GPU’s. Then turn the rig off, and quickly touch each GPU to feel which GPU is Cold. The Cold GPU is the one not hashing.
I've been troubleshooting and trying to switch on my gpus which I've set aside for the past 2 years. I've had the same issues of undetected cards. What worked for me was using fine sandpaper and isopropyl alcohol and sanding/cleaning the pcie brass connectors on the gpus. Turns out the brass connectors oxidised due to exposure to humidity, and that made them undetectable, cleaning them made them work like stock cards :)
Use a big pink eraser instead of sandpaper. Then clean with isopropyl alcohol. The eraser will clean off the oxidation without removing any material from the pins on the pcie
I never have gpu issues ever but I had a rig that would reset because of one card. I wiped the pcie and reseated the card. It was back working properly. Dust and thermal pad oil can get in there.
You ever think of investing in a flir or seek to help see shorts and traces that are broke. Really should it has helped lot of times. EX: crack in board, chip no volt. Save tons of time not wasting 2hrs troubleshooting could of spent on something else.
Do you put two screws in each gpu to hold them in position or just 1? Always put in both screws to each gpu it really prevents them from weighing on the pcie if you go vertical
doin a basement reno and put all rigs on usb wifi and have 1 in every room but this happed to me but was quick fixes but also cleaned everything with my electrical blower lol
had many a malfunction errors over the years, its almost always been a riser issue or simply reseating it after cleaning the connectors, they get a little dirty over the years..
I think just cleaning the card could fix it since you were able to flash it without problem, the GPU isn't dead maybe just some short or a VRAM chip overheating.
You need to have an electronic cleaner spray always. This will clean that oil residue from the thermal pads. Just take it apart, clean it then assemble it again. Why don't you copper mod all of your gpu's? reducing heats will reduce consumption and increase performance.
I tested some gpus on mine that i did not sell in the past, and after plugging a 5700XT and installing driver, it just reboots, the fans of the gpu go to 100% and there is no signal on the monitor. Guess it died. Previously i had been using it but without installing the driver and it worked just fine. So basically i lost one gpu.
No idea why, what, how, but I had a similar problem, loaded the gpu on a windows rig, updated the Nvidia drivers, card then showed up on windows, transferred it back to the Hive rig and it was back to normal.
still mining with xfx rx580 8gb, 16 of them, bought them new 5yeas ago, old MB died, gpus no problems. wish upgrade them but too expensive everything. mining in loss but at least heating house.
I saw that video where it broke and overall I’m glad that all the 3080 still work though. But like my ocd didn’t like the fact that they did not lineup on the rack annoyed me, but then something as simple as moving it can break a whole GPU is even more annoying, but sometimes that’s how pc can be like sometimes. Like seriously when you’re mining or PCs in general if you move anything change anything or just touch anything it’s just decided it doesn’t wanna work anymore. But most likely overall it’s usually not bad and you just have to do some troubleshooting, but it does give you a little scare. but now I have to say rip 2070 😭😭😭
I have 2x Nvidia P104-100 cards, 1 MSI, 1 Powercolour They both work on multiple rigs on their own But if I put the two cards together they post all 0's on Afterburner and or evga X They both show no issues on windows Device manager Ive reflashed both cards with their individual bios's, and Reinstalled Drivers after DDU Im sure some of you Fella miners have encountered this before any leads? thx PS, Im mining on Nicehash but its irrelevant the cards are posting all 0's on MSI before hand and they crash if i try mining together in same Rig
1 soldier fallen. It's almost fine, despite a loss being a loss. Find a replacement, get the 8 soldiers back on the line. Glad to see that you're always on the move :) Cheers and have yourself a Happy New Year! All the best!
Hi rpm, I'm trying to get into gpu mining and need a little bit of advice. Should I go for an Intel HM77 BTC-S37 and mine riserless or should I go for a Biostar TB360-BTC 2.0 PRO? The intel approach would be cheaper.
@@RedPandaMining So it would work for a beginner mining rig? What are the drawbacks? Oh and was the board a good pick? I don't want to buy a board that might not fulfill my needs. And for the gpu's, would a few Rx 470 8 gigs be good enough? They're like 40€ used here. I could also go for a more efficient 3080, but they're pretty pricey. Also, is the board manufacturer, brainzap good?
@@RedPandaMining Hey, so I just found another motherboard, the AXOTEN B85. Which board should I go for? The Brainzap one or the Axoten one? The Axoten one is slightly cheaper
Try to clean the 2070 gpu with dry paper then leave it for few hours then use a wall paint brush smaller one and hair of the brush shouldn't be hard clean the GPU from outside and then try once if same issue and if not under warranty some chip lvl motherboard GPU repair people is there you can send to them they will open it up and try to rectify it if you can't open and change thermal paste 2. Connect gpu to windows and download an app and run GPU STRESS TEST and check if failed over there then GPU is not working give it to chip lvl mbd and GPU repair person if you don't want throw it out
Bro try this MALFUNCTION GPU ON WINDOWS I THINK ITS RUNNING , I AM FACING SAME ISSUE ON HIVE OS . BUT BEFORE PLACING SERVICE CENTER I JUST CHECK ON MY WINDOWS PC ITS RUNNING EXCELLENT
Another trolling video from panda, mining never produce that kind of issue with malfunctions card or whatever, gpu mining is plug and play (with a bit of sarcasms hahaha)
I had the MALFUNCTION issue on an old 1660 Super. It was the grease from cheap thermal pads that caused it, I took it apart, cleaned/re-pasted/re-padded and it worked like a charm after.
Agreed, this has happened to me as well and repad, repaste and cleaning the card worked on my 580s
really just taking it apart and put it back together does the trick on most. or simply leaving it on a shelf for a week and try again. Trust me, it DOES work
One does not simply expect RPM to change thermal pads and paste. 😂 hahahaha

or simply turn the rig on, let it starts mining and see which GPU's fan doesn't spin... that's it
@@moo2min that works sometimes, but often the fans still spin because the GPU is receiving power even when its not being recognized by the OS
@@moo2minthat only works for cards that are fused, Asus don’t fuse their GPUs, GB, Palit and MSI tend to add fuses
I will always avoid keeping mining server cases vertical…
Pain. That server case shelf is such a sexy rack. Keep grinding buddy
I feel your pain and the frustration. At least you got through it and although it will happen again, you are back hasing much more. Think positivly 🖖
Those mobos for some reason have been burning card rails.

You need a fiberglass pen Bro. We use them in electronic repair to clean everything from contacts to traces. They are cheap and easy to find.
You ever think of investing in a flir or seek to help see shorts and traces that are broke. Really should it has helped lot of times. EX: crack in board, chip no volt. Save tons of time not wasting 2hrs troubleshooting could of spent on something else.
Yeah the black mark was def created by card getting dislodged from the pcie slot, glad it survived tho!
Do you put two screws in each gpu to hold them in position or just 1? Always put in both screws to each gpu it really prevents them from weighing on the pcie if you go vertical

Had the same problem, ended up being a bad pcie slot on my motherboard
Whatever slot that was in you also need to clean the slot it was in.
I hate messing with a working rig. I have the same issues eveytime I mess with my GPU's
100% killed some gpus messing around and inexpirence
Everytime I change ot move a perfectly functioning rig, IT causes me pain...and yet I still do it way to often

This is what GPU mining is about. TROUBLESHOOTING
Try a pencil eraser on the burnt spot 🤔

Your set up is insane bro. Love it . Keep it up!
Damn man I guess that rules out you using the bottom shelf vertical for an additional 3 spots of octominers ;(
@4:26 it shows Booted in 57 years:D WTF?!
TF!!😂😂
No idea why, what, how, but I had a similar problem, loaded the gpu on a windows rig, updated the Nvidia drivers, card then showed up on windows, transferred it back to the Hive rig and it was back to normal.
I feel the same way as your thumbnail, but I'll probably move them at some point...sigh
Get a temperature gun laser thing and point it at each of the gpu’s heatsincs for temp and see which is dead ?
That sucks does not work when the GPU dies the bonus you got the 80 to work though
There’s a reason I started adding fuses to my risers….

Could the "gpu-fans-find" command also been used to see which card has the malfunction?
@Red Panda Mining, open it clean it it may short some of the components.
Did you forget to blow out the pcie slots on the motherboard? Might of pushed dust into the slot when you put the card back in.
Lol the 8 bit nintendo method
how about use flux and solder and re-tin the connector?
Is there some way you can name them 1 to 8 ? Or have 8 different cards in each so they all have different names?
I have 2x Nvidia P104-100 cards, 1 MSI, 1 Powercolour

Are ASUS TUF cards good for mining?
if it works... don't ever touch it!!! absolutely true.

Is it the motherboard that caused it you think or the card black spots are not good
12:11 likely broke the memory BGA on the chip nearest the slot release. happens all the time :/
Easy enough to fix

Just start mining and see which one doesn’t get hot 🥵
those dynex commercials are susp lol why they advertise to the network miners and not the people / companies that matter ? or am i wrong ?
thanks for the video

The joys of gpu mining...😂

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
Man almost went from red panda mining to trash panda mining if you killed those 3080s. Got a cars worth of gpus in that on octominer case alone
Leave it on rice
16 mins of nothing... wow, great video
Its worth it lol

try to run the cmd nvidia-driver-update. sometimes they get stuck and reflashing the drivers works
