    Just noticed something after the upload, take a look at the Thumbnail of the pioneer in the sketch, then look at the statue I found and see how closely they resemble each other.

    Todd, the grave stone you cleared off was amazing. Loved your back story, so much history . The musket ball and shank button were cool. The broken statue is a story in itself. Truly enjoyed your hunt, can’t wait to see what else is hidden beneath the earth. Take care and God Bless.👍😀👏

    Todd,
    I hope that cemetery can be cleared and protected,
    no doubt that is a lot of potential history.
    This Fort area is a wonderful site and you do it justice.

    Lots of cool finds! I am wondering if that was an old radiator cap. The kind that stuck out of the hood of cars and farm tractors. Loved the statue as well! Great video!

    Todd I think the round thing you found at 13:46 in the video is a old iron bed post cap . I have 2 or 3 with a little different designs on them . And the thing you found at 14:15 is the side of a Pflueger bait cast fishing reel . I really like the figurine you found I am like you it kind of looks like a Confederated Soldier bur the face reminds me of George Custer lol . Grate video once again and I hope you find the Fort .

    Maybe a bit off topic, but regarding cemeteries: I had the pleasure? on a business trip, to visit a cemetery behind a co-workers house outside of Danville. It was off a road, off a dirt road, then down a path, to her house. She took me out to what they called an old slave cemetery on the family's property.
    It was a sad reality check, seeing markers of rock and some standing stones, some with nothing discernable. None with any writings on them. The depressions in the ground were heart wrenching! Some very small as for children. None were very long, interpreted as not tall people at all. I'll never forget seeing it first hand. That was 21 years ago. I now live in northern NC and haven't seen the likes since.

    • @AppalachianHistoryDetectives
      @AppalachianHistoryDetectives  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yep I feel the same. I often come across abandoned cemeteries like this or a group of rocks in the woods that no doubt is a cemetery from long ago. Many are slaves but not all, and all are melancholy to experience first hand.

    I viewed a old war sight on Google Earth after the wet season when everything dies.also I had cleared the 233 acre property with a slasher.when I copied the view in black and white I was amazed by the evidence of old roads and early activity.
