Unfortunately toxic people are usually the loudest and that's why many fandoms have a bad reputation. It's really quite sad.
I feel bad saying this but that’s exactly the reason why i don’t wanna acknowledge the fact i’m a blink, because of those toxic fans. The members are all so sweet and i like a number of their songs, but i don’t like being called a blink because of their bad reputation :( even tho i’ve seen a lot of blinks being really nice
Hongjoong wasn’t always this relaxed. When they first debuted up to maybe 2 years in he was very strict with the group. I think the pressure of making sure they succeeded as a group made him feel pressured. But eventually and especially now he relaxed a lot. But he is still very serious when he needs to be.
I think the other factors are the members mellowing as they age and becoming more proactive. In an interview, he said he used to be very busy on the day of a concert because there were a lot of things that he had to look after, but for the most recent concert (might have been Fellowship), when he would go to check on something, he would find another member had already handled it without being asked. So, he'd move to the next task and it was done too. As they've matured, the members have exercised more ownership, so there isn't much "leading" needed anymore.

Hongjoong actually nags at the members a lot, he gets scary even sometimes when he's serious lol you don't wanna mess with him. Especially with Wooyoung xD he's very strict dad but Seonghwa helps calming him down lol

Every fandom has toxic fans and some are immature and need to calm down. Over the years I've learned to say fu and react and say what I want. KPOP or not, I still have freedom of speech and it's okay to have different opinions, but I have the right to have my own too.

Hoongjoon is actually pretty dramatic and he tends to nag a lot (lovingly) but recently he's been more relaxed, not with the dramatics but with the nagging. Basically, instead of trying to control the chaos he is now either a part of the chaos or just a bystander. There is actually a funny compilation of him trying to keep the chaos in control it's called "hongjoon's guide to raising demons" hope it's a older video but it's still good.

I know there are many "toxic" fans in every fandom. I was an Army before I found ATEEZ, and I understand how you feel. For me personally, the "old" Army that has been a fan since BTS debut was never like that but after their success goes global the "toxic" fans are emerging more and more. I've seen a reactor got attacked on Twitter by them too.
Ateez are about as chaotic as SKZ, in my opinion. Their content is funny as hell and I'm so here for your Yunho simping 😍
You really hit the nail on the head with the "gatekeeping" discussion. It's really bad. If you don't react the right way, if you don't stream the MVs for 24 hrs straight, if you don't fight with other fandoms to "protect" your artist, are you actually a fan? I HATE that mentality. There used to be genuine community within fandoms......
Yunho also jumped up my totem pole SO quickly, he absolutely slayed in Black cat Nero and that was the first song of theirs I got obsessed with.
About Hongjoong, at first it was a little weird for me because I also came from BTS and Stray Kids and they have a bit more of a hierarchy with leasers. The way he was so short tempered as well, made him look a bit flawed (in a very human and attractive way!) but I've learned to appreciate his leadership style for what it is. The most important part is that he is very emotionally intelligent and looks after his team in a lot of small ways, it's not super obvious at first but once you start noticing it's so heartwarming. But he is also a brat and honestly, love him for it as well! xD
Some of the difference in leadership styles is due to factors new Atiny might not be aware of. Their members were all born in 98, 99, or 00 (Jongho), so it's a narrow age range to begin with which is complicated by the fact that the 98 liners are the youngest child in their families while Jongho, the youngest member of the group, is the oldest child in his family. As the oldest child, RM and Bangchan have spent their lives in the leadership position of their siblings, but HJ hasn't. HJ has been more even tempered in recent years, but I'm not sure if that's because he's mellowed or because his members have calmed down 😂.
I love watching your videos and I totally agree that fandoms can be toxic and they can especially be toxic to each other. I’m a multi Stan and it’s difficult seeing other fandoms attack each other. Like why can’t they just respect other fandoms instead of spreading hate 😢

The 3 groups you react to are my personal top 3 and I’m a complete multi. I once saw on Twitter a girl bragging about how she managed to get herself arrested again, she was like hey, sorry I’ve been gone for a while, then went on about the reasons. She didn’t seem to see anything wrong with it and was going on over and over about how RM would find it attractive and so on. There were so many people praising her for it too!
Hongjoong can be super authoritative and strict but as the guys grew up they just don't need as much herding so he's been able to relax :)

A little tip for pronunciation of Korean names, the letter “a” is pretty much always pronounced as an “ah” sound. So like the “a” in Hans name for example, so San would be (s-ah-n) and yeosang would be (yo-sah-ng). And the “h” in yunhos name is kinda silent, so it’s more like (you-know)
When u read those toxic comments, it helps to see it as a 10 year old writing it. That’s what I do, and it makes me less mad “oh it’s probably just a kid who doesn’t now any better”
I just recently started watching your videos and I think you’re great! Ive been a K-pop multi for a couple years now and honestly it is really hard to watch people get discouraged because of things like this. I hope it doesn’t stop you from reacting to K-pop cause I think you’re super genuine. Some fandoms have more toxic fans than others as you’ve probably noticed but there’s a couple fandoms that are known to be extremely kind (atiny, carats, etc) that would be great for reactions if you would prefer that.

I absolutely love your reactions and was so upset thinking it was our atiny who were giving you shit before watching and after reading the comments but yesyes what might be different about hongjoongs leader style might be because they’re all mostly months - 2 years apart which makes them extremely extremely close kind of drops a lot of the seniority & one thing about being an atiny is you Can have whatever bias you want but yunho is everyone’s boyfriend..
I think this plays a huge role too. They have such a miniscule age difference!
The toxic fans are the reason I stopped being an ARMY. It started to feel embarrassing to be called that bc nowadays literally every single fandom has had a bad experience w them and now it’s way too common for reactors to have to speak out on it or flat out refuse to react to them anymore bc the fans are too much. It’s such a frustrating thing to see as someone who’s been into kpop for like 7 yrs now. Bc so many other fandoms have made me feel so welcome especially as an artist who has a fanart account. But my friends can’t even post their BTS art without ppl being weird towards them for not making things exactly the way they want. And yeah passive aggressiveness is the worst bc it’s such a cowardly way to go. If you’re going to be an asshole, atleast be out front about it. Don’t pretend like you don’t know what you’re doing. And don’t speak to me like I can’t see through that.
Yunho's name is said more like "Yu-no" kinda like "You-know" and the H is not really pronounced unlike with Jongho. And the both O's in Jongho are pretty much said the same, like the O in 'boss'. And the A's in San, Yeosang and Seonghwa are said the same, like the A in "star", not the A in "sand". I don't know if this helps at all but still^^
And yeah toxic fans are so unfortunate, and sadly of course the bigger the fandom the more you have those people too :/ As a both atiny and army I've seen too much of that, had to really choose the people I follow and interact with to have a nice little corner in the fandom.

Unfortunately, the rapid increase in toxic fans were the reason I left Army and since then I outgrew BTS 😢I know each fandom has toxic fans but I just couldn’t deal with the level of toxicity so I just decided that I’ll always support & and love them from afar.

I'm Atiny, but in defense of Army, I've observed that every fandom has a similar percentage of toxic fans. Unfortunately, the larger the fandom, the more people are in that percentage, and since toxic fans are loud, it can appear like the fandom is exceptionally toxic when it isn't. When I read toxic comments from another fandom, I try to tell myself that I wouldn't want to be defined by a toxic fan in my fandom. However, that doesn't mean nothing can be done about it. If I see a toxic comments from another fandom, I report it with the hope others will do the same resulting in the comment being removed so the channel owner hopefully won't see it. If I see a toxic comment from my own fandom, I call them out. As Atiny nothing makes me more angry than seeing a toxic Atiny spewing crap about Stay or Stray Kids. Luckily, I'm only on YT, so I don't see it very often, but when I do, I remind them that Stayteez are friends, that we love the Staytiny in our fandom, and that ATEEZ believe in being humble and kind but they are being neither. Almost every time I've said something, more Atiny have commented as well asking them not to say those things. That's typically the end of it. We shouldn't underestimate our ability to keep our own fandom(s) in check.

BTW, the Jong in Jongho rhymes with the Hong in Hongjoong (the O in ong is pronounced like the letter name, same as in Ho).

I know exactly what you mean about that aggressive/toxic side, I hate that thats what people have to see when they talk about us fans. As a fan of the three groups you spoke about knowing, I find it ridiculous to get angry over such a simple comment. I know comparing isn't all that cool, due to people being held back because "-group- also did that" or "you're the next -group-". But being new to kpop and getting treated like you should know everything is crazy. Dang, I've been here for years, don't expect me to be perfect 🤷
I'll protect names, but I experienced the opposite through a different channel, in which the reactor was being toxic. They kept crapping on -redacted group- because they liked another group and wanted to hold them higher. Going as far to say "f*** yourself, k*** yourself" ect.(even worse comments, that i really don't know how RUclips keeps up) directed at both fans (who were surprisingly lovely, even with those comments) and the group themselves. I really liked that reactor because they always complimented a person I also really like, but their passive aggressive to straight out rude/racist comments (both groups are korean???) were insane to me.
Went as far as to attack other reactors, and said everyone was making excuses when they were just translating and giving accurate meanings to songs they called meaningless. (And the fans were still being cordial, saying "its okay if you don't like the song", but they'd respond to them with "its absolute s***, you're stupid for liking it") They were deleting comments questioning why they'd tell people to end themselves over a song someone happened to not like, or asking why they were being extremely rude to everyone else.
This is exactly what I hate when I talk about liking kpop, because those kinds of people will take the spotlight, and every good deed the rest of us do will be buried.
Gosh sorry for this rant, I just need to get it off my chest, I hate the toxicity we're forced to be known for 😕 I'm glad you spoke out about it, definitely a new subsciber now 💜

Wooyoung and San's families have gotten extremely close both of them call each others parents Mom and Dad... Actually the entirety of Ateez calls San's dad, "dad". He calls the guys regularly and chats with them... When Mingi was on hiatus he would make sure to talk to him at least once a week if not more.

I think BTS has such a wide fanbase there's a loud minority of toxicity and some of them have a slight,, superiority complex?? Because BTS is the biggest group as we speak. I'm not saying armys are bad it's just that there's so many of them and the bad ones stand out, because a bad impression leaves more of a mark than a good one.

I agree, a lot of fans justify their bad actions as love for their idols, its really not healthy! I hope they realize one day that what they are doing is toxic and harms not only other ppl but also their idols, and I wish some fans would also treat themselves as their 1st priority and not their idols, loving and adoring idols is totally okay, nothing is wrong with that, but fans need to take care of themselves too! It is truly sad you had to experience that, but it is a given when stanning BTS at this point, with a group as huge as BTS you truly cannot escape having extremely toxic fans who treat being an army like an actual cult, a lot of these are also literal 12 years old children who shouldn't be on the internet unsupervised to begin with, this has been going on for a few years now, and it's truly a shame for new fans and even older fans like myself, but don't think too much of it, it's better to not give a shit about them

Army suffers from toxic shippers, toxic akgaes and it is a really sad aspect of being army… but we also have army whose enthusiasm and zeal become like weapons when they perceive the tiniest slight against any member or BTS altogether….
