Don't forsake the power of your words especially when you speak by the Spirit, the main area where the faith movement folks miss it is that many of them do not mix the faith that they teach with grace, they do not fully understand what by grace through faith means. Joseph Prince preaches grace just as strongly as Andrew but he still believes in the power of words and speaking in tongues and all of the gifts of the Spirit. I love Andrews's teaching on grace and listen to it often but there are some areas that he misses it on, he is after all just a man.
Good advice. I kinda always felt that the acts thing was to mechanical. Sometimes I am for a loss of words and I tell Jesus I don't know what to say, but I know he knows my heart.
Its about a close relationship. He is better than your closest friend. Involve The Lord in every act every day. I chat to the Lord all day long. Then when something touches me or convicts me I pray. I just love the Lord Jesus and want him involved in everything I do. I even have His Word playing in the back ground in my workshop and it is surprising what gets through. That's my walk and don't know any other way. Peace and blessings to your all.
Do prayers influence God? Yes - he designed it that way. Answer is not always yes; sometimes it's no or wait. Also, what happens if a Christian fisherman prays for sun and the Christian farmer nearby prays for rain?
so if i lay down in my room with my arms folded or by my side and just talk normally to jesus would that count as trying to get closer to christ? this is a serious question.
Yes you can talk to Him in any way at any time. He delights in us, you don't need to try you are as close as you can be, He is in you and you are in Him
? prayer is a "communication" that by faith grows by being more and more aware that along with every word spoken and action taken, our most intimate thoughts and feelings and will (in the secret place, the closet, the soul in the temple not made by hands) are literally shared with the only One Eternal Spirit who is intimately aware of every word spoken, every action and all of what we think, feel and will, past, present, future, and is whether or not we are aware "inserting" the thoughts, feelings, and will of The Spirit Eternal to the benefit of the beholder and whosoever receives the beholder, for the cause which The Spirit Eternal came in Jesus' name: not willing that any should perish but that all be reconciled to, through the first risen in, The Spirit Eternal. ?
If God is omniscient then He must be bored out of His mind!!! If God knows everything then there is nothing new for Him to learn or experience....That must make life pretty miserable for God! God must feel like He is watching the same movie over and over again...lol
greetings sojourner MyDickiebird, lol this would be true if G-D's purpose were to learn or experience something new but consider this food for thought keeping in mind I am not an authority on the subject but am learning too: Like the joy of sharing a favorite movie you have seen several times with a friend who has not seen it and they like it too, or the joy of playing with a pet even though it is the same routine each time you play that game it is not boring or like listening to a favorite song again and again from time to time, etc., etc. Although it is not new to G-D, it is a joy for G-D to share what is new to you. Consider this to ponder upon: G-D's purpose is to form lasting relationships through whom G-D receives supernatural joy from sharing that which is to the creation, learning and experiencing life ever new. Even though G-D knew all that is going to happen before you, it is His joy to watch you unwrap the "PREsents" He gives forever inevitably coming to you in the resurrection of the body of Christ. salute

God knows everything *about* me, but to know me intimately is a journey that God is having with His image. Therefore, there's always something new that God is saying, and He's doing a new thing... And He's going to come back!

i love my time alone with God and talking to him
God loves people and when they do good things for him. He never becomes bored with his creations.
