I had to grab these. Drove 40 min to Roseville to grab these cuz I wanted them release day. Had these back in junior high. Wearing these makes me feel like I'm going back in the day. Already balled in them but haven't broke them in yet.
I honestly think this will be their best performer of the year. Back when these dropped they were perfect in every single way performance wise, for me at least, except for the fact that they lacked zoom in the forefoot. If these had the met bag they used on the 1,5, and 6 these would have been perfect. Now that they are full length zoom and everything else is the same I honestly feel like that can't be topped
Hey Chris , Patrick from Toronto . Just played in them last night. WOW!!! From my experience, kinda stiff at first in the fore foot. Full length zoom and heel support is spot on. Traction for 30min was slippery but after an hour they stuck like glue on the floor I was playing on, it was mild dusty wiping once in awhile but good overall. I owned the del sol and inline colorway. Can’t wait for new colours to come out. They did not at all feel heavy or bulky. I skipped the 1 Protro cause when I tried it on, it was kinda high for me and I like my low cut bball shoes. Current rotation right now is Harden Vol3 and NOW these 4 protro. BIG FAN MAN KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING. Been watching from like 8 years ago, at first just you and kick genius where my shoe gurus on performance reviews. Love every video. Was teased with the Prelude and FTB packs but when these dropped I knew I had to cop a pair. Thanks to my OG pair I grew an unhealthy obsession with sneakers and that brought me to Nightwing 2303. Now here we are :)

I have 30 pairs of the Kobe IVs. Favorite shoe off all time. I compared the original wrong date traction and it felt more firm than the protros. I'd rather much it be stiff on the traction as I feel the protros will make me slip more. The protros felt very soft and flimsy and felt like I could curve it easily as opposed to the original. My buddy said he was slipping on the protros a little and I never had that problem before with the original draft days.
I absolutely can’t wait to see what other colorways they bring back!!! So exciting! Easily one of my favorite shoes of all time. The first week I had the shoe was terrible and I hated them but after that they became one of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had.
I never had an original pair of Kobe 4s but my friend was the same size as me and he let me borrow this pair for 1 game and I fell in love with them, hopefully I’ll be able to grab a pair and they feel just as good if not better than those 👌🏽
My protro pair is sitting at my door waiting for me when I get off work! Had an original pair back in high school, hard for me to pick a favorite between the 4s, 8s, and 9s, but always loved the 4s, so excited to get them again!

sitting in big city areas aka nyc. played in them this past saturday on a really dusty court and traction did well. felt tighter than other hoop shoes but still tts. really like how they play. full length zoom isn’t that noticeable but still comfy.

Finally the 4s have come back to us...im a huge kobe fan..i get every pair that comes out..at least 1 version of it..to play in. In my honest opinion..the best perdormance models were the 4s..6s...8s and 11s...im really excited about the 4s..my favorite was the away pop art..purple black and gold with all his season stats on it....even the the regular away colorway would be so dope..i hope they release again. Because resale is like 4 and 500 for thiose😑

Sitting here in LA. Had a ton of the OG colorways. Like you mentioned these definitely feel different from OG, but I love them so far. Gotta break them in and see how they stack up against the OG performance wise. Enjoy all the vids bro
I'm a bit torn as to them not changing too much. Being a protro and trying to move forward they should be giving us premium materials (but at least the synthetics on the 4s were always still really nice and soft), and I wish they implemented react into the midsole along with full length zoom. BUT.... at the same time these were so fken awesome it's the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thing. As for colourways, I hope they keep digging into the PE vault much like they did with the 1s and colourways like the Final Seconds and 81 Points. So excited regardless for the review, Chris! Tell Mrs Wing that her editing is on point too (the ASMR bit got me good haha)
Chris, I totally agree with you about the leather upgrade and a more premium look. I saw these today in person and was disappointed in how cheap they looked for $175 plus tax. They could've made these better as a Protro. I'm going to skip these.
They sold like hotcakes here. I had the lower merion joints in HS and I remember being skeptical of the low cut, but it ended up being my favorite basketball shoe up to that point. I'm excited to play in these again when I get the chance.

I had the originals. I remember them being shockingly light but I didnt get the same sensation with these. Also had to size down half a size from a 9 to 8.5 because the protros felt a little long. Had some heel slippage as well which I remember the og's were supreme in terms of lockdown and fit.
Hope they do put out the original colorways....the Del Sol & Carpe Diem were so nice. Thanks for the enthusiasm...I still have my pairs. And they're still sitting here in Fresno, no hype so they're still sitting.
I hope Undefeated does another collab with these Kobe’s. They knocked it out the part before especially with the city versions of the Kobe 1. All with that tough upper, which I know wouldn’t really make it a “Protro” if they don’t keep the design. Maybe nice patent leather on the toe box? Maybe a translucent side panels? Nice leather on the inside of the collar?

I have a few pairs of the originals. In my opinion, aside from the cushioning these play the same. Which I ain’t mad. I really hope they release the Carpe Diem cw, which was the 1st colorway they released back then. I missed out on those.
I just played in the draft day Kobe 4 protro, size 10 in my basketball league game. For reference, I normally wear size 10 in all my Nikes (Kobe 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11) and size 9.5 in adidas (ultraboost 3.0). The fit was very long and there was too much toe space. I would suggest possibly going down 1/2 a size. Thus, I believe a 9.5 would have fit better. Overall, the cushion was decent but nothing great. Traction was decent. Overall, I give it a B- given the bad fit.

Nightwing bro do you think the paint will chip on a toe drag? I kinda drag my toe alot and I don’t want to buy these if they’re gonna chip. They sooo fire tho but some shoes chip like the Kyrie 5.
They sold out by the time I got up mostly everywhere and then three days later I walked into a Footlocker and they had a pair displayed so I asked and their last two pairs were a half size up and a half size down, so I copped the half size up and they are great shoes to ball in.

I had the gold medal version and I totally remember they were narrow sizing and I was size 10.5 with it and did the same with the protro, size 10.5 Did you do the same? Like your size on your kobe IV OG and Kobe IV protro same? Really don't like the price hike obviously and to your point they should have at least put premium materials for the masses cause we know they can afford that and still profit from it. Hopefully Zoom Air is top loaded or it can be felt directly from the insoles though.

When I got the OG Kobe 4s in the regular white/purple color way, it was my go to shoe until I wore it out. I miss those.
The Kobe 4 started the current low top movement in the NBA. A game changing shoe at the time. I remember people being scared to play in them.

They sold out by the time I got up mostly everywhere and then three days later I walked into a Footlocker and they had a pair displayed so I asked and their last two pairs were a half size up and a half size down, so I copped the half size up and they are great shoes to ball in.
Can't wait mine to arrive later! I had the gold medal version and I totally remember they were narrow sizing and I was size 10.5 with it and did the same with the protro, size 10.5

Ospinra That’s what happened to the protro 1’s but when they release more colorways the resell value will go down. I also bought the infrared 6’s instead of these because I want a lakers colorway.
