Very nice journey and very lovely filmmaking. 1.5 Years ago, I travelled by train from Amsterdam to Rome in a night and a day. Starting in Amsterdam with the Nightjet to Innsbrück and from there bij EC to Verona. In Verona I took the Italian Highspeed train to Rome. It took me 25 hours, including sleeping in the train and a change of 4 hours in Innsbrück. Truly a lovely ride,
Thank you for sharing your experience! A 25-hour journey is indeed long, but it sounds like an unforgettable adventure. On my return trip, I traveled from Napoli to Munich, via Rome, Bologna, and Innsbruck, and I found it to be a beautiful route. I can understand why you enjoyed it so much. Long train rides always stay with me as cherished memories. Truly a beautiful experience.
Thanks! Train travel in Europe is awesome. It's such a different experience from flying-the journey itself feels like a vacation. You should totally do it!
In the time of the good old international trains I travelled from Rome to Amsterdam and back in couchette car, without changes; the trip took about 22 hours. Sleeping car was available too. Now, even with all these high speed trains, it is unimaginable such a trip and this travel time.
@directorient That sounds like an incredible journey! The old sleeping trains definitely had something special. I’ve read that sleeper trains are making a comeback, with new routes planned, like Amsterdam to Barcelona. It’s great to see this classic way of travel becoming popular again. Maybe in the future, people will be able to choose between high-speed trains and sleeper trains 🚊
I made a mistake in the comments. I mentioned Düsseldorf airport station, but it should be Frankfurt airport station. I overlooked this error, and I'll update the comments on RUclips to correct it. Thanks for letting me know🙏 I definitely enjoyed my trip. Traveling by train is one of my favorite ways to travel. Each journey is a unique experience 😊
It’s a very smooth travel, last month I took the train from Aachen to Munich which took me 10 hours, track blocked because of Bauarbeiten, so I had to take Ersatzbus to get RE 1 in Düren. Then my ICE got delayed for 30 mins in Köln Messe, later it was broken in Stuttgart. One hours sitting on the ICE with Driver not sure if the train can be fixed or not, then driver told us it is doomed, we need to catch another train. One and half hour to wait another ICE, then 30 minutes unexpected stop near Munich Hbf 😅 it should only takes me one hour from Aachen to Köln, and 4 hours from Köln to Munich, thanks Deutsche Bahn, taught me no matter how hurrying you are, you just can’t rush it. It’s fate.
You were really unlucky with that trip! It sounds exhausting. I like your positive attitude about the flow and accepting it as fate. If your train is delayed that long, you should definitely check if you can get a refund. When I went to Berlin, I got 50% of my money back due to delays.
Ah, how nice! 2027 will be here sooner than you think. Time flies by so quickly. Most foreign travelers that I see are from America and Canada so far 😊
Thanks! That sounds like an awesome trip. Bergamo is a good choice. I think the route will be similar but in Milan you continue to Bergamo (I guess) I recommend first class to you. Anyway, have an awesome trip! 😊
@WINGSANDRAILS I used to travel in second class, but I changed my approach because of difficulties with reservations. Now, I mostly book Interrail passes when they have a 10-20% discount, which often lets me get first class for the base price of second class, like during Black Friday.
Thanks for your comment! I actually traveled with an Interrail pass, which made it more affordable. For the two high-speed ICE trains, there were no reservation costs; you can just sit wherever there's a spot. For the third high-speed train from Brig to Milan, I only had to pay €15 for the reservation. I highly recommend getting an Interrail pass if you're planning to do multiple train journeys across Europe 😊
Thank you for noticing the mistake. Someone already caught it, and unfortunately I cannot change it in the video. I put the correction in the description. I also added a correction in the video at 4:30. Around that time, there should be a pop-up in the right corner, and when you click on it, it says it should be Frankfurt airport station. Thank you again.
I am sitting here all confused. After leaving Cologne and travelling at high speed , your next stop is Airport Düsseldorf??? I bet it was Frankfurt because first of all Düsseldorf is north of Cologne, second Düsseldorf does not have a train station in the airport and last but not least Milan is south of Cologne . Still a nice video.
Yes, you're right, it's Frankfurt, not Düsseldorf. I've updated the description and added a correction pop-up in the video, but the description is quite small, so it's easy to miss. Thanks for watching and for the compliment on my video!
Italy has incredible, fantastic food. So far, I have tried pasta and pizza. Next time, I will try gourmet dishes if I can resist the quattro formaggi pizza 🍕 thank you for your comment
It would be great. I once traveled from Amsterdam to Turkey by train, and it took me 4 days. It was a nice journey. Maybe in the future, there will be better and faster connections.
