Vaemonds reasoning is purely ambitious and not about blood. Because Rhaenyras kids marrying Daemons daughters fixes the blood issue. Their children will be Velaryon bc they will inherit it from Daemons daughters. It will carry their Targ blood and Velaryon blood so both issues are fixed.
But Vaemond didn’t know about the marriage pact with the kids until he was already stood before the king. Blood definitely has a part to play because if Rhaenyras children weren’t bastards he wouldn’t have questioned the succession in the first place
@@ekitchensink748 But as corlys says ambition has always been a Velaryon weakness. You are right be didnt know about the pact at first but once he did learn he still stood his ground and wanted the seat for himself despite Corlys wishes. He wasnt completely wrong to want the seat but he signed his own death warrant when he kept insisting.

The crown falling off and Daemon putting it on etc.. was all improvised and wasn't supposed to happen.
