Thank you for this great explanation, it totally fits for me. I was draped as a winter 30 years ago & it was accurate. I’ve never been able to wear any of the greens, except dark teal & absolutely no yellow. I have light to medium olive skin, blue rim around cool brown eyes. Hair used to be dark, but now has a lot of white in it. I turn true reds orange, so my reds are more berry colored. I’m loving your cool, bright & deep palette. I’ve customized it & found I can wear just over 1/2 the colors. My olive skin & high contrast being the reason. I removed the pastels & anything with any yellow in it, with the odd exception of chartreuse, which looks good with navy or black & reddish purple. Loving your system because I’m not cool, bright or deep like the 12 season thing suggests, I’m cool, bright AND deep.
Omg that was the most simple comprehensive video ever.Thank you! I always think well if I’m warm olive , them why does the cooler colors look best on me. You summed that up so great!
Hi Jen, I have a very golden medium olive skin tone, and I have to be very careful not to wear very cool pinks and purples, because they bring out the green in my skin. Its just too different and makes me even more sallow by comparison. Actually, I really like the soft warm and deep palette on me. I just need to avoid anything bright and light (doesn't matter if its warm or cool) But, the SWD colors are neutralized enough to warm my skin up in a good way.😊
I think I have olive skin, but I am dark blonde. And it is true, pink colors look very flattering. But also coralred / coralpink and an intense apricot. Other cool colors from winter work good aswell. Summer looks terrible. Too washed out. But actually I love spring colors most. Somehow the Orange or golden yellow makes my Skin more "yellow" but in a way that I even like. As if it makes me look healthier, if it makes sense. So I use colors from every palette except summer 😂
@@tomars312 I am someone who was analysed by several professionals in 5 different ways. Three said I am olive, one said neutral, the others pulled me through every single season 🤣🤣🤣
Even professional hairdressers etc make the mistake of assuming I'm warm because of my olive toned skin. I'm either cool or neutral I think. It isn't that clear.
I think very few people are solidly neutral, most are neutral-cool leaning or neutral-warm leaning on a spectrum, so you might be neutral but with some level of coolness.
I can’t figure it out. I thought I was cool but I learned I need more of a cool brown for my eyebrows. I also look better in cooler pinky nude nail polishes. However, my wrist veins seem to be green and when I go blonde golden or honey blonde looks better. I also get the most complements when I wear bright spring colors
Doesn’t work for me. I think olive skin tones, like everything else, is on a spectrum. I have very pale skin. There is some olive to it. I can see it when I hold a white piece of paper next to my face. (I’m part Italian.) but it is not dominant. Pinks don’t work unless there is some yellow in them. Navy blue is horrible. So I don’t think this take on olive skin is hard and fast. Of course, you have never done that. I just want to emphasize that there is a spectrum.
I agree. The more I study olive skin tone, the more I see a spectrum. It is challenging to say olive skin tone is X when you're are so right. I'm finding that there are some olives that are more yellow and look better in the warm color palettes. There are just some colors to avoid. And then others that are more green fall into what I describe in this video. I hear and appreciate your feedback
