Byer Koi Farm Visit - Part One

- A trip to one of the UKs best Koi farms, if not the best!
Ive not been down to Adam and Amanda's Koi farm for some 2 years, so thought what better time to pop down with GoPro in hand and get a tour of the new facilities and a look at some of the fish.
Also the pond of Khaku fry is the actual fish that will be available in the Koi Diaries, Byer Farm Grow and Show 2021! So you may already of seen the winner lol all be it about 1" in size haha.

Remember the filtration in the poly tunnels cant be turned off! So as such there is quite a bit of background noise, you can here the conversations but this is just what it is, noisy lol

Specs :-
3000 gallons, Block built, box weld liner, aerated bottom drain, QK22 drum filter, QK midi shower with 30kg of Midori Infrared Bacteria Home media and 10kg Lotus root Bacteria home media, 3ft votex with 100ltr K1 micro. Byers koi farm definitely on my visit list. Can not wait 😁
The beni quality on his kohaku just gets better and better each year that male nisai at £295 was well worth a punt and just love that style of pattern that a lot of his kohaku have 😮👏👏👏

Those were some beautiful Koi.
I would most likely buy the Second Koi he showed because from here the Patterns looked symmetrical and consistent, no signs of color fading or lighter markings.
Then I would go for the Third Kohaku for it's Red Color intensety, but overall they were all nice.
It is nice to see a Koi Farm in the U.K. and I look forward to Part Two.

The first kohaku in the bowl (imo) has the typical markings of an adam byer single step kohaku and is very reminiscent of the one you have Andy.
YEah its funny how his Koi selections are now pinpointable to him! The whites and the Beni depth really was amazing, even on the ones which maybe not as desirable for other reasons these qualities are there!

Hey Andrew, I always love your videos but can I make a tiny suggestion? When you interview people maybe you could provide the interviewee with a microphone. It may not be easy technically but just thought I'd mention it as you can't hear your interviewees very well. Thank you anyway :)

Lovely fish well priced but I find it funny Queni koi label the drumfilters as there own....there dvs Dutch made I own one myself a CL65 extended version.
But I can’t wait to see the second part

Where can I get those large round stock tanks ?
This place is exactly how I imagined it would be when I was in my 20s.
In those days there was a father and son, Derrick, who had a successful home-grown operation at Wirral in Merseyside and I often visited them.
They used brine shrimp for tropical fish to feed their fry, and although the scale of production was not in the realm of amateurs, it was successful.
Apart from that, Dennis took me to a large fish farm in Chester or somewhere.
It was a facility that utilized the residual heat from the incineration of garbage, which showed a lot of potential and they had the technology to control spawning time by using hormone injections, which was something that Japan didn't have.
I had the opportunity to introduce OYAGOI to a friend in Yorkshire after I changed jobs, but never heard the rest of the story.
In any case, at that time, there was no such thing as the way of culling on the web as we see now, so it seems that the basic thing of the repetition of indispensable culling was not understood, and it ended up with the work of just letting them spawn and just raising them, like the Israelis.
Correction.
The friend was not in Yorkshire. On closer inspection, he was the one who was going to try it in Somerset in the West.

A bit off topic but great drone shots. What is the make and model of drone you use?
Its a DJI Mavic Mini, reason being i went small, no need to register it as its under 250g ;-) Great little thing!
Koi Diaries gives a great picture for a mini!
@@craiglarson7004 can film up to 2.7k really a great drone, its my first dabble into this stuff and im more than happy its amazing, not quite as good on blustery days due to its size but if its that windy you probably wouldnt be out anyway
