this is a beautifull song, i saw it yesterday, and i thought that it was amazing that Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber was there. It was a absolutely gorgeous performance. She should have won
her voice is SO beautiful.
It was a very good entry, and Jade did us proud - our best result of the last 15 years. But Alexander Rybak thoroughly deserved to win that year :)

@@kharma101 They're right actually. 5th out of a field of 40 is top ~11%, whereas 3rd out of 24 is only top 12.5%. By percentile, Jade placed higher

She did a show for Eurvision, Your Country Needs You, which she won hence she performed for the uk, keep a look out for Jade she has an album coming out this year too in which Gary Barlow amongst others has written on. BTW she's from Paistow, London

@505kira I believe she came 5th. The UK's highest ranking in years. I personally believed that she should have won with this song, I mean come on, it was beautifully written by a legendary song writer and composer and she sung it at a high standard.
i'm glad we came 5th because our recent hight position was 23rd we've improved by 18 positions. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i like the show when they auditioned for who is gonna perform in ESC and jade won! :D and look were it got us 5th place! i hope they do the same thing with the auditions again who knows,could come 1,2,3 ^^

Our best entry for about 20 years until this year (2022) when we finally stopped moaning that the contest was political (of course it is) and submitted a decent song with an excellent singer.
I find it amusing that some people dismiss this entry with an off-hand expletive. I look forward to the song you write and produce for next year's entry. Be sure to post your efforts here for our appraisal.

Did someone actually play the piano here, on top of the track? It is a lot more piano playing here than in the actual Eurovision version... is the whole performance actually with a real orchestra? :O

I remember, there was presented at first the 1st version of the song. It was with a big orchestra, and at the end there was a fast drum sound, similar to the one at the end of Tony Christie's classic "So deep is the night". I can't find it anywhere now, any body could help? Thanks!
The beginning was a bit pitchy...she's really not bad though. She sings better than a lot of people can.

As as British person, I would be embarrassed if we were to win Eurovision, it would be a large step backwards in our musical heritage. It makes me much more proud to come from a country that produces cutting edge Glastonbury headliners, not have our only exposure and fame in some euro cheese-fest, sorry.

This song was clearly written for her, the others didn't stand a chance. Not that I could write any better but not one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's best either.

And yes! I have also encounterd my fair share of European music I don't like just as there are British bands and music I don't like much. ;).
would have some other year in my opinion... this year norway was just too good for any challenge
because the year iceland and norway had better songs. it placed well and in another year it might have won but it wasnt even the second best song that year so you cant really complain.

'Skyifictionable' commented that the UK doesn't win because the songs are shit and not because of political voting. The UK won when Tony Blair first came into power and when the Iraq shit kicked off barely scraped 2 points. If you think the whole thing ISN'T political or indeed rigged then you are rather naive. This song was a bit too theatrical and I'm glad the UK didn't win but it was clearly one of the best songs there by far. This hasn't been a song contest for quite some time.
Our entry was a tedious dull entry, but give Jade credit she sang it well on the night, as for the winner Norway - he was a bit CHEESEY!

Norway had a good entry, and I'm glad it won, but this and Estonia were my winner and 2nd place. 12 years of bad placings (except 2002) broken, at least :)

She doesnt give it enough UMPH in certain parts because she's seemingly scared of the power of her voice (she's gives it a bit more toward the end however.)
Also the song itself isnt particularly spectacular... it sounds like a monologue from a musical... not like an upbeat pop song like most of the others.

Her voice is amazing, but the song is too musical-like, and is not, to be honest, very good. The melody is at times all over the place, at times nearly non-existant, so it`s hard to capture people with it; and when it comes to the lyrics nearly all you can hear is "it`s my time" or "it`s my time now". The song completely belongs in a musical, because it seems like it`s part of a story.
