the sight reading you get given in the exam:
yes
I'd hand in my sticks.
Pretty much what happened to me at my jazz band audition a week ago.
Way better title name
4:13 hand?
I don't care what instrument, if the solo starts with you doing a headstand you're a certified madlad
The winner of that drum battle ruclips.net/video/pRTAu52G9Lg/видео.html
Pretty sure this is a classic for cello solists
Well then, Jason Parsons from USS gets that certification every concert!
@@nilsp9426 Dvorak cello concerto grand opening
If your “wow factor” has zero to do with anything you actually played...that’s telling you something and it’s not a good thing lol. Aric is a good drummer when it comes to energy but nothing really unique or impressive about his playing.
He actually didn’t even win the drum-off contest that year, he came 2nd behind Juan Carlos Mendoza, highly recommend watching all the finalists, most stacked final quality wise
Bro how tho, how do you beat that!?
Juan Carlos did a tremendous solo that year 💯💯
Just looked up Mendoza's solo based on your comment. It's absolutely bonkers.
How, dude. Any link pleasE?
Nvm, I found it ruclips.net/video/pRTAu52G9Lg/видео.html&ab_channel=GuitarCenter
But for me 2nd please is much more interesting ;)
As a former high school jazz band drummer, I know that good drum transcriptions are rare. George, you did a fantastic job!
This was not transcribed by George (check description)
"Transcribed by: Artur Spivak"
Hey Sam, check measure 17. There are plenty of issues with the transcription - the drumming and performance however are the very impressive parts of this video in my opinion..
@@snared_ the first two beats are actually firsts and lasts notes of a semi quaver? But that's on measure 16, 17 maybe the open hi hat is actually on beat but other than that it's fine
as a drummer, this guy makes me want to learn more and never stop, and also, i want to quit on the spot
Lol same bro.
Once you get the handstand down, the rest comes naturally.
I've never read a comment more accurate to my reaction to watching drummers like him
Haz visto a Vander?
Man does a 360 shuvit mid drum solo.... instant fan.
Tony Hawk's Pro Drummer
straight up perfect 360, that was no joke
As a drummer, I appreciate the font you used for your transcription. I bet every drummer will recognize this font.
Artur Spivak did the transcription
@@CM_CM_ Joe Biden did this translation.
Is it the porn hub font or something?
@@n1nj4l1nk Guitar Pro
@@n1nj4l1nk hahaha WHAT?? bro you funny
Writing your bands names on your snare to advertise is genius. Genuinely good bands too
Wow... real freakin genius. Talk about setting a low bar
@@Banksysstuntdouble have you had a bad day, my friend?
I paused to read it. Played a show with Letlive and Mozart Season way back when they were starting off in a little bar in Reno. Still listen to both. Fucking excellent bands
@@Banksysstuntdouble dmabsss
@@GCimprezaFTW night verses is indeed good shit. i forgot about mozart season, i used to listen to them regularly back in like 2010. shit, that means i lost their cd.
First I was impressed. then the movement became inhuman. then I realised I had the video playing at 1,25x speed. I fixed it. The movements remained inhuman.
I think I heard someone say "The best moments in a drum solo is when they aren't playing the drums" and I think this embodies that so much
George always amazing to see your clips and transcriptions, you find the best stuff.
This was transcribed by Artur Spivak, not by George
It’s just so insane how dynamic it is. You feel everything.
Most amateur live environments and house engineers will gate and compress all of this expression out of the kit.
He's the drummer for Night Verses. Definitely worth checking out
Best recommendation, to date! Thank you!
So is this guy ruclips.net/video/pRTAu52G9Lg/видео.html
4:10 no one talks about the perfectly executed off-beat shoulder tap
1:57 is the most impressive bit by far. That's insane.
blast beat plus octapad is nuts
This must be the mysterious man behind the huge costume in the famous "drummer at the wrong gig" video
LOL when i saw the title of the video, that mascot was the first thing i thought of
@@jessicalu2104
I was also really surprised nobody had mentioned it already.
no, it’s been confirmed that person is a girl, her name is nyangostar, a childrens character from Japan
@@joelcomer Nah, Nyango Star is the name of the mascot, and Nyango Star is male. The person wearing the costume *might* be Nao Kawakita, the female drummer from Maximum the Hormone, but that's not confirmed.
@Kevin Raines ah, thank you for correcting me!
Dude is literally crazy about drumming. That is dedication to his craft for sure
I love that Aric Improta is getting recognition from George. I saw this a few years back and thought to myself "finalist, not winner?" and then checked out Night Verses, which had amazing music but an average vocalist, and I lost interest. They got rid of their vocalist in 2017 and seem to be 100% instrumental now and I love it! Their album From the Gallery of Sleep is fantastic.
Oh no wonder this is so good! I didn't know this was the guy from night verses but they're so good!
Nice, I'm always looking for new music. Never heard of them. The album made me gasp for air. Really amazing. Thank you kindly.
Indeed 👍
THAT'S WHO THIS IS?!?! Amazing
So clean it can cure most known diseases
That chair flip at 4:25 😳👌🏼
Best part
It said "this is what I do to relax, I'm really a skater"
Don't even care that he's not keeping a consistent tempo...his advanced technique, his incorporation of different styles, and his use of a synth pad in combination with his showmanship make this a treat for the audience.
Love his throne spin 😂
Consistent tempo doesn’t really matter for a solo piece like this. The tempo is just one addition way of adding more expression.
@@isaiahmumaw A perfectly fair point. Rubato is common classically and is used for popular genre as well.
0:01 OMG!!!😱😱😱
I’ve never ever in my whole life have seen a drummer doing a hand stand while playing the hi hat and the bass drum with his both hands in perfect rhythm while opening a performance. He was an incredibly crackerjack throughout his insane drum solo.👏👏👏
I KNEW THE THUMBNAIL LOOKED FAMILIAR
It's been YEARS since I saw this guy. A friend of mine was actually in the same drum off competition as this guy that year
YES!!!!! I've been waiting for you to transcript this since the begining of your channel! thank you, you've trully made my day
If he can put this much enthusiasm into fishing, I have a job waiting!
A BIIIIIIIIG shoutout to Artur Spivak who transcribed this insanity. Anyone who writes drum scores will appreciate how hard that was!!!
3:03 where he starts to put some incredible drumming agility, skill and performance from out of this world to the audience. His drumming styles like his quavers, pedal kicks and triplets were unimaginably great.👏👏👏
One of the few drum solo's I'm actually enjoying listening to
Incredible fusion style
That call and response section with the kick drum and the snare/hihats was super cool
If anyone feels up to it, Aric Improta has a 39 minute drum solo on the Meinl cymbals channel, fully practiced and rehearsed. One of the best performances I have ever, ever seen. Highly recommend it.
Man, this jump at 04:20 was both awesome and totally unexpected. Although after the headstand at the beginning I believe you can expect literally anything.
yeah, that's what you want from a drum solo... headstands, jumping, twirling sticks. not sticking to the tempo or musicality
@@Gurnu Jeez, somebody’s a hater.
what a madlad holy crap
The passion is motivating.
That random hand coming out of the void to slap him in the back 4:14
Whoa what happened there? Didnt notice haha!
Btw its amazing that you can distinguish between a 205 and 203 tempo
'Hi! I'm a drummer, and I work at a circus, doing monkey-tricks'.
love to see you do his "attention deficit drumming" series as well. so much crazy stuff in those
Aric Improta is an absolute monster, one of the most unique and fun to watch guys playing today
His drum stool is stronger than my will to live
It's funny as a drummer how you realize the "easiest" parts are always the parts that sound the most insane to the crowd
Idea: You could do the transcription for Rowan Atkinson's invisible drum kit sketch drum solo.
I think he already has it in his channel....
Energy and elegance, power and precision, showmanship and heartfelt screaming with a beautiful awareness of dynamics.
I'm a drummer who usually isn't too fond of drum solos, but this is absolutely amazing 🤩✨💚✨🤩
Crazy talent. Dudes up top above the rest why hasn't any major band taken him in
Dude. I was secretly hoping for a back flip at the end, but this will do. This will do.
That was tight, when he used both the octapad and the drums. My spine had shivers.
You played drums like a monster. what a talent you have. 👏❤️
As a guitarist, this makes me want to practice more. Awesome stuff :D
Bro we need to give whoever transcribed this a medal. He sacrificed himself for us
George you're actually crazy for transcripting this
Imagine my disappointment when the yell wasn't notated at 3:02 ....
Alongside the ones at the end during the rallantando.
*WRAAAAH*
Same goes for the jumps and chair spin haha.
Or the chair jumping. 🤪🤷🏼♂️😶🌫️
truly the craziest drum solo i have ever seen. that must’ve been a years worth of practice in 5 minutes
Such a cool dude. His band Night Verses is awesome too
This is the craziest transcription ever
Man this Guy is crazy , weird cattube didn't censored this.
Wow! What a wild ride!
4:21
The cocaine finally kicks in
😂
He plays as smooth as his hair
He looks like Tarzan if Tarzan discovered a passion for percussion
"Myyyyy skeletoooooooon!!!"
That was pretty awesome !
가슴이 웅장해지는 드럼 솔로 잘 봤씁니다
Very good dynamic control……..the man is pure and natural……his drum sounds even better!!
He's doing absolutely THE MOST!!! Very entertaining to watch!
I've heard people criticise Aric for this solo, saying things like "he could never keep a beat while playing with a band" etc. and to that I say BULLSHIT. To make a judgement like that based entirely off of a competitive drum solo, the entire point of which is to showcase (you guessed it) the drummer, is ludicrous. He is entirely within his right to use expressive tempo changes, do a fucking 360 with his throne or even a backflip like he often does at shows to excite and engage the audience, which he evidently succeeds at doing. I've seen him live with Fever 333 twice (I even met him briefly) and can confirm that he keeps a beat perfectly well, whilst also showcasing a level of technical ability and showmanship that few drummers can boast simultaneously.
lol anyone criticizing him isnt a musician, or if they are they arent much of one. he had plenty of swing and feel, but was just throwing it all out there to be relentless on top of the traditional time keeping stuff. it would be a workout to keep up with him, but in the interest of fleshing out compositions/songs (for playing out or recording) some accommodations from each participant would be a good idea...
This is another example of proof that all drummers are crazy!
If you are lucky enough to know one, you have a band!
the man dude guy did a shove it! jheeeeeeeze
This inspired me to actually tune my snare
Cocaine is a helluva drug
Btw, the work of transcribing that is equally impressive
Sick drumming.
Did anyone notice the hand at 4:14??
They’re only allowed 5 minutes so that’s Guitar Center’s way of telling them “1 minute left”
@@SlapChopMyShamWow Oh wow thanks for the info
Haha
@@SlapChopMyShamWow I was about to be creeped out! 😂
I can't believe you even caught that. It was in frame for only 208 milliseconds. - 5 frames at 24fps

Nice of the audience to show up during this guy’s practice
This is the Solo that introduced me to LetLive. One of my all time favorite bands.
I have those same chucks in my car
Good to see this dude get transcribed in one of your vids. I’ve seen chops like his, but with that much emphasis on style? Hardly!
Homo sapiens will sometimes go extreme lengths to impress potential mates
Damn that Dude is Wicked
Wow.
Those must have been some really...
really...
REALLY...
...good drum sticks.
That man’s technical ability is insane. He can play fast very consistently, which is something a lot of drummers struggle with
As a saxophonist who can’t understand this transcription, I just really enjoy looking at something while he plays
Ah yes, my favorite percussion
jumping
dude starting the solo with a handstand be like...
This is Aric Improta and he's a absolute beast behind he kit! Check out the song Copper Wasp by his band Night Verses, it will blow your mind.
This reminds me of Benson's drum solo for some reason from Regular Show.
Good drummer, needs consistency. I admire and appreciate, admit that he has all the necessity for a good drummer nothing to be taken away ,Damn he good!.I'll leave it at that. ☆☆☆☆☆
Wow
My neighbors be like
Aric Improta is the most creative drummer I've ever heard, every one needs to see him play the intro to Copper Wasp live, it's insane.
okay the solo is great but the fact u wrote it all down is impressive asf
For me is just the second place, no more.
I thought it was clickbait until I saw it was Aric lol
A supernova of ability and musicianship, Night Verses is incredible
Benson's back at it again
I really like the part with the cowbell.
i wanna see this guy and the pink saxophone guy performing together
The way he holds back in the first part is magical
I like Neil Peart esk part with the beat pad
You CANNOT convince me that this man has not been intimate with every part of his drum.
I'm a guitarist but whew that snare tone
it’s good, but i prefer more meaty tones
