Watching from the Philippines!!! Thank you for visiting Malawi, now I know the beauty of its countryside. Sadly, my brother in law died in an accident in Malawi sometime in 2010 I gues, he was serving as a volunteer for an NGO.
🕊Hi Kinga, just an extra bilharzia comment. The host for the parasite is a type of snail that can only exist in slow moving or static water. In Lake Kariba, for example, you may well catch bilharzia if you swim from the shore, but if you take a boat out to deep water you will be OK. Rule of thumb: fast flowing water, small rapids etc, guaranteed no host snails and thus no bilharzia. In the 1960s and 70s the 5-day cure was awful, horrible. Stay safe😉Ernie
Greetings from Romania! I discovered your channel about a week ago and spent the last week watching all your videos from episode 1. You entered Romania from Bulgaria through my city. I wish I could had meet you then.
Thank you for yet another amazing video. Kinga. Malawi is a beautiful country with nice friendly people. I am sure that you must be looking forward to resuming your travels.
Being from Africa, just a few tips... avoid ice in your drink because you do not know the quality of the water is was made from.. also only cooked food! Avoid salads as Hepatitis is also quite common... this not an issue in a place like South Africa but further North that is a reality! Of course we will not need to talk about Malaria right? Do not take a chance, any flu like symptoms just get tested immediately! Safe travels and enjoy Africa! Love your channel and you!
The real danger is folks heading back to Western countries and not understanding bilharzia. Often doctors in the US and EU don’t know what symptoms to look for so it can get quite bad. I had a friend in Italy take 2 years to get a correct diagnosis while my African doctor sorted me out immediately
Hi again. Maybe you should also give info about Putzi fly larvae. Prevention: iron ALL your laundry (it kills the eggs left by the flies. Never leave your towel out on the ground - if you do, IRON it before use!😉
Not when She's riding..I like to hear what she hears..the engine..the sounds...makes you feel like you are there..or is she listening to the same music while she is riding....If you like a comparism...go to " Royal Jordanian " 's channel... the engine sounds are great...like when he rides his NUDA in London...or BMW 1000 RS ..climbing the Stelvio pass in Italy.. But yes..I love this travel Channel...Kinga is great.
Nice relaxed riding&music past interesting trees, kids, cows, even though a market and important and comprehensive medical insights and precautions about (also) Malawi lake...thank you for this great and beautiful vlog about Africa!!!
Hello. Two years ago, when you traveled to Iran, a traffic policeman tried to take extra money from you because of the road, but fortunately failed. I saw that video and recorded that part to hand over to the Iranian police. I was very upset that the police wanted to do that, especially motorcyclists like you. Rest assured that the Iranian police inspectorate will take action against that corrupt police to prevent this from happening again. Meanwhile, I was very, very happy that you were a guest of my country and city (Kermanshah) on a motorcycle for a few days 🌹🌹🌹❣❣❣❤❤❤

I grew up in a rubber plantation. The smell of raw rubber is still in my head. We call the house mosquito house cos rubber and mosquitos are a match made in heaven. Thanx OHB. A big thanx
Decades ago in primary school when we learned about African countries we were warned specifically about the lakes (any stagnant water) and the risk of bilharzia and other parasites. Yikes.

I'm glad you found that doctor and got your treatment. It sounds very nasty. Another place to scratch off of my bucket list.

Ive been to Malawi a number of times, as much as ive never been infected, this is good to know!...will take the precaution next time.
Just because you don't show symptoms doesn't mean you don't have the parasite in your body. I would suggest testing yourself.
Such a maze like route through the village there, Kinga. Sad that they didn't think of your coming through while the fences were put up 😀
Great advice Kinga, I hope you were 👍.

That's correct. You can only catch it at the shore.
