Karen: Calling someone 'Karen' is a slur and racist
Me who didn't know yet Karen was a race: 😳
i wonder what their skin color looks like. blue, maybe?
@@bleunight9199 You don't have to be white to be "a Karen," guys. It's about irrational entitlement, not a race-based flaw. And there's no such thing as a race-based flaw, anyway. This is about human behavior, not skin color.
@@ChrisMaxfieldActs It's called a joke.
Bleu Night I would love to see their blue faces as they all slowly disappear.
Chris Maxfield they aren’t saying you need to be white. They were just pointing out how Karen’s think saying “Karen” is a RACIAL slur when it really has nothing to do with race.
People saying 'Karen' is racist, clearly don't know what the word racist means. Just saying.
Karen is a white women stereotype. I don’t think it’s racist, just a stereotype. But I do see how they can get that from it though.

Karen: KAREN IS A RACIST SLUR WORSE THAN THE N-WORD
Me: In the words of John Mulaney, “First off… no. If you’re comparing the badness of two words and you won’t even say one of them? That’s the worse one.”
Omg I was thinking that the whole time lol
The N-word is as bad as the other N-word.
Being called either is likely to get you beaten up.
But Karen is still a racist slur. This is how things start
@@registryd3069 No, it is not. Karens can and are from any race, or religion. Saying it's racist is racist, why? That means you are automatically assuming all Karens are of the same race, most likely whatever yours is.
If they are comparable, wouldn't Karens have K-word privileges and be able to say it?
People who think "Karen" is a slur have never suffered a day of hardship in their lives

Hi rslash
Hello
"Kids show no respect" adults cry, aka "I want to belittle kids and then cry victim when they defend themselves"
Reminds me of the one post that said "if you won't respect me like authority, I won't respect you like a person"
Treating kids like human beings? Nah, clearly they can't think for themselves
Imo, I’m 20, and the kid was just being an angsty teen.
Respect is earned. I will never understand how old people think they deserve respect when they've shown none.
White women have been calling Black women "Shenaenae'l "La'Quisha" and "ShaNiqua" in a demeaning manner since the 80's. Latinas were called "Consuela" "Guadalupe" or "Maria" and Asian women were called "Ling-Ling" but they can't handle being called Karen for a few months...

that woman who said women shouldn’t vote is the same girl who says “yOu KnOw I cArRy RiGhT” it’s kaitlyn bennett
Izzy Elias is kinda true they do statistically vote emotionally and AND originally woman did not want the right the vote or the majority didn’t because they didn’t want to be put in the draft but all the women brag about how we had to earn the right to vote but in the end it was the men who gave them the right to vote NOT saying they don’t deserve the right to vote just saying some of the points were true
...We Know what she did last summer...
@ Xx Sogeking xX half of all voters regardless of gender vote based solely on the candidates political party with no consideration towards policy or qualifications. Which is the intellectual equivalent of saying I’m rooting for them because their wearing my teams jersey. Also this is America it doesn’t matter who can vote anyway it only matters who’s allowed to be an electorate.
@@kingusopp8377 You have a few of your own misconceptions there. The anti suffrage movement claimed they were the silent majority. Just claimed. Some of them gave reasons about the draft, but a lot were literally just really sexist attitudes. There were even some that thought women didn't need the vote because they could appear neutral in politics and thus affect change from outside manners. There were many women that did want the vote. They marched, and protested, and even illegally voted. They would hold hunger strikes and have food literally force fed to them. There were male allies that helped give them the right to vote, but they earned it by fighting for it. Just like the civil rights movement fought to get the right to vote properly upheld. Of course the ones in power are the ones that have the ability to change it. But they generally have to be prompted by some means of force.
Xx Sogeking xX you cannot be serious
I never understood the "respect your elders" thing. I mean, yeah, show them respect. But that goes for everyone, not just elders. I've seen so many adults just talk condescendingly to children and teenagers and then be surprised when they get the same attitude back. Like what are you expecting? If i had a dollar for every time an older person called me disrespectful after i started treating them the way they treated me, i'd be writing this comment sitting in a hotel room somewhere nice 😂 Age doesn't grant you respect. Your attitude towards others does. And i think it's important to teach our children that, too. My initial approach to people is respect and be kind, no matter who they are, untill they give you a reason to be an ass.
But they lived longer lives than you in a different world than today's, crashed the economy of your country, and sent a younger generation to die in Vietnam. Of course you have to respect your elders, no matter how they treat you.
Burn Angel The ones being sent to war were boomers.
Burn Angel Usually I don’t reply to these comments, but your comment made me lose 10 brain cells. The logic I see this is that you need to respect your elders even if they are emotionally, physically, or sexually abusive to others. That ain’t a “respect your elder’s” case, it’s straight up abuse. Sure they may have gone through more than you did, but that is not a reason to justify shitty behavior.

This is depressing that today’s teens are faced with school shootings and unemployment and are faulted for their immaturity that most adults still struggle with. That’s not a lot of hope and that’s not right. We should’ve done better.
Well one of those could be fixed by changing the gun laws.
@Just Jeff Well you cant shoot someone without a gun. So I logically that would greatly reduce the amount of school shootings.
Rebecca Pierson It’s sad that Americans are the only ones who have to worry extensively about school shootings (Correct me if I’m wrong).
@@Skyrimfruitsnacks also places at war with other places. Some suicidal person could break in and shoot them all.
@Just Jeff It should be made so getting a gun is a lot harder then it is now. Nowadays, you can get a gun without any background check, no seeing if you're mentally stable, nothing. A psychopath with warnings on his profile can get a gun without any problem. The gun laws should be stricter so you have an extensive background check, are tested to see if you're at least mentally sound, and this should be done at least once a year. Also should be a rule to make sure that anyone under the age of 18 in the house cannot get the gun, only in a controlled environment if it's really needed. Otherwise, someone who is unfit can have a gun and who knows what will happen. So that way no one is taking around guns and there is a less likely chance of someone getting hurt.
Edit: Might I add people should have a class on gun rules and violence before they get a gun, as well as laws and regulations. So people know what they should and shouldn't do before hand, and they can't just ignore them because they were told in this lesson. And if you break a law, you have a penalty and cannot get a gun for a certain period of time, if you don't go to jail that is.
So TL;DR: Classes on gun laws and regulations before getting a gun, extensive background check, and checking if the person is mentally stable enough to have a gun. Checks are done at least once a year. Penalties if you break a rule so your guns are taken away for a period of time, the length of the penalty depends on how bad the rule break was if you don't go to jail for it.

I've always heard "respect your elders" from the same people who tell younger folks "you have to earn respect." No sense of irony, apparently.
To me, the “respect your elders” phrase is more often than not used by adults who cry victim when children defend themselves as said adult belittles them for existing
@@ahstiasummers5583 These days, yeah. Back a few centuries ago when we didn't have A/C, airplanes, running water, high-level medical care, and the internet, people actually had to earn their keep. People needed to chop firewood for the night/winter, haul their water from inside a well and back to their homes, and get their news from word-of-mouth or the local crier. I'd imagine "respect your elders" comes from eras like those, where the kids had to carry haul buckets of water or help till the fields all day by the time they hit double-digits, and the elderly were those tough enough to survive childhood AND adulthood by their own blood, sweat, and tears.
Can't remember if it was my nan or dad who witnessed this. Either way it was gold. "Karen is as bad as the N-word!"
Then why don't you say the n-word
I mean, to be fair, this argument doesn't work here. Saying n-word is a punishable offence (at the very least you will get banned and maybe get a fine). Saying Karen isn't. She wants to recognize being called Karen in a derogative way to be considered slur.
Not that it's correct thing to do, but she has a good reason to not say n-word, while no reason (yet) to not use Karen.
Still, I totally agree that those two things are very different, and can't even be compared.
@@Derael Idk where you live where calling someone the n-word is a legally punishable offense, but I want to move there, bc slurs are protected under free speech in America.
@@DopeioThePhoneBoi I didn't say legally punishable, just punishable. You can certainly get banned for it on twitter, etc. I'm not from America, so I'm not sure if slurs can be punished or not, but I'm fairly certain that verbal abuse is not legal at least in some countries. The actual problem is proving that someone actually abused you verbally. Idk how it is in USA, I think it probably depends on the state. Considering that even hardcore racists usually avoid using n-word on the media, I'm pretty sure there are at least some consequences (or they simply don't want to get banned).

Racism has lost its meaning because of Karens
Sadly
Racism lost its meaning since the early 2010's... when Karen's of all colours, creeds and genders demanded insane things after they decided that there was an imaginary power divide... laziness isn't a power gap...
I'm pretty sure it lost its meaning in the 2000s, when the definition was changed to "White people doing anything at any time".

In the words of John Mulaney, about the Karen thing:
"if you're comparing the badness of 2 words, and you wont even SAY one of them...
THATS THE WORSE WORD."
...how does that work though between two bad words?
If the group which can say the N-Word can't say the K-Word... doesn't that mean the K-Word is worse?
But if the group which can say the K-Word can't say the N-Word... doesn't that mean the N-Word is worse?

Regarding the teenager who wants to be treated like a human being... She's right. She is a person, a "soul on board" as pilots put it, and the world runs a lot better when we assume every soul has essential dignity, and deserves respect.
At the same time, I want to point out that every generation has been exposed to the gore of war (mine was Vietnam) and being treated, when young, like some kind of lesser person. (I was a hippy.) Thank God there is so much less racism. Yes, it still stinks up the place, but it has improved greatly. I was blessed enough to hear MLK's famous speech live from downtown (guess what city I grew up in?) There is always a downside to green energy, aside of just weather dependancy.
Wind power needs large open areas to produce sufficient power.
Water powerplants need to flood areas (some more some less) and disrupt water animal migration.
Solar power needs large surface areas and is very expensive and a bit toxic to create.
And nuclear power isnt considered a green energy, cause of nuclear waste, even though it releases no co2 and is by far the most energy efficient and safest power production technique we have.
So i get why people disagree with green energy.
But it is the least harmfull to our enviromemt. Even if you include the large amount of space, toxic production or radioactive waste.
If we optimized just solar, hydro, and wind we can create 30x the amount of energy we use currently by 2050, according to a Sanford study. The amount of toxic waste that results from solar panels, is practically nothing compared to just the natural gas fracking industry alone. Nuclear power isnt even neccessary. We can convert to 100% renewable energy for roughly the same annual cost that we spend on the fossil fuel industry without the costs of global warming and pollution they create. I find it a little hard to understand when people argue vehemently for the lesser of two options. Really, it just seems like people want to ignore science that doesn't agree with their political agenda. The earth doesn't care about our politics though, and we are running out of time to act. The old "everyone has the right to have an opinion" routine is only going to slow the rapid response we need to make, possibly leading to a cascading environmental failure resulting in our own extinction. So, when people tell me they are against renewable energy I usually just tell them to get over themselves, and do what's right for the planet and future generations that need it to live. Fkn selfish, seriously.
To be fair...
If you understand how Energy works there MUST be a downside somewhere unless we can repurpose the downside as well to the point where we find a perfect cycle. Nothing is free, everything has a cost.
Fun fact it would actually be more expensive and much much harder to have faked the moon landing than to have gone to the moon.
In response to the article about teenagers, getting old doesn’t mean you deserve respect you deserve respect when you prove to be respectful yourself. Teenagers can be respectful it’s because of how adults treat us that makes us seem different, it’s not always our own actions.

Even with all of the nuclear reactor disasters, it's still far greener to the environment than coal and even solar and wind when you factor in how not green the production and disposal aspects of solar and wind actually are.

Guys I never thought that I’d encounter a Karen in my life. Here is a bit of backstory. My dad bought an apartment at the end of 2018 for investment and he quickly got a tenant in early 2019. When I first met this woman(Karen) she seemed so sweet and she said that the place was nice and all. She also had that typical blonde Karen haircut. Ok on to the story. Karen never paid rents on time and she always paid them at the end of the month. She paid full amount until this January when she lost her job. She stopped paying the rent and my dad had to keep on reminding her to pay the rent and she only paid like $900 which is not even close to the actual rent she was supposed to pay. But my dad being the nicest person you’d ever meet, he was more understanding of her situation and accepted the $900 and ever since that she stopped looking for a job. My dad didn’t question her until March. He asked Karen to pay full rent and she said, “But I don’t have a job”. My dad told her to start looking for one and she didn’t pay the rent in March. And then we asked her to pay the rent last month. And to that she lied about her having coronavirus just to get more time and she never paid the rent. So this just happened like 10 mins ago. My dad asked her to pay the rent she owes us and vacate the apartment by the end of the month and to that she responded, “but no one has money right now.” My dad got mad and told her to vacate the house by the end of the month and she doesn’t need to pay all the rent money she owes him and to that she texted with” I know I’m your first tenant and even If I move out, no one will rent your place for years.” She said something similiar to that and my dad ignored that text msg, I’m now currently working with my brother and typing a 1 month notice letter to mail it to Karen and to make it official. My family and I agreed that if she doesn’t move out by the end of the month, we’re gonna call the cops on her for trespassing private property. I know this is long but I just needed to get this off my chest.
For future reference, you can get eviction notices and other legal documents at Staples.

Imagine not knowing the difference between Racism and Stereotypical Insults
Amazing. Now, back in the 60s and 70s when I was a teen, I never heard anyone saying anything like what that 16 year old wrote. No teen EVER complained about needing to clean up the mess the adults made of the environment, foreign affairs, the economy, etc. No teen EVER got sick of seeing "bloody images of war" because, of course, we didn't have any wars back then and anyway the camera hadn't been invented yet so nobody could take pictures even if we had had wars. Oh, and we certainly weren't concerned with being drafted and sent to fight in a war we didn't support, unlike teens today who have to deal with that tight feeling in the pit of their stomachs as they approach draft age. No teen EVER feared a recession or was faced with a rising unemployment rate because such things just didn't happen during those halcyon days (though the risk of being stepped on by a dinosaur was much higher). No teen EVER suggested that adults should give us the respect we deserved because we were far more intelligent and mature than we were being given credit for. Yes, teens have changed so much over the decades and now know everything and should be handed the reins of government so they can show all the ignorant adults just how things should be done.
This is the true Murdered by Words lol.
Like seriously. Do these teens have to deal with potential nuclear war? The draft? Unprecedented social changes and in civil rights?
I’m 20, and I just see this as another example of teens being entitled.
Poke Emblem
You do realize how monstrously dumb everything you said is? Sure, past generations have had to deal with those sorts of things, but the current one has to deal with them in entirely new forms. Teens aren’t going around nowadays saying that they should run the world, at least, not most anyways, and as to what you specifically have said I am more than willing to point out the differences in what past generations have experienced from the modern one.
Potential nuclear wars: arguable. Technically no real difference, but that’s because nobody has an actual say in it, save for a handful of people. I will say that technology has vastly improved over the years and what would have been considered powerful targeting systems even a decade ago are now not the most effective, nor even the ones employed.
It’s not like nuclear weapons are able to get any more destructive without being based on more advanced technology.
Draft? Not right now, because the people in charge don’t really have anything to be at each other’s metaphorical throats at over, but should a war ever start, yeah that immediately rockets to the front of everyone’s mind, and survival rates will be lower in a modern war because weapons keep on being improved and developed. It’s like Einstein said: “I know not what weapons World War 3 will be fought with, but World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones.”
Unpredictable social changes? Have you looked outside?
Unpredictable changes in civil rights? Read again what I said in the previous line.
Sure, the modern generation may have more at their fingertips, but that doesn’t mean that people should call them entitled for having what the previous generation gave them.
Isn’t the goal of each generation to make their successors’ lives easier? It seems rather facetious to me to say that a generation is entitled because they had crap you didn’t.
Also, you’re 20 years old, you’re a part of the generation you’re complaining about, you shouldn’t have to have me explain how stuff has developed.
And this comment I’m replying to here was made to criticize a teen who decided to say “hey, maybe it’s a bit rude to view your children as so different and unknowable for having to live in a world shaped by your actions.”
Seriously, crap like this is why teens are so “disrespectful” in the first place.
You’re adults, you’re supposed to be the grown up ones here, as opposed to doing this type of thing. After all, it’s quite a traditionally childish attribute to be unwilling to listen to others.
The girl who wrote that letter PREACH! You are so right
I had an argument, that was very close to the arguments in this video, with people on RUclips, but it was about something stupid, trying to find out what Entei, Raikou, and Suicune were based on. The guys wouldn’t search up “What are the three legendary beasts based on?”
I love how my generation claims they have to clean up the mess of the boomers. Yet, the next generation will say the exact same thing about us.
It’s not set in stone, and if we do a good enough job, they won’t have to, or at least have less of a job to do. You have a point, but we literally have to clean up the mess that past generations have caused or there won’t be a next generation to sweep what should have been cleaned by all of us.
And rn the mess we have to clean up is so unnecessarily big
