Little confused, is this a compilation of all 6 of the previous videos played back to back to back. Just don't want to miss out on anything. I was in Kochi and Kerala this year so very cool to visualize what happened on the ground I once walked an seas near it. Still a lot of Portuguese presence there like old churches and a large Catholic population, plus random walls and buildings or ruins you can tell are old Portuguese stone that are hundreds of years old.
Yes - when I get to a major mile stone, I combine all the videos together into compilation videos. Some people really like the longer format. Its almost like an audiobook. If you're worried about missing out. Go to my YT home page and hit the 'Playlist' section. All the videos in all my series are arranged in order.
This is amazing history and I want to point out how elite Portuguese military and naval expertise basically conquered the world. Post reconquista spain and portugal esentially had unmatched military prowess that took down hordes of local warriors from inca and aztek to indian and other warrior classes. Yes the naval power was big but look at the few hundred troops beating tens of thousands and what that setup. If portugal couldnt have an on land base they never could have continued on to asia and maintained their dominance. Unreal in the face of all the advantages hat local warriors had.
While the Portuguese voyages to India are often celebrated for their maritime achievements, it is important to also discuss the darker side of this history. The Portuguese invasion brought significant destruction to Indian trade, culture, and communities. Forced conversions, violence, and the exploitation of local resources deeply impacted the region. Celebrating such events without acknowledging these consequences risks overlooking the resilience of Indian societies that endured and resisted these invasions. History should be remembered in its entirety, not just through the lens of the victors.

The quality of these videos is truly impressive. Congratulations!
Thank you - and agree with your other comment - Diu should be amongst the most impressive battles in history
amazing series :)
🤴💪🏾❤️ thank you for bringing history to life in such a beautiful way.
You’re so welcome !
Sweet baby Jesus can't wait for part 3
Hahaha - I take it you liked my video
@@FlashPointHx I love them all and watch them multiple times and share them among Portuguese folks that don't even know their legacy. Thank you so much for this, I wish you could be the director of a hollywood movie portraying these adventurous and treacherous times.

Best youtube series ever, though...

i have a book from roger crowley about this adventures
really great
It's the best one on the topic written for the English-speaking world, for sure.
Is Vasco da Gama the GOAT admiral? He heard that 150 ships are coming to attack so he quickly attacks first and destroys everything... Multiple times and after getting away by a hair thread from his death? WTF? GOAT 🐐
He had nerves of steel - but also got insanely lucky
Indeed, super lucky at times. But the courage is unbelievable 🤣 these stories, these battles... It's hard sometimes to believe these men actually existed and they were of steel pretty much
@@kranffel emerging from the Reconquista - they felt that they were doing gods work and were favored by divinity to win - against any odds

Hey thanks so much! Really appreciated!
Great music for this type of video documentary 👌
Yes! The full history in one video. Brings back wonderful memories of the Reconquista series.
Yeah - I love getting the smaller videos together for these larger compilation ones
@FlashPointHx I love the smaller ones too. I use these long ones for my round trip commutes and long drives; they ate a great way to pass the time.
I truly enjoyed this man, was so immersed in the storytelling that I totally forgot that I was watching a youtube video.🙌
Hey - happy you liked my video!
Great video guys! Can't wait to see the rest of the series! Keep up the good work

@@FlashPointHx too bad the colonisers only used it to prophesy and not to season their food 😭
@@bethmarriott9292 The "colonisers" did use spices and to this day depending on the dishes.
@@bethmarriott9292Don't confuse the Portuguese with the British, the Portuguese use spices in their food (e.g. cinnamon in their desserts, peri-peri in their chicken, etc.).
So happy this came out!
Excellent work!
Thank you! Cheers!
I am following "Forging an Empire". Can you please tell me how many parts are there in total.
hoping for 3 parts all together
This is epic, thank you! 🙌
Welcome :)
These videos are definitely my favourite way of learning history
Glad you like them!
Wow what a great documentary. Really enjoyed it
Well...Part 2 just as good, if not better than Part 1. Nicely done, turning the History into "Educational Entertainment". I learned SO much about the Battle of Cochin, I didn't know how strategic the Portuguese were - I used to think it was mostly..."Divine Intervention". So enjoyed UR work, that subscribing was a must. Thx for UR time, talents & effort. 🙏✨
This was so good, I just cant help but hope you make more on the Portuguese!
@@yaki6915 next three videos in this series are already out
great videos, thank you!
Glad you like them!
We are so proud of are History 🙏👍👍👍
Epic! Thank you so much
Anytime!
It's kind of sad how many of the (seemingly) great men were brought down by court intrigue and lies.
Excellent cant wait to watch this
Let me know what you think
Manuel is just spamming fleets
This is amazing history and I want to point out how elite Portuguese military and naval expertise basically conquered the world.
Post reconquista spain and portugal esentially had unmatched military prowess that took down hordes of local warriors from inca and aztek to indian and other warrior classes. Yes the naval power was big but look at the few hundred troops beating tens of thousands and what that setup. If portugal couldnt have an on land base they never could have continued on to asia and maintained their dominance. Unreal in the face of all the advantages hat local warriors had.
@@ryanshaw4250 let’s not forget the disease that they spread

The light and dark side bar of Vasco da Gama 🤣 btw, awesome work. Congrats from 🇵🇹 👌🏼
Yeah I'm big into Sci fi - that had to go in =)
Can you come to Portugal and teach our children the history of Portugal? Because no one does it like you. ❤
I definitely want to get to Portugal one of these days and my boy will definitely learn the history of Portugal before we get there!
@@FlashPointHx I don't know if you ever been to Portugal, but if you need any tips or advice, feel free to ask and I'll gladly help ;)
@@20RODENT and towards that end history should not be whitewashed and forgotten.
