more nail care tips 💅🏻: - wear gloves every single time you’re doing dishes or cleaning, water is so so bad for your nails - don’t use your nails as tools! use a spoon to open cans, don’t rip open packages with your nails, etc etc. - try a round nail shape, square shape tends to break on corners because it’s a stress point (especially with bare nails) - put on cuticle oil + lotion at night before bed, more cuticle oil during the day if you can - you can use a nail strengthener like Nail Envy but don’t overuse it or it can make your nails so strong they snap, you want your nails to bend not break

I just heard about this halal nail polish, basically it has a formula that allows for moisture and oxygen to flow through the polish. I'd recommend checking it out to see if it's something you'd like
while in recovery from my ED (rhymes with feeding misorder), i had the hardest time growing out my nails. they would break/chip on everything and anything. many people don't know this, but your nails can become weak/brittle with a lack of nutrition as well. if your body isn't well nourished, your nails sure as hell won't be! that is why it's super important to take vitamins like biotin. i didn't know this until i had almost a whole hand of painted nails chip after maybe one day.
i thought that was common sense lol. ofc if you arent well nourished your body isnt going to maintain itself well. wishing you well onyour journey tho.

I too quit my nail biting habit only thanks to nail polish. That bitter stuff you're supposed to get helped with by putting on your nails to remind you not to wasn't as strong as my anxiety habits. Displacing the biting habit with a nail care habit plus staring at the pretty colors habit instead worked infinitely better.
In my "maniday", I soak my nails in warm-to-hot jojoba oil following religiously the priceless advices of Anna from The Salon Life. I sleep with cotton gloves and I paint them the next day🧛🏻♀️🖤

I also love to deeply hydrate my hands before I go to bed and apply a natural hand salve and slather it with pure lanolin acts an occlusive for the slave. Your hands will literally be glowing!
I met a lady with long beautiful natural nails who had been wearing nail polish for decades. she was well in her 40s when she realized she couldn't stop using it, because without it her nails had become so tender to the touch, super sensitive because they were always "protected" and the moment she removed that armor everything would hurt her and they'd break easily. Not saying it'll happen to everyone but it's something to take into consideration
this is totally normal until the tender part grows out again. people who wear acrylics/gel nails have the same issue, but it's not permanent. Polish doesn't change the way your nails grow.

You are so gentle with your nails, meanwhile there's me with long nails just because they're naturally really strong I could paint them once a week for a month and have them bare for 2 months, I use them as tools for some things, I don't wear gloves bc they make my hands sweat and I don't like it and if one nail breaks, even if it's just a small line and it might be salvageable, I'll clip them all off at the same lenght and just wait for them to grow again

Base coats are important. I never wore them before, but since I do, my nails look better.
