- Today we install our 12v 5kw Chinese Diesel Air Heater into our Van Build. We take you through the whole process including unboxing and fitting but we do not do the wiring stage yet as we will film that tomorrow with the electrics video.
These diesel heaters are very popular in the van build community now. Our diesel heater is by the brand Vevor and is sold on Amazon but all of the Amazon, Ebay & AliExpress ones are all more or less the same. They are all a copy of the ‘real’ version from brands such as Webasto & Eberspacher.
There are many variations to the install process such as bolting the heater straight to the metal floor of the van rather than on top of the finished floor. The debate about whether the fuel pump should be outside or inside the van. Using the supplied fuel tank or connecting to the vans main tank. The list goes on.
Watching this video along with some others will hopefully give you a good idea as to how you would like to install your own chinese diesel heater into your van conversion or caravan. This is not the only way to do it.
Another daily vlog about our campervan build as we try to convert this van into a tiny home on wheels in less than 30 days.

Well done to you both
Thanks very much 😄👍
Well done 🎉
Thank you 😄👍
Only part I recommend upgrading is the fuel pump to a quiet fuel pump. Now this is obviously personal preference however the ticking of the pump can be a tad annoying. However if you’re Van camping near traffic then it’s barely noticeable.
Subbed! 😎
Yeah good idea, the pump can be a little noisy but it's on the outside of the van suspended in the rubber boot and it doesn't seem to be too bad. When inside chatting or with music on we can hardly hear it at all.
Hi guys,
Just stumbled across your channel. Great work... May I ask what sealant you used on your pipes coming through the floor and if you can point me in the right direction of the exhaust pipe lagging that you may know of.
Many thanks,
Mark.

Great job! What's the 12v fridge model that you installed in the previous silent video? Thank you!
Thanks very much!! It's an 'Indel B Cruise 49 Compressor Fridge' 👍
Only 71 likes.... Here's a thousand with hugs.... Thanks guys .x
Hi has the air intake got to be outside the van? I understand the exhaust must .
@@billyd9205 Yes the air intake and exhaust must both go through the floor
When you shut your eyelids he sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Yah. 🤪🤣😂 Thanks for posting. 👍
🤔
Just for those who don’t know the pick up tube that he says you just screwed to the top of the tank that he is going to be installing that is not what that’s for that actually is specifically made so you can tap into your fuel tank of your van or bus or truck and etc.
Interesting 👍 we didn't use it in the end but that makes much more sense that it's actually a pickup tube for the main van diesel tank rather than for that little plastic tank.
just watching your video question i have are you not concermed should you go through a flood that the air intake will suck up water and destroy the heater, would it not be more sensible to fit the air supply inside the van? the unit i have is an all in one .
💥🍻
Are you concerned about he inside of your van smelling like diesel from the tank being inside? I'm super worried about that.
👍
why oh why do you people not just use a turret? you have drilled out most of your floor, and 2 big holes in the metalwork of the van, to the extent of what is left, you may as well used a turret. If using the supplied plate it means that the heater exhaust outlet is still inside the van, and should the exhaust dethatch even slightly? it could let exhaust fumes into the van. i have yet to see a heater install that is correct and safe. its just one simple step. use a turret. the rest you can do what you like with if it works for you? but in my mind a turret is the safest way to go ref exhaust fumes, not coming into the van. love how your girlfriend/wife has picked up your accent.
What I'm wondering is, why did you bother watching our video if you're such an expert on the matter already?
Looking forward to seeing your video 👍
@@lookpastlimits because i am no you tuber and was looking for a video on how to install a diesel heater correctly for someone on facebook. apart from the lack of a turret the rest of the install of where to place the wiring etc is up to you but i cant see the point of cutting such big holes when all you need to do is cut one and install a turret. none of us are experts as every van builder has there own way of building a van and installing things. even the great Greg Virgo gets it wrong on times. there is a you tuber who has a diesel heater install video and fitted them for money as part of his you tube channel and when i questioned him on the same thing as he did exactly what you have done i had no reply. while it may never ever go wrong ? there is always the possibility of the exhaust connection coming loose and venting into the van and as you have no way of checking that as you have sealed the unit to the floor and have no access to it from underneath you will never know untill you wake up dead.
@@clarkspiemuncher24 "wake up dead"?🤔😱🤨🤫
@@lookpastlimits because that's what polymath's wannabe's do. they spend their existence correcting, frowning upon , and looking down on those they deem beneath them. the fact that your "wondering" fuels their narcissism. best to ignore them and keep it moving. they eventually tire themselves out , and either fly away or die off 😉👍🤣
