  • This is loco V53 019 from the Museumspoorlijn STAR Railway museum where I volunteer. This engine was build to haul trains at the Klöckner Stahl steel plant in Bremen (Germany). It retired in the early 2000's and was purchased by Museumspoorlijn STAR in 2003.
In the period 2005-2009 it had several parts overhauled, all 8 cilinders were completely rebuild with brand new parts, that members of the Museum found at the Klöckner Stahl service depot in Bremen. All things, counting from bearings, to pistons and even the needles from the fuel-injectors were replaced. After a complete rebuild of the exterior and the electrical systems it came in active service in 2009. Unfortunately in 2012 there were some small defects found on the chassis of the locomotive, and thereby, to prevent more damage, the locomotive was put aside untill the workshop has the capacity to repair the chassis so this engine can be in active service again. Now, in 2020, the loco is still waiting to be repaired, due to shortness of volunteers at the diesel-crew of Museumspoorlijn STAR it is not sure when the repairs will start.
