    The renowned media artist Refik Anadol shares his advice to young people. Through his immense and large-scale works, Refik Anadol challenges us to contemplate the beauty that can be found in the digital age. Using data as a pigment, he is able to create visuals and artworks that is constantly changing and shapeshifting. His groundbreaking work stands at the intersection of art, science, architecture and technology, inviting the viewers to embark on a mesmerizing journey into the digital realm.

    Refik Anadol reminds us to remember those who have helped pave the way for others. Throughout his career, Anadol has been able to work in collaboration with some of his biggest inspirations and heroes in architecture and art. In 2019 he covered Frank Gehry’s iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall in stunning data-visualizations from the LA Phil digital archives. In 2022, he was able to work of Antoni Gaudi’s iconic landmark Casa Batlló in Barcelona, presenting a dynamic NFT on the building’s facade, using climate data from the city.
    “I always advice them (my students) to find those purposes and meanings in the journey and make it your own, coming from the heart.”
    Refik Anadol (b. 1985, Istanbul, Turkey) is an internationally renowned media artist, director, and pioneer in the aesthetics of maching intelligence. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where he owns and operates Refik Anadol Studio and RAS LAB, the Studio’s research practice centered around discovering and developing trailblazing approaches to data narratives. Refik Anadol’s global projects have received a number of awards and prizes including the Lorenzo il Magnifico Lifetime Achievement Award for New Media Art, Microsof Research’s Best Vision Award and UCLA Art+Architecture Moss Award.
    Refik Anaodol was interviewed at ARKEN Museum of Modern Art in May 2023 in connection to his exhibition NATURE DREAMS.

      (fra 1:23 siger han) for me art is the capacity for imagination / for mig er kunst evnen til fantasi. And it's my role to push those imaginations to the edge of my capacity / Og det er min opgave at skubbe den fantasi til grænserne for mine evner - eller - Og det er min rolle at presse den fantasi til grænsen af min kapacitet.
      Du bemærkede måske noget andet.
      Men hvad han faktisk sagde var: Kunst har en fantasi - og han kan skubbe kunst / fantasi (eller kunstnerisk fantasi) til den grænse, hvor han kan nå den (catch it).
      Og det er noget sludder. Fordi du kan bare udvide dit syn / dine evner / din spirituelle indsigt. Men du kan ikke kontrollere Helligånden, der manifesterer sig i kunsten. Det vil nemlig tyde på, at du også bestemmer seerens mening. Det ønsker en kunstner ikke, hvis han ser kunstens frihed som elementær.
