So Vlad the impaler did have an actual surname besides Dracul. His name was Vlad Tepes (pronounced Vlad Tep-ish). Just a little interesting fact someone might be interested in! 😊
Dracul was his father (Vlad Dracul). Vlad Tepes (Țepeş = țeapă - impaling tool) was the son of Vlad Dracul (drac = demon). And therefore his nickname became Vlad Tepes (the impaler) or DRACUL(a).
I have Sephardic jew ancestry from the ones who stayed in Spain. So the first story was one I'm very familiar with. I like the history stuff. I'm so suprised! I thought I'd be listening to creepypasta type stories but you started with a historically factual story about the Moors that invaded Spain; I've long heard of their sophisticated civilization but never done any research on it myself. It's amazing how the cleaned up the streets, brought education to both men and women, along with prosperity and equality! My Mum was the one who told me about them. Thank you! 💜
Love these stories, history's psychopaths! The quality of your readings shows in correctly pronouncing words from other cultures!

Forget being extra: If you think someone’s living in your attic, either get someone to bust it open and go in or use a power tool to put screws in the door when you think they’re in there and starve them to death.
I loved the viking story!
I used to be an adventurer...then I took an arrow to the knee 🤣 Seriously though, thanks for the historical stories. You did such a good job painting the picture, I feel like I actually learned something about History! Maybe my old history teachers should have taken a class from you 🙃
Torquemada: do not employ him for compassion. Torquemada: do not ask him for forgiveness. Torquemada: do not beg him for mercy. Let’s face it: you can’t Torquemada anything!
“HEY Torquemada, what do you say?” “I just got back from the auto-da-fé!” “Auto-da-fé? What’s the auto-da-fé?” “It’s what you oughtn’t to do- but you do anyway!”
So glad I wasn’t the only one thinking about this during that story. Really helped me deal w the descriptions of torture 🤢
History provides. *always* provides.
