Save the date and witness the graceful presentation of Lanao del Norte's rich culture through the Sagayan Festival this coming July 2, 2023, at the Mindanao Civic Center Stadium, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
The Sagayan is a war dance depicting the adventures of the Darangen hero, Datu Bantugan of the kingdom of Bumbaran, as he rescues his sister Arcata Lawanen from the hands of Ayonan Dimasangkay of the kingdom of Sagorongan-a-Ragat. Despite the clash, the rift ultimately ends in the pacification and peace between the two kingdoms.
The Sagayan Festival symbolizes peace and unity among the people of Lanao del Norte. Beyond being just a war dance, it signifies reconciliation and protection of communities that The Land of Beauty and Bounty embodies.
