how was that not a sweet for Margot when she went from knees to guard to on top at like the 5 minute mark? its not a sweep even after going from guard to top? Anna sat down to the guard position played 50/50 after and sat up and got another 2? that's ridiculous someone please explain.
I'm not 100% but I think they considered it neutral since she stayed in turtle for longer than 3 seconds... I would agree though it looked like she deserved 2.
I've been in that same scenario countless times in IBJJF competitions and never got the points. Most recent last weekend, it happened again. I got the chance to ask the ref why and he explained that I wasn't awarded points bc I didn't initiate the sweep from a guard position rather I was defending a sweep or a pass attempt so it's actually a reversal and not a sweep. Same thing applies in this scenario, Ana was initially on top and she initiated the pass attempt and nearly passed but Margot managed to get to her knees and then eventually sat up. So that counts as a reversal and not a sweep :( Harsh I know but it kinda makes sense when you understand the rules. I have a love/hate relationship with such IBJJF rules....
@@AbdullahMikalRodriguez it doesn't matter how long you were in the turtle for. she regained to the guard position which doesn't have a time limit to retain guard for before you can score 2 for the sweep or gaining top position.
@@cheesy2970 It doesn't make sense because she got the advantage for trying to pass when she turtled up. she then flipped back to the guard which Anna decided to sit back and play the leg entaglement with Margot. Margot sits up from the guard. that's almost like saying she shouldn't of lost points then for going for the berimbolo attempt because she tried to take the back and Anna ended up on top. Anna didn't sweep Margot she attempted a berimbolo back take and ended up on bottom so is it a sweep or a reverse?
@MadEats I don't really understand your comment. Ana got the advantage because she legitimately almost passed forcing Margot to turtle. Margots attempt to take the back with berimbolo was not threatening enough as Ana did not have to defend it much. Margot wasn't even close to getting one hook in so she couldn't really be awarded an advantage for that. Margot was not awarded the initial sweep you questioned at 5 minutes because it counts as a reversal according to IBJJF rules. You can look them yourself if you'd like to understand better.
