Very well explained. I will try to follow you. I am 79 years old and I depend more on my Services rather than playing as my reflux has completely slowed down. I am an intermediate player living in Canada.
Great content ! Thanks! Can you make video, how to continue after specific serve, especially when we use 2 main sidespins, pendulum and reverse. More about tactics. What serve we prioritize if we are forhand or backhand dominant players.Thank you Mr Bryant 😊
Excellent channel! This is what I was waiting for! Serves is my Achilles ankle, these tips will help me to improve and master serve techniques, especially pendulum and reverse one as those two I’m struggling with now…😢
Thanks for posting this. Great video. I use forehand with backspin or topspin with last second changes being possible. I also like backspin and side-backspin. I use pendulum serve sometimes (I need to keep working on it so I am more comfortable with it).
Thanks for this video , the grip is really important and fondamental and the position of finger changed the quality of the service! 👍🏻 I use backhand and pendulum service aleays!
Thank you Craig. This has been super useful. I always wondered how to do the different kinds of serves. This video clearly explains the importance of the grip 👍
I'm watching a lot of tutorial and you're explanation about serves helped me the most, so thank you. As a next videe I would like to see some good practice exercices
Great video, thanks Chris 🎉would be interested to see a) how you transfer your body weight during serving and b) the high toss serve. The latter can be intimidating to receive, but I don’t see many tips on how to do it.
Hey, I’m sure Chris is a lovely bloke but I am Craig 🙂 I actually don’t focus on rotating when serving, I try to focus on using my wrist and forearm. The twist is normally there to aid my recovery. This is not the same for everyone but this is how I do it 👍
Thanks fof sharing that useful video. With respect to backhand serve: I have never seen someone hokding the racket only with two fingers. But I have recently found out that I can create much more spin for short as well as long serve when pinching the racket between thumb and index finger. As a Pro, have you ever come across someone doing such kind of backhand serve?
Iam very pleased with your advices iam playing in two leagues in London and i use all four kinds of services in matches with different spines and combined spines so it makes lots of troubles for my opponents that’s why by having good service you are approaching to victory
Well done Craig, appreciate for your efforts on this new channel! I really enjoy your serve and your videos in the past helped me to improve my serving game. I'm mainly working with the pendulum and backhand serve, also working on my hook serve, but I'm looking for opportunities to include more top spin variations in my serves. Maybe you can pick up this topic in a video, expecialliy how to create top spin serves without showing this to early to your opponent? Thank you in advance!
Thanks so much for producing this Great content for us. This will help me a lot and am gonna integrate these service to my training session as instructed one after the other. Thank you very much, nonetheless i have a request; The moment i serve and my opponent returns my service, i am always stuck at indecision because i can't identify the spin that is being returned.
Craig sir,if possible make individual videos for beginners like, how to hold bat, Stance while playing, forehand drive, forehand topspin, backhand so that beginners will know basics perfectly. It's a request from my side.
Hi Craig! I’m new to your channel.. i must commented that the way you explain the grips and the execution of the serves are excellent!! I’m more of a penholder and I find it pretty difficult to execute the throw of a ball in front of the arm pit and execute a reverse pendulum consistently. But I will not give up! Any tips to make it easier? I even ding my blade to the table’s corner 😅 😂.. I guess that the learning cost 😊
It’s only the action that needs to go under your arm. You can keep the ball toss in front of your body, then your bat moves forward to come and meet the ball 👍
as of today, i just got the idea on how to serve the deceptive hook serve + backspin + side, thanks always sir. and i call it deceptive because its was just due contact point. minute changes it will become a hook serve topspin and can be varies with sides. Im still in the beginner phase.
Just got back from a session. The Anti-Clockwise pendulum went well, however the clockwise one needs more practice. Expectations is not like reality coach. PS: Volleyball coach here, started enjoying table tennis a lot these days.
Yes, good point. Important to find a grip that allows you to return to your playing grip. With the grip I demonstrated, I can. You might have to play around with slight variations to allow to do this.
@@TheTableTennisServiceGuy I’m sure you still have enough steam for one more season, just one more. You’d go first round draft next year, travel and board paid. Your last hurrah ! Plus you get to give lessons while your here, it’s a win win. I’m taking lessons from Enzo Angles. Think about it!
I’d consider it for sure. I’d also be interested in coaching a team too but I have to be asked, I can’t just invite myself over 😞 (I have enquired about coaching in the league though) 😊
Im loving my TT been playing for probably 6 months but my serve is still garbage, im trying to play forehand back spin, but I just cant get enough spin on it, if it gets over the net it just sort of fades, and its to easy for the opponent to just tap over...back hand I really cant get used to it...sort frustrating.
I had the same issue. I pretty much gave up on it and worked on backhand service which is more natural for me. That was about a year ago. More recently I’ve returned to practicing forehand service and it’s going much better now.
Great video and definitely given me something to work on! Was just curious what blade and rubbers you were using? As I can tell you get a lot of purchase on them! Keep up the great work 💯🏓
@@TheTableTennisServiceGuy I've got a Joola Rossi Emotion blade aswell and had Joola Rhythm on both sides; however, they've stopped making it now! 😔 I got MXP as a replacement but I'm not 100% convinced, so I may try the Joola Dynaryx AGR when I get new rubbers if it's more similar to the spinny Rhythm? 🤔
Hi Craig and thank you so much for the video tutorial! I have one specific question about the grip after the serve has been made. I have difficulties when I need to change the grip back go neutral position in a fast motion because usually if the serve is fast and long you need to be very quick as the ball returns back. How do you deal with this and have you ever experienced this before when you started out playing table tennis?
Yes, sometimes a grip can be too extreme and then you’re having to make a big change (or even use your other hand to help, which you don’t want). So, try to find a service grip that allows you to revert to your playing grip BUT you can also practice this transition when you’re just walking around the house, for example. So, find something easier AND practice it too 👍
Thank you Craig. This time the microphone was working flawlessly and the tips are great!
Phew 😮💨 👍

Great content, thanks! Anything that helps me to better recognize and return those darned serves is also much appreciated!
Bravo!!! Mic works pretty well with Subtitle/Caption! Thanks for sharing it. Thorough explanation. 5/5 stars!
5/5, I’ll take that 👌

Thanks for commenting. Perhaps a misunderstanding, the backhand serve is pretty much like the playing grip, not only 2 fingers.
I like your Teaching Techniques. I will follow your Service techniques. Thankyou

Hi Craig. I personally find a bit difficult to quickly get back to a normal play grip after such a grip that you demonstrated for a revers pendulum..
Yes, good point. Important to find a grip that allows you to return to your playing grip. With the grip I demonstrated, I can. You might have to play around with slight variations to allow to do this.
Hi. How do you change your grip after you serve please.
There’s no particular technique to it. It’s just a case of finding a service grip that allows you to change back
Great sounding video! Why aren’t you playing in the USA! THE MLTT is waiting

Thank you dear Craig, do you hold training sessions?
Yes, one to ones in the South West of England and we tour our training camp around the UK too. Where are you located?
@TheTableTennisServiceGuy Thank you for your kind response dear Craig , i live in Thessaloniki, Greece. Where do you live and hold the sessions?
I based in the South West of the UK and deliver most of my work here. However, clubs overseas do hire me as well.

What about pen-hold grip? Really enjoyed the video, great info and well explained.
I’ll try and do a penhold video soon 👍
we will attempt to give it a bloody good try creating content that will assist those in pain [handling your serves], which we LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
