Can't believe you survived that one. Diving through the mountains...flying BELOW treetop level and you still popped out of there, and won the fight. Awesome.
That was one of the most intense engagements I have seen on this or any other channel! I was seriously moving my phone around during the merge to try to get a better angle on the flanker. Great fight!
These more natural dogfights are so much more interesting than the preplanned ones where it just starts off with a head-on merge with no BVR component to the fight. This is fantastic content!
Recently found your channel after getting a bit burned out on GS content, and I absolutely love your commentary and explanations on how you fight a BVR missile. An entertaining DCS content creator teaches as much as they entertain, and I learned more about BVR combat from this one video than anything else. Edit: I like this style of combat btw, feels very loose and unpredictable

Once the fight got into guns range I was so, umm..., "verbally animated" my wife thought I was watching a football game. I told her what's up and she just said "I don't understand you". I think that little bit of mystery helps a marriage. Thanks Longshot for helping me keep my marriage interesting. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

From supersonic launches to nearly plowing the mountainside twice, this fight has everything i needed: Tension, Intensity, and some really nice Howling from the Super Hornet.. I loooove me some mountainfights! 🤜🤛
Longshot you just amazing, what I say even that you do with the growing sidewinder, which is brilliant as well as top notch. And by the way, I didn't see you on the SU57 cockpit, and yes I saw on growing sidewinder used on it, but I wanted to see on the SU57 how it can challenge the group of 4 gen aircraft on the BVR match.
I remember when the first Super Hornet showed up at VX23 (E-1) within 5 months E2-F2 showed up and we worked our butts off getting thru EMD testing. total of 7 planes were purpose built for varoius task
Best fight I've seen in a while...all of them are fantastic but this one was especially dramatic. From BVR to guns... doesn't happen often. I'm curious, did Spinx lose site of you during your landscaping fly-by? Or figure you were a manuver kill and lightened up? Either way, you lived to fight another day. Great flying, dude !
A fantastic win for the Super Hornet. Even though you were close, you could've spammed him with your remaining AMRAAMs. You also could've put two more AMRAAMs on your cheek stations. The Super Hornet should be the standard Hornet for future videos. Choosing between the regular Hornet and the Super Hornet is like trying to choose between a BMW and a Ferrari.
This was awesome, in the beggining it was a BVR fight, but it was coming clsoer and closer, you almost crashed against a mountain and finally took that Flanker down:D

Not joking Longshot - this must be the best DCS video I ever saw - started at long range - then got closer and closer, ended up as a knife fight in a phone booth - then when you almost flew into the mountain I was thinking "Shit Longshot just killed himselfe....", but yeah, like I said this is the most fun DCS video I ever saw! Sphinx seems like a really good Flanker pilot and I am sure he felt pretty confident as you guys merged - but like we all know, do not write off Longshot unless his airplane is a ball of fire - Longshot is always dangerous! @LongShot how you have the new cockpit? Yours is with touchscreen, mine is the old one with buttons. I searched it in the modules area, but nothing there.
Wow the mechanic guys are gonna need to replace the seat cushion onnthat f-18. Pretty sure that one just got permanently clinched up the pilots butt after those near misses. Can't believe you didn't hit those trees!
Good job, good skills, as soon as you merged with a Flanker I thought it was game over... Maybe the tree branches stuck on your wings camouflaged you....
Bit of a nerdy question, but isn't it inaccurate for the Super Hornet to still have the "blue note" sound since it lacks the legacy Hornet intakes which produce it at certain speeds?

since both the Hornet and Su-33 are primarily naval aircraft, wouldn’t it be more accurate to have them fight over water. No mountains to hide behind

If a Flanker turns on EO can an AWACS still vector you on to their general location or does the AWACS also lose the Flanker's radar contact as well?
yes the AWACS will still see you when your radar is off
