    I have a huge sand area where an above ground pool used to be. The chickens don't use it. They prefer the actual dirt for some reason.

    Great info as always guys. I have plenty of dust bathing ‘craters’ in my run. I don’t mess with it and just them do what they do. I do spread some DE in their coop. Thanks!

      I don't have a defined area either, just a place they have chosen where I occasionally add ash and herbs.

    I use a rubber feed tub filled with sand, and diatomaceous earth . Works great from what I have seen.
