Took me a few tries, but this strategy works. For some reason the spiky ball doesn't always hit the inferno towers so I had to reset a bunch.
Yes I found it was a bit random depending on exactly where you stand

But to make it level 27 430 Starry ores are needed. It will take at least 6 months.
I have hogs and haste as champions equipment, which would be better to replace for rocket spears?
Haste spell. I didn't even bother upgrading mine cos I knew this was coming
