Good morning AV enthusiast!! You have very nice collection of healthy plants! I used to buy plants from the same source ( from Etsy), but mine plants don’t survive! Some of them were too small and didn’t grow enough root system, others had trips and didn’t make it! I have a question: do you do incoming prophylaxis for your plants? Spraying with insecticide or other sprays, and quarantine?? For your knowledge, there is some online stores where you might buy the same varieties cheaper: Linda Secret Garden and Heavenly Creation Nursery! Good luck!!

      Good morning to you too.
I quarantine all plants for approximately 6 weeks in separate back room. I repot all plants appon arrival. I treat with systemic Bonide with all plants, every 8 weeks, on surface of soil if not repotting. I keep a written schedule. If a plant struggles I will bag it. If it still struggles I may decapitate and strip the leaves leaving at least 3 leaves on the crown, repot and bag it for two weeks. Bad roots are far more deadly than no roots. Any new arrivals that look suspicious are (INSV) tested. I keep tests in fridge at all times. I only test plants that are not thriving or look suspicious. I did get one positive out of 80 new starters. SCARY!!! The tests are expensive. I get the tests from "AGDIA" I buy the 25 pack. I have ordered plant starters, from over ten different vendors. I buy from whom ever has the plant I am searching for at a reasonable price. My healthiest plants have been from Lyndon Lyon. My healthiest hybrids are LLG hybrids regardless of whom I go thru. Starters are very fragile. My quarantine room is highly temperature controlled with a ceiling fan on low at all times.
I live at 500 feet elevation near Mount Rainier. Thrips are not a problem here but powdery mildew is. Good air flow is vital with a stable temp of 78 for the babies. 75 for established plants. This has worked for me. If a plants still wont thrive I will toss it. Only one has been tossed out of 80 Plants.
The only spraying I do is for powdery mildew.
Hope this all this was not too much of an earful.
Again I want to thank you for taking the time to watch my video.
      Sincerely, Leaners

Thanks for responding so fast!! I use the same Bonide granules, and repotting upon receiving the plants! Quarantine for 6-8 weeks, and still they are dying!! What watering system do you use? From the top, bottom or wick? Appreciate all info that I can get!! Thanks again!! Best luck

I water the babies from the top with a Walmart ,BBQ sauce bottle I never soak the babies cause the have very limited root structure. I will only water on one side of the pot so the babies can breath better. I place a chair under every pot so they never sit in water. I use old Bottle caps as a chair for the babies. Stay very light on the fertilizer and do not feed for the first week.
I buck the system on the adults. I guess I'm a bit of a Maverick! LOL. I do not wick water. I hate that slimy string dangling there when handling the plants. Instead I use a two pot system. I have the pot the plant is potted in and a second pot with no holes and a chair to sit on. For adults only, I fill the outer vessel with luke warm water and set the plant in it for 5 minutes to soak it up from the bottom. after 5 minutes I dump all the water and put the pot back in the outer vessel on the chair. I wait another 15 minutes then dump any remaining water. I have the plants on the counter under low light the entire time. Then I put them back on the grow shelf with the lights off for two hours. I turn off the lights because even the slightest drop of water on a leaf will cause a brown spot if the lights are on. I do this about once a week but this may vary in every house. Basically I wait till they are bone dry before watering.
I also wait a few days before treating the babies with Bonide, and use only a sixteenth of a teaspoon on top of soil. Once they are established I up that to 1/8th teaspoon of Bonide.
