if the story really was “we heard a leaked version of a song we were working on 10 minutes ago on the radio” the first question should’ve been “who on our payroll exported the song we’ve been working on and posted it?” 😂
I'm sure they did, but that wasn't the point - the point was there was now an internet service that was not only taking money away from them, but all music artists, and had the potential to take out the record business as a whole. Many artists joined the fight with Lars, and in the end many agree now, Lars was right. Rock is dead because the record giants are gone, and nobody can make money off streaming, so nobody has incentive to fund young artists and get them into the limelight.
So weird that this was the working version until it leaked. I wonder if they changed it on purpose just because of the leak itself. Love the quiet bit at the end rather than throughout the song
3:07 idk why i like james vocals here, probably cause i havent heard that in any other song before but its also hard to explain it, its just interesting thats why i like it. probably cause its raw
@@metinc.4733 I like it. How did it become available for Napster to leak before the studio version came out? Now I see why Napster got sued back then lol.
@@pachecodosunosiete that makes the best sense. I was all for file sharing for the majority of my life and I’m still keen on many things within it, but something like that truly subjects Napster to being sued back then. I didn’t realize things went beyond ripping already released content to your computer and uploading for other people.
@@IAmToDd6691 Yeah, that was the main thing for Metallica suing Napster. That they lost their creative control through the leak of a song that according to the creators wasn't finished. I can totally respect that.
Notice how Lars has the St. Anger drum sound for this song
but not as terrible if they used this one st anger would be even better
@@derekgagnon1250its the same snare just mixed properly
I like the sound of the snare in that DVD that was released with St. Anger album.

it’s thousand times better than the final version.. especially that last chorus thing.. james’ vocals were so magical
You synced it up perfectly with the video nice!
Oh no Metallica is at my house for listening to this version.

One of my favourite songs in fact. Thanks!
Such a great video!! Excellent performance! Well done!! Thanks for sharing 🤘🎸❤️😎💯
Definitely hear the differences. So would this technically be like a “rough cut” of the track?
Yes, indeed, this is a preliminary cut filtered by Napster and it is the one that was heard on various radio stations in the United States.

@@IAmToDd6691 probably there was a mole inside the production team that spread it out around

I actually prefer this to the final single version!
This is the only version I know. I think I saw it at a test screening of MI:2 in 2000.
Was the version you saw different from the theatrical cut of the film?
Piece Of Gold!! Thanks for Uploading!!!
Hmm, very interesting
Interesante. Gracias por el upload.
Cuando necesites algo en el departamento gráfico me escribes al mail, estoy a la orden.
Very Good Excelent Job.
Woow One Version Interesanting.
I have been looking to purchase this version on a digital format, but I haven't been lucky so far
Yeah yeah!
I listened to this song in 2001
Ok. Little diferent
That vinyl have a live version , where is it ;((((
Sweet, prefer this version.
Crikey I like the strobe at the end
This is version is better 🤷🏻♂️
Rock n roll🤘
🎧 Napster 4ever!
Metallicaaaaaaaaaaaaa
They both sound the same to me.
4min onwards quite different
the chorus is completely different musically - where as it keeps the distorted vibe throughout until the end of the song.
This was Jason’s finial studio song he soon left after this
just as soon as he belongs then it's time he disappears
Napster of Puppets
Midway at the bridge, slippy wah.
Pre chorus mybad
Prefer the original one
I remember that there where rumors floating around that the title would be Dead Days.
