    The Bills needed to reload/retool. They cut or traded older guys (Diggs, Poyer, Morse) and cut guys who were always hurt/getting older (Tre White) and let other guys they didnt want to pay walk (Gabe Davis, Leonard Floyd, Tyrel Dodson). Are they better letting all of those guys go THIS upcoming season? Probably not. But they needed to get younger and they will by nature of the 10 picks they have in this draft. The new core (Allen, Kincaid, Cook, Taron Jonshon, Milano, Bernard, Oliver) are entering their prime or young and showing promise. I think they will be ok. They need to hit on a few players in this draft for sure.

    • @jdeljones
      @jdeljones 2 месяца назад

      I think they'll be more than ok. Even with an off year, they won the division. Miami looked great for 80% of the season and got beaten handily by the Bills. The media can hype up the Jets all they want to (and as a 30-something I'm kind of pulling for old man Rodgers just for my psyche) but I don't see the Jets being competitive. It was more than just poor QB play. It was a poor O-line. Poor coaching. Poor culture. Poor running game. I don't think Buffalo fears not making the postseason (at least for this upcoming season) so they can figure out how they want to look for their assumed deep postseason run. Which is a step or two ahead of most teams that are just trying to solidify their team to be a perennial postseason contender. Buffalo has already done that. 4 years running the only other team to win their division each year is KC.

      @@jdeljones Great take. Im a huge Bills fan losing that core hurt. But their ceiling was one AFC Champ game. They need to get younger and "retool". I trust Beane, but this draft is huge. He needs to add one more weapon for Allen who can be a true "1" and help the defense get younger.

      Diggs is on a one year deal, so if he wants to walk next year he can, if not he needs to buy into DeMeco's mentality and team chemistry. They owe him nothing now, it's all on him now, they basically took away his ability to be a diva with safety net, he has no safety net.

    • @stevewest6133
      @stevewest6133 2 месяца назад

      Respectfully, I think that take is exaggerated. He's a 30+ year old WR on a big contract, declining fast-but-still good enough to bring in a 2nd round pick. The trade is just following the NFL's trend of plugging in rookie WR's with elite QBs.

    • @H-Town_83

    The media outside of Buffalo doesn't realize just how long the aging, injuries, rehabs, and declining play have been hurting the Bills. All of these recent Bills' player cuts have either sat out injured or played poorly in some of the Bills' biggest games, going back to the 13 Second Bowl. And the 2023 Bills' division win and playoff run was led by different core of players. The "rebuilding" in Buffalo already happened in mid 2023.
    ( I still think the Diggs' drama is exaggerated. He was traded because he's declining -but- still good enough to trade for a 2nd round pick)

    you dont eat 30 million in dead cap if you didnt want him out of the building. especially considering after this coming season his contract opens up and he could be cut without any problems. im sure the front office would rather have had him stick around so they didnt have to take that gigantic dead cap hit, but things happen you cant control. it takes two to make a relationship work. clearly both parties here werent on the same page.
    it most likely went like this. the Bills learned they could win running the ball and barely using Stef. it cut down on JA17s turnovers, it gave McD what hes always wanted, a running game to protect his QB and his defense. so i imagine Stef had issues with this, and they just couldnt get around them. add in Stef has always wanted to play with his brother, gets him closer to him at the very least.
    now, another season of not using Stef the way he wants to be used, a downgrade in stats, nobody is giving anything for Stef in a trade. Bills got a 2nd, for a 30 year old receiver. thats a good return imo. looks like the Texans fleeced the Bills right? got rid of a guy who didnt want to be there anymore, got some compensation. its addition by subtraction imo.
    yes im a Bills fan, yes we didnt really want Diggs to leave, but, id be a bit worried as a Texans fan about this. you guys were doing fine, seemingly have a tight locker room, led by young guys, now you have a guy who expects certain things or he becomes, cryptic. i loved Diggs, he was a baller on the field, zero issues with him there, but, he dropped off a cliff the last half of this past season, all the while having the most targets in the league. he gave us 4 amazing years, but something just wasnt right. gl Texans.

      @@canislupus5 Thats exactly what im seeing. No one is saying it. They're just devaluing the position. Saying even if it isint the same production if we get 70% of it paying them cheaper go that way

    • @canislupus5
      @canislupus5 2 месяца назад

      @@jy88- Actually, the WR position is currently vastly *overvalued* and that's a function of the pass-happy league rules. Guys who touch the ball 5-10 times a game are getting 30M+? I mean, at least the highly paid positions like DE have an impact one way or another on most defensive downs. It's all supply and demand, though, and I believe there will be a market correction for WRs, where WRs on rookie contracts will be highly valued, then many will be traded as they near the end of their rookie contracts, and probably traded to teams who are "one WR away" or want a one-year rental. The devaluing of the RB position is causing lots of the best college athletes just pivot to becoming WRs because of where the money is in the NFL. We might see a whole new breed of these strong/thick WRs who are like Deebo Samuel and can run/break tackles like a RB. Eventually, the salaries for top WRs will come down, not go up, because there will be a good supply each year. If teams like the Vikings break the bank for Justin Jefferson or the Bengals for J'Marr Chase, they'll probably regret it within a few years. A smart GM these days will try to stack draft extremely well in these positions: QB, WR, T, DE then shop for the best free agents in other positions (with smaller salary levels) such as S, DT, LB, and IOL. Tweeners would be TE and CB, where you can make either the draft or free agency work for you, if you select your players well.

      Texans will be more than adequate this year with the addition of Diggs. We'll see if he's ok with gettin way less targets. Stefon Diggs is highly overrated. He didn't have any plays in Buffalo that people will remember for a generation, he had one for the Vikings. He's a good not great WR, he doesn't make them the team to beat

    Beane-brain continues to do his best to squander Josh Allen's prime. It's criminal, the mismanagement of this team.

      You must've skipped that chapter. Here's the cliffs notes...
      "Stroud becomes youngest QB to win a playoff game as Texans rout Browns 45-14 - As the games get bigger, C.J. Stroud just keeps getting better."

      @@Mr.DerekReese That guys just a hater. Probly a sad Titans fan who has nothing else but to root against his rivals to lose. As a lifelong Packer fan, it reminds me of the nonsense Ive heard from Bears/Vikings/Lions fans for 37 years.

      Texans are in a position again to be the better team in Texas than the Dallas Cowboys.
