Little is still happening, but anyway, this is the first attempt to invade Ukraine from Russian territory in 2 years. For the last 2 years, it has actually been an extension of the old war in Donbas, only larger in terms of area and scale, and now it is another second invasion attempt on a much smaller scale, but still. This is another significant escalation and the first in several years. This is the first attempt to expand the conflict in a long time.

So I am confused. Kharkiv and the surrounded area was once a deadly battle zone, after Russian retreated April 2022, these areas has become heavily defended and well-planned defensive tactics by the Ukranian to prepare for the case of Russian coming back again. So now why the Russian is doing the same thing as before knowing the Ukrainian force in these areas are well prepared than they did in the past ?
I personally believe they are trying to force Ukraine to send reinforcements there to continue pushing in the east
The russian high command knows abbout the heavy defences,but they don't care abbout the losses as they can mobilize more men
It looks like Russians think that ukrainian army located in Kharkov Region is not well equipped and trained so they could use the advantage of it and make some advances in that area as more trained and equipped ukrainian soldiers are still located near Chasov Yar and won’t get there quick. What is more import protecting Kharkov with more trained soldiers will require their dislocation to Kharkov Region that would also make Chasov Yar less protected and will give advantage for army of the Russian Federation. I don’t know if it was a work of Russian intelligence agency but ukrainians believed that Putin wanted to capture Chasov Yar by 9th of May and as result they concentrated most of their elite troops in Chasov Yar area giving opportunity for Russians to attack in unexpected directions.
There is this channel called Weeb Union (yes... really) that I think explained quite well about the reasons. The russians were planning a offensive a long time ago, they massed troops for the past 6 months for this. They are now exploiting the window that Ukraine have not build and maintained fortifications in the Kharkiv area. He theorized that the Russians will just stay close to the border, as to avoid urban warfare, and make another attack somewhere else, so they really did this attack thinking in the long term, which is a breakthrough somewhere in all of those fronts (allegedly).
Ukraine is basically being overwhelmed by numbers and fronts it has to defend.
Ukraine shells Belgorod. A child recently died. All this creates political pressure on the authorities to take action against the Vampires’ attacks on the city.

@@jehandesains8674 so to sum it all up on your face, the real calculated Advances made by Ukraine in 2023 is 336 km² compared to Russian 502 km². In 2024 (not counting may since that's pretty obvious that it's fake from what I've read) Ukrainian advance were 242 km² compared to Russians 295 km².

If the color is red, that means that they didn't manage to destroy/kill as many as the other side. So since Russia claims to have destroyed 46 drones which is 4 more compared to what Ukraine claims to have destroyed, it will be green. Though I would never really trust neither side's statistics.

Наступление РФ на Харьков мне напоминает контрнаступ Украины на Запорожье. В обеих случаях СМИ сообщают, что это неудачное направление, но атакующие силы делают по своему. Мне кажется, успех РФ в Харькове будет на порядок меньше чем в Донецке, и принесёт больше проблем РФ чем Украине.

РФ скорее всего и не хотят добиться чего-то масштабного под Харьковым. Просто оттесняют ВСУ от границы и отвлекают силы с других направлений. Но неясно, стоит ли этим заниматься, тратя силы и время
Да тут все просто, Россия и не собиралась брать Харьков силой, это сложно. Тогда зачем они пошли? А это растягивание сил ВСУ, чтобы еще сильнее истощить их. Что в итоге где-то придется сдавать, потому что они не смогут на всех фронта защищать. Плюс, Россия нигде прямо не говорит планы, это больше Украина и дальше СМИ.

@@frahtauenta поэтому и переговоров не будет, Россия и не торопится, они делают все чтобы Украина разрушила внутри, а она идет, просто опять - время. Дальше уже влияние будет, договоры, переговоры и тд, так что Одесса, Николаев, Днепр и Харьков в любом случае уйдут по условии России. Запорожье, Херсон уже стали частью России, как Крым, что в переговорах не будет обсуждать. В любом случае шанс был в марте 2022 года, но Украина отказали по указе Запада. Теперь все, 4 региона уже полностью часть России и не обсуждается, как Крым. Теперь 4 региона будет темой, и как там говорят - нравится или нет, а придется.
В любом случае Украина уже обречена на уничтожение, тк долги громадные, экономика полностью задержится на Западе, а Запад вечно кормить не будет, люди уезжают, никто не будет жить в мертвой стране, коррупция и произвол. Это уже и так приговор.

The increase in tank supply is from a new source, both Statista & Global Firepower. I've added 700 tanks as 10% of total destroyed / damaged / repairable from the 7,000 claim from the Ukrainian MoD. If you don't like any of it, scroll on past cuz I really dont care, I'm going to continue to post my findings, & Russia will continue onward.
