The Casket Buying Process

  • Buying a casket is often the most stressful - and most expensive - part of a traditional funeral. Caskets vary widely in style, material, design, and price and can cost between $2,000-$5,000. They're typically either metal or a cheaper wood, but some can sell for as much as $10,000 or more.
More and more, people are buying caskets from third-party retailers like Amazon and Walmart and having them shipped directly to the funeral home. By law, funeral homes are required to use what you provide and can’t charge any additional fees to handle third-party caskets.
