@@AlphaSquadZero exactly my point, but i guess if you were playing some sort of control deck where you can plus hard but only during the end phase then you might want unlimited normal summons on follow up turns if so i guess it might be good option.
The level 10 Lord of Heavenly Prison can search it, but it can search something far better. Best case scenario people use something without a HOPT like Gadgets. What kinda unbreakable board can you really even make with Ultimate Offering? Gear Giant X x3? More likely there is a FTK with Toon Cannon Soldier, but it doesn't seem feasible or fun. The extra summon is a nice game mechanic, and why so many field spells or extenders add that, but an inconsistent, nearly infinite summons card is nothing we are missing and should probably stay banned.

Completely disagree with Duo over Confi. In current meta, getting to choose the discard + hand knowledge is infinitely more valuable than a random disc and another that may actively benefit your opponent
Both Confiscation and The Forceful Sentry should be higher as well. That hand knowledge and being able to nail a potentially crippling hand-trap is just broken.
It very much depends tho. Duo going first may be worse in some instances sure, but getting duo late in the game is so good because they might have 2 and go to 0 vs only going to 1, and even if grave effects are good they still can’t do much without a hand
@@jxgalaxy3810 Duo can come back. In those rare cases when they only have 2 (or maybe when card advantage meant everything in Goat Format, etc because all cards were situationally balanced), Duo is arguably better than sniping their hand with Forceful Sentry, etc, but...
The times when they would have exactly 2 cards is like 2% compared to the 50% of going first, and the Duo could be negated or all of their relevant cards could be used. Most decks have bricks that just remain in hand because you have to run them to increase the consistency of the main engine, but once you already achieve this, they become irrelevant. Best case scenario, you hit hand traps, but you still have their board to break.
Duo could probably come off of the list, it's actually considerably worse than Moulinglacia being a nearly unsearchable Spell, and also you choose both random cards with Moulinglacia...if anything, combining the 2 could be considered problematic, but that can be fixed by banning the consistent, better card, and then possibly even unlimiting the inconsistent card. I highly doubt people would run triple Duo, as it is a going 1st card but doesn't really do enough unless you draw 2 or have a hand loop strategy, many of which already clear the whole hand, like Durandal or Trickster Reincarnation with Droll and Lock Bird. Clearing the hand after turn 1 is not all that useful, otherwise cards like Norleras and CED strategies could be useful. There are cards like Duo that aren't all that useful, like Mazera DeVille, or Giski Gustraken, after all, the GY is like a second hand in various instances.

Also what I was referring to was in the grind game in which there won’t be many negates, and on top of this it is so broken going first, getting rid of two cards has a very realistic chance to ruin the whole hand, and also the fact that it comes at virtually no cost to you. Also the GY effects aren’t that significant as most GY effects are only good because of the combo that can take advantage of it. Duo is one of the best spell cards ever printed

@@Greg501- even if they scoop you still win, so victory dragon holds true to it's name, it will give you a victory either way.
They would just scoop while it's being summoned or when you get the tributes and they are open for direct attack and under the LP theresold.
Just pick the OCG rule that your opponent must accept the surrender, and if they don't and you want to end early, you must forfeit the Match.

Is surrendering considered a quick action? Maybe you can chain your surrender to the summon
5 years from now, Snake Rain will be talked about in these types of videos being one of the most busted cards ever.
I mean even now we talk about it as one of the strongest cards that nothing can use.
The card is amazing but reptiles are one of the most chronically underserved types in yugioh.

Max is actually the best way to make the match equal especially for the recent formats..
OCG has a reason to keep this card unlimited.. and it doesn't mean you can't stop it every deck runs ash (sometimes gama🤣) also you may draw maxx yourself its 3..
Even your opponent may be in disadvantage if you play traps or like dogmatica or eldlitch..its almost like he delayed his draw or lost one card ...
Its Better than dragon link or any deck that generate 4 negation monsters from the start ..right
Forceful sentry B tier might just be the dumbest take of 2021
Forceful is an easy A tier, being able to rip cards without any GY shenanigans + hand knowledge makes Forceful quite a bit better than Confiscation.
@@Weareonenation303 it is only a bit better than confiscation, not much. You will most likely get rid of a handtrap, going second card or starter, where the gy barely matters
Agreed, I actually think it is better than Duo. Discarding a random card and the worst card in your opponent's hand, vs shuffling back the best card in their hand and getting hand knowledge is a no-brainer for me. Duo can even hit the wrong card and/or allow your opponent to put cards they want in the GY. It would be dead vs Eldlich. Sentry is never bad.

@@Tm-oe8ch maxx C at 3 for 6-7 seven years doesn't mean its any less broken as it essentially makes it so your opponent doesn't do anything and you otk them next turn or your opponent does their plays and since you have more than 10 cards in your hand u can break whatever board they make.
@@ferretrevelvent6793 Maxx C at 3 is fine. Its literally healthy for yugioh. You have multiple ways to counter it. And even if it resolves, its at 3 and you yourself have a high chance drawing it and using it on your opp turn. All other cards going to 3 breaks the game. Maxx C doesnt break the game.

Nah, it's way more broken than Electrumite and Ptolemy, should be atleast A tier since it can open many insane combos or enable a lot of degenerate FTKs, also it's much easier to summon than Electrumite.

It was cool how grass made 60 card decks viable. It changed deck building when it was out. Ever since it's been banned it's just been standard 40 card decks.
There have been several 60 card deck variants that have been playable since then. Many people think that dragonlink should be played at 60 cards because there are so many extenders available playing 60 cards allows for a less likelihood of drawing garnets
Rewarding players a 20 card mill just because they built their deck to have 60 card was pretty stupid in my opinion. The fact Konami printed Grass after we had lived through Perfect Circle, Tele-DAD and Dragon Rulers in 2016 and thought it was a good idea is baffling. Not to mention the fact That Grass Looks Greener is the only card with the distinct honour of being banned in both the TCG and in Duel Links.

I honestly kinda miss Fairy Dragon I know it's there cause field spells just got so nutty but it was one of my first ever extremely high rarity cards that I was proud to have as a kid & its 3k defense against other kids in playground yugioh was a lot.
That's... actually really sweet. I think a lot of people adore Ancient Fairy Dragon and a card like Summon Sorceress because they aren't unfair they're generically useful cards for so many decks. Problem is they just make strong decks so much stronger and expand the valley between those decks.

The thing with Yata is, it needs to attack your opponents life points to be broken, which you can't even do on your frist turn. Which means it is basically a brick in your hand turn 1. And with how fast the game currently is, there propably won't be any way for you to resolve this effect going second either. Many people might not agree with me on this but I don't think it would be gamebreaking in contemporary yu-gi-oh
Man the Zipf mystery strikes even in Yugioh tier lists.
20% of all cards in yugioh is responsible for nearly 80% of what decks people use are made of.
victory dragon is banned pretty much for the reason you said; your opponent will just scoop at any time rather than let it resolve, which is honestly kind of bad sportsmanship. so since it makes both sides feel pretty crummy, its not in use, since a game should - theoretically - end with enjoyment. sometimes you need to take cards out for the purpose of fun, not just balance
Honestly can’t believe brilliant fusion is below yata. Like it’s a foolish for light monsters, a free link body and an extra normal. Or if you don’t have a light in deck and want to send pyro or aquas to the grave then you can. This card has just gotten so much better over time.
Starving Venom is very underrated, people forget that it also gives all your monsters piercing damage and can copy from either field or GY which makes it very versitile especially with how easy it is to summon
Starving Venom is a really cool card, it's a shame that it's overshadowed by the Lyrilusc ftk thing as "The only thing it does."

To be honest Lavalal Chain is the worst entry on the list IMO, Rank 4's are the easiest in the game to create and what Lavalal Chain enables is so stupid.

Victory Dragon is banned because of the arguments that it causes. Judges hate the card and people argue about whether admitting defeat with it on field would win you the match. It's not a good card but it's just a nightmare and Konami might have to issue a ruling that overrides game mechanics for the card. It's like Self-Destruct button. Just because the majority wouldn't play it, they don't want one person to play it and ruin things for everyone. And it can resolve. There are people that don't know you can surrender at any time. The game needs to be fun for young kids as well as professionals.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this in the comments yet, but the reason Victory Dragon is banned is because of a ruling discrepancy in the OCG. You are correct that you can just scoop once Victory Dragon hits the field in the TCG, but in the OCG your opponent actually has the ability to refuse your concession and keep the game going (and thus be able to actually resolve Victory Dragon's effect).
I still think cards that say "You win the match." shouldn't exist mostly because they are confusing.
I would love to see you do some deck building videos for more casual play. You can do things around themes like what is a fun troll deck or a deck built around specific cards that are just bad in competitive like Exodia. You could even do exhibitions with them by inviting friends such as with the series you were doing before. Example is the "Build a deck with only spells." episode.
Victory Dragon is banned because it is the only match win card that doesn't say "This card cannot be used in a duel" on the bottom. It is only banned for the sake of consistency.
I love salamangreats, but everybody is sleeping on how good stalio is. The problem with miragestalio is not just that it is an insanely good xyz monster. Spinny becomes a recurrable resource when it’s used as material for stalio, jack jaguar can return it to the extra deck so even putting it at 1 gives it so much more mileage than usual, and it pretty much guarantees you find gazelle (which is also a one card miragestalio if you open it). All of the cards around miragestalio actively make it amazing for salamangreats, especially in MR5. That being said I would love to see it come off the list, I’m just tired of people acting like this card would do nothing.
Agreed. I don't think Stallio is banned because it's broken though, I think it's banned because without it gives Salad decks a reason to experiment with different builds and strategies, or to put it another way buy Konami product when it helps the archetype. I like Stallio but I can see why he is where he is.

The thing with victory dragon is that if you do scoop your opponent still gets the win for that round and than if they get it out in game 2 they will win the match either way, so it's either scoop and give them the win or let them use it's effect and win.
Victory Dragon literally gives the person using it a victory because they will win either way.

That grass looks greener is the only card that is banned in both of the tcg and duel links. For some reason, Konami thought it was fine to put in duel links.
How the hell is Forceful Sentry not in S tier? You get full knowledge of the opponent's hand without any loss in card advantage, since you get to remove the best card from their hand. And guess what, there's no cost.

Out of 75+ 19 have made the cut for 2 out of 6 letters which is about 1/4 of the cards in the top 1/3 tier which actually makes sense to me because lower tiers should be heavy and S Tier should be extra light vs an even distribution.
A Tier should follow almost normal bell curve distribution so out of 4 normal letters it should have over 1/8. (A+D = over 1/4, B+C = 1/2, S+F = less than 1/4, AD + SF = 1/2)
Out of maybe 100 cards that's 25 each in B and C tier.
B is at 20, C is at 23 but we have more cards left to get to 100.
Okay this is mostly not bogus.

Surprisingly I did agree with a lot on this list but Delinquent Duo and Cold Wave are S Tier at 100%.
Cold wave is literally vanity's emptyness for spell & traps and Duo is a reverse Pot of Greed
Forceful Sentry and Confiscation are also S tier.
Confiscation is the best one of them all imo considering the GY is so strong these days
I think this list really does a disservice to Brilliant Fusion. *Every* deck was playing that engine until it got banned. I swear it was as dominant as the Adventure engine is right now. Free link material, an extra normal summon. Just nuts
I know this would've added a lot of editing work, but I would've loved to see the cards shown on the side while you talk about them. Would really help follow when you don't know those cards, especially the more recent ones with like a dozen broken effects at once.
Hey Cimo, awesome video, as someone who recently got back.into the game since playing tier 1 inzektor back in 2011-12 its fun to see the old cards and the new ones and why they are banned. Still loving the videos, both the series as well as the "one of" videos haha
That Grass Looks Greener should be unbanned. Even when it was at 3, grass decks weren't the best deck in the format. When it went to 1, grass decks were tier 2 on a good day. All grass did was provide the TCG format with some diversity in deckbuilding options and allowed players to innovate new strategies that was fun (outside of fairy tail snow, which no longer is a problem).

Confused as to why Brilliant Fusion is C tier but Yata Garasu is A-tier? Brilliant can be used in basically any deck and gives you at least 2-3 monsters for free

I could be wrong about this statement but this is my theory.
I don't really follow this game that much anymore.
Anyway, here we go.
S= Should not have existed in both areas (anime and real-life).
A= Should have not been printed.
B= Should Always be banned.
C= Can come back if it's errata.
D= Can come back to one without an errata.
F= Can be replaced with another card and/or just come back to one, two, or three without a replacement.
Yata-Garasu if you focus on actual effects and interactions is F tier sure its effect if you attack your opponent directly is good but I cant imagine it’s effect going off being easier then other table 500 decks like flying elephant, and stormwinds does a better messing with your opponent using game mechanics with a winged beast monster

TBF Premature Burial is so stupidly easy to search and recycle it's stupid it's probably the best "Monster Reborn" in the game. Spellbook of Judgement is a fucking baffling card to me because it's SO MUCH advantage and you'd get even more now thanks to Spellbook of Knowledge and Crowley on top of a free spellcaster special summon. Nowadays I think SOJ would be game wraping but I still think it would be so stupidly overpowered.

Can someone explain to me how Gumblar is a worse card than Yata??? They essentially are the same effect but you have to draw, normal summon, and successfully attack with one, the other is a generic link monster in your ED.
To be honest I think That Grass Looks Greener deserves bonus points, purely for the fact this wasn't one of those cards where "we didn't know the kind of degenerate shit this card would end up doing"... the card was released in 2016 and perhaps more hilariously they took a look at that exact same card and released it for Duel Links where it ended up getting banned almost 10 minutes later. XD

Do anything you want, can only be used once per human lifetime.
Yata could go to three and no one would play it. Time seal would maybe see some play in niche stall decks, but it wouldnt do anything note worthy. Engage could go to 1 and it would still not get striker to be playable when there are much better control decks. A lot of these can be fixed with once per turn clauses.
Honestly, you could probably put a lot of these to 1 and they would probably be fine. They would be sacky and annoying, but the power creep of the game is to the point that most of these aren't a threat. The meta is going to have cancer in it no matter what.

Level Eater is seriously underrated in this list. Harp Horror is better than F Tier, especially considering the mechanics of the Deck.
I played a deck with only jars and some cards else… it gives a deck-put in one turn. That’s why they are banished. But idk if just one or another wasn’t banished would make that much difference…

Sixth Sense was released in the OCG in 2003, it was just an extremely late import.
Card of safe return is so ridiculous in that it's nerfed from the anime draw 3 effect.
That was so much fun to do in zombies as well especially with Zombie master. Realistically you'd never be able to pull off 3 that didn't come until the OCG came out with level eater but god damn it was so fun to play.

This is a great tier list, but I have a complaint. The only card I disagree with its placement on the list is Victory Dragon, as while yeah no one's gonna let you resolve the match winner effect, you need to think about how you prevent the effect; You forfeit the duel. At that point, Victory Dragon just becomes an Auto-Win card instead, so I'd say that it shouldn't be F tier, but because of how it needs to have a deck built around it, I'd say it should be either C or B tier.
About Carrier: the biggest problem with it is the fact that you can equip any monster that you can with it. If it was lock up only for union monsters it would be very ok. Pretty generical. Maybe an errata can fix it and bring back from the banlist.
Honestly just add hard once per turn effects to cards that help enable ftk decks. That alone might ruin the card but it's already banned and can't be played so might as well nerf it to release it back into the wild.
A note about Victory Dragon is that in the OCG, you can't just scoop. When you try to concede there, your opponent must accept it before the duel ends.
Also, even ignoring the principle of keeping match winners out of the regular game, Victory Dragon cannot be released in the TCG largely because it would cause a lot of fights:
"What do you mean I don't win the match!? All I had left to do was attack with it, but you scooped!"
Or in other words, there would be A LOT of warnings and citations for Unsporting Conduct at events, since the scooping player would be abusing tournament rules expressly to avoid losing the match. And what would you rather take, a Warning that might later be upgraded to give you a game-loss? Or a match loss?
Self-Destruct Button on the other hand is banned because of time reasons. You can extend a match almost indefinitely with this card, which means lots of extra time being spent just waiting for one table to finish. And also because it's just a "Well, I'm not winning this game, so I'll force it to draw until I can eventually scrape out two wins." And lemme tell you, draws are a PITA for calculating swiss, and draws out elimination brackets.
Cimo, I get the Yata PTSD but it could go to 3 now and nobody would care. If you can get a clear shot at your opponent's life points in today's game with Yata you've probably already won the game anyway.
The whole point is that the yata lock was the biggest insult you could do to another player and yata caused the banlist to come into existance.

If even ocg doesnt unban it.. what makes you think tcg will? Ocg is way more hardcore than us and still dont wanna release it. Dont be surprised when your wrong cause Konami knows what future cards are coming out and how those type of cards can be abused again
