Hag is one of the only killers that still scares me sometimes and that is the real reason i started playing dbd in the first place. I wish they would go back to this and make more killers with jump scares and all that, very hard to be scared by a short neon purple singer in a neon yellow curtain. Sadakos scary sometiumes tho

I used to be a spirit main before they fucked her all up, even survivors have told me that they enjoyed the tension and jumpscares that came with a gen grab.

I actually watch the guy who has 2/3rd of Hag's WRs (he has longest win streak and fasted 4k) streams. He outright refuses to use Mint Rag because of how powerful it is. His main add-ons are Shackles and Teleport Range. He says don't use Trigger Range because the stock range is the same as your lunge.

is it bad that I actually like playing the hag the most? I haven't bought any killers though so she's the only one I can play okay with (bc she's kind of camp-y to be fair) and I kind of like that no one likes or talks about her much because then people are a little more surprised when you play her and I get to indulge in my old 2016 hipstery guilty pleasure of liking the unpopular thing
I like to play hag too, lock down gens in another part of them placing traps waiting for survivors to be lured to remaining gens to hunt .:3
feel the same way, i struggled to find a high tier killer I was good at until I said fuck it and gave her a try. Now she’s my niche high difficulty killer I can claim to be good at, because blight and nurse just didn’t work for me

The Hag doesn't need a rework like other recent killers because it already had one a couple of years ago to buff the trap setting base speed, which turned her into a much stronger character.
The existing addons are mostly all useful and any changes by BHVR will only be in the negative direction so it's best they are not touched, either. Hag is not meant to be a chase killer, only going at 110% speed, so right there that will confuse the more dumb players on how to use her properly, which is setting traps in advance of chases. She works well for those who figure out the unique gameplay associate with it.
Okay, but that 16m Terror Radius with Monitor and Abuse though. I've had Survivors walk right into me when they're not walking into my traps.

Hag's taking that Twins spot of underused character, I seriously almost never see her and keep bumping into Slugging Nurses, Curving Blights, Trickster downing you in 0.1 milliseconds because there were no walls nearby when doing a gen in the open and, worst of all, Plague players..

(15:49) Fort was in the name Fortnite because there's another mode that was being developed before the abandoned it for BR (you can still play it but it's been effectively put on maintenance mode with the community getting the scraps of it's more popular younger, more profitable sibling), where you built a Fort and defended it for an extended period of time. Hence, Fortnite.
They restructured and renamed it to Fortnite: Save the World since by that time Fortnite had become a brand.
A lore reason for Hag being slow would be that she was in a fucked up situation where her muscles atrophied immensely, at least if iirc, it makes sense that rotted muscle would struggle to move a human skeleton but the voodoo magic somewhat compensates for her and allows her to move more maybe? it's a bit of headcannon but eh

so many guides and tutorials miss one vital information about the hags power ie trap. i see so many hags lay 1-5 traps for example at a hooked survivor , because they think the trap triangle mark on the floor is the trap itself however its not, there is circumference that can be visibly seen by the hag , this can be widened by add ons, so trap activation is the entire of the trap and not just the triangle shape that appears after youve placed trap. knowing this would improve and help a lot of players who main or want to use the hag. for example putting traps nears window vaults is not a good idea because traps can be activated away from where you teleport too, so why is the triangle mark , its to inform u as hag theres a trap there and its the point of the trap where the hags phantasm appears from and where u as the hag replaces the phantasm.

They did a lot more than the footsteps. Back in the day, she was one of the worst killers in the game.
She had a stupidly long trap setting time, and almost all of her add-ons came with a minuscule upside with an abhorrent downside, like increased setting speed at the cost of decreased teleport range, and increased trap range at the cost of decreased trap duration.
They buffed her around the middle of 2018 if I’m not mistaken, alongside Trapper with new add-on changes and trap setting speed buffs.

I really struggle playing with Hag. I find survivors keep blowing through my traps and by the time I teleport they're long gone. She's so slow in the chase.

i do still think hexes and boons are hilariously unbalanced. One is something a single person can bring with them which can be destroyed permanently, the other something 4 people can bring with them (In theory but one person is enough) and theres just infinite of them

The weirdest thing about Hag is that people always forget she exists even though she's one of the top tier killers. Like every time meta discussions come up, it's always Nurse, Spirit, and Blight, with no mention of Hag, even though you can run no perks no addons with her and still clap at high MMR
I guess it's because the application of her power in response to a survivor is better than the power itself. Like the whole trap system seems to have originally been intended as a hit and run or map control playstyle, but fits far better as a survivor perk denial machine. Sprint Burst means nothing if they run into a trap 5 metres down the line, DS stun and distance caused means nothing if they hit a trap later down the line, Dead Hard prevents a swing but Hag's strength comes from having the most opportunities of any killer to get a hit without direct input. Nurse must blink to get a hit, Blight must dash to get a hit, Spirit usually has to phase to get a hit, whereas Hag only needs to be patient and corral a survivor into an area with traps to get a hit. In the hold W meta a power like that arguably has more potential than the high tier killers when used correctly
It's because the power has to be triggered by survivors. Yes it is strong but if someone knows how to avoid/destroy or even play around this then she becomes a M1 killer with significantly less speed. This makes her inconsistent and partly reliant on the survivors mistakes. The start of a game you have to predict the most active areas then place intelligent traps in the hopes that they are effective. Even then that area once noticed could be avoided until the swf is ready to clear it out and do the objectives. So the only other option is forced zoning eg trap and area that you hooked someone in... Basically tunneling/camping this is what she excels at because she can control it reducing the inconsistencies, with DBD actively trying to stop camping and tunneling you are indirectly nerfing the hag. Things can go very right with her but also extremely wrong, you either play in a none fun way or you start fliping coins.
That's something that always bothered me about those types of discussions. Sure, Nurse can teleport through the games obstacles, Spirit can go invisible and can be very hard to track, Blight can zip around like sonic, but are people really ignoring the killer than can instantaneously teleport to any trap and immediately follow it up with an attack?
she claps at high mmr pubs but if you’ve seen someone play hag at a tournament you can see why she’s sometimes left out. If all four survivors communicate and now exactly how to deal with a hag, you’re going to have a horrible time. She’s high tier yeah, but not tournament level

The ending is actually really interesting. It feels like the gaming space is maturing in some ways. In 2016-2018 it was all about gimmicks, innovation, trying something new. But as it's gone on, we've realised what people like, and we're sticking to it. Building was new, it was interesting, it captured peoples imaginations. And then we realised people like to shoot people not wood. A killer like hag is interesting, new, provides a different playstyle to the game... Are we going to realise that everyone really just enjoys loops and chases? There's this tendency when looking at trends to homogenise people, to treat outliers as not individuals with tastes and preferences but data points that don't fit the graph and should be ignored. Who's to say people enjoy the "wrong" thing about fortnight? That enjoying building and the new dynamcy it brings to the space is an inferior waste of breath? Who's to say enjoying the feeling of being a cunning mastermind, setting up death traps as hag is an inferior waste of breath? Maybe the charm is in the fact that people don't like those things. Maybe it's the interesting outliers that make the chart worth drawing in the first place.

I actually can't stand chase-oriented killers. Setting up traps and corralling survivors into them is the fun part. Holding W and breaking wood is not.
However, as your MMR increases every second you spend setting a trap is at least 2 generator-seconds lost. So at a certain point, not getting in a chase immediately is a liability. Trap killers stop being viable.

In the right hands the Hag can be punishing. She was the first killer I made it to rank 1 with. But if you go against a sweaty SWF team armed with flashlights things can go bad depending on what add-ons you are using.

They did a lot more than her trap setting-her add-ons were also altered. Her add-ons used to have a benefit and a downside, like increased trap setting speed at the cost of decreased trap setting range.
nah you're right. That update is why Hag gets ranked high on tierlists now. She used to take FOREVER placing traps. It was a huge buff, which made him saying she was untouched weird. She's just a rare case of DBD doing exactly what they needed to the first time.

Hag is my main and i really freaking wish they would touch her addons. Watching all the other killers getting fun addon effects and Hag still having Grandmas heart and Deaf boy's ear (WHICH DO NOTHING) hurts my soul.

Sadly she has officially been reworked recently. You can't use the flashlight to break her runes anymore. Instead, much like Trapper's bear traps, you can sneak up to them and interact to disable them.

Hag is my favorite killer. In my eyes she has all the best parts of Trapper and Twins without the downsides. (Though she has weaknesses of her own). She’s certainly very campy, but she has more to her power than that as well. To this day one of my favorite things to do with her is to force a survivor to choose whether they think I or my phantasm is the greater threat. Being in multiple places at once isn’t something many killers can do so elegantly.
They have updated her, notably they made it significantly faster to place traps than on release
I love your Dead by Daylight videos man. It feels like you bring such a fresh breath of air with your point of view and way of speaking, it feels so much different than just “this is how to play Hag. These are her perks. These are her add-ons.”, I don’t know how to describe it well, but I’ll try. You bring a lot of the sarcastic, detached (not bad detached) vibe that this game desperately needs. I feel people are too wrapped up and attached to this game nowadays (I am no exception), take it way to seriously and invest a lot of energy into its bad parts. They strip it down to its bare bones mechanics and only the meta perks, how to win and not win, etc. You bring the vibe of someone who cares about this game but looks at it as a whole, not just it’s present state or meta, which is refreshing to see. Plus your way with humor is awesome and EXTREMELY refreshing!! Your content never fails to put a smile on my face. Thanks dude!

I may be mistaken but I feel like the hag did get some changes, I don't think the hand addon was there on release and I remember an update that made the traps deploy quicker.

No lore excuse for her being slower? What about, I dunno, all her muscles were flayed off her bones, and replaced by the Entity with mud and sheer fucking willpower? That'd leave you a bit slower than at your prime, I'd think. And she's not an old lady, she's a young girl that only looks like a hag because of the aforementioned torture.
I liiiiiiiike the Hag, but I also like 3 or 4 killers more than her. She's also less fun to play in today's insane gen speed meta. However, I think she'll be a favorite of mine in the DBD board game.

This is why I'm personally hoping for instead of new killers. Killer update chapters. Give us real trailers, update powers and looks for the older killers, aside from Nurse and Doc. So that way, rather then having them feel off in this new environment, they get up to speed, and it doesn't feel like a gamble when playing survivor if you're gonna have a free game, or a hard game.

Hags one of the only killers who scares me when i trigger her traps especially if i dont expect a trap like in the middle of no where. Usually i expect them near a pallet or door or gens but sometimes they will just be in the middle of map for no reason lol

Hag, GhostFace, Michael Myers and dredge are the only killers that frighten me xD
The game is slowly loosing its scare factor for just straight-up killer killers who do not scare you in the slightest.
Also, the hag is very much based off of a stereotypical New Orleans Hoodoo Witch theme, hence both of them being POC. Hag has withering dreads, and her chaser is also poc. The map she has looks like the swamps out in new orleans as well. So I'm sad they aren't even working on the hag, the only black female killer to date.
Seeing the direction behavior is taking...we lucky to even see a unique killer in general.
And my comment seems to have disappeared, maybe RUclips. They did change this killer, they made her traps speed up faster when being placed.
They also changed Empathy because they changed it to be worse. It used to have an inf range but they capped it to 128 meters? Slowly people stopped using it after that.
Ruin WAS stronger ( I still preferred old ruin ) but now it’s 100%, so it’s almost worthless. Thanks BHVR! They make bad changes sometimes.

You missed the chance to use TUR jays footage, I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible, he was the king of what people called the dark days of DBD but in my opinion, not in a bad way, the toxic surviver mains got the karma they deserved.

I understand why a lot of people hate the dark days.
For the longest time I have had no interest in buying Hag. She's ugly and I honestly don't like her perks all that much. Even ruin. Yes completely thanks to boons. Today I decided to buy her DLC pack and for the simple reason of needing the BP boosts from her and the survivor challenges in her former tome. I've player her a handful of rounds so far and... she's awful. Or perhaps I should say that she has been out for so long that her counterplay is common knowledge and Boons make her hex perks useless. I can lose all 3 perks for her in seconds and have. It's the epitome of why Boons are OP. Not their effects but their mechanics.

Dead By Daylight is in kind of a tricky position as time has gone on. The ability to be weird and wacky has faded, because even with new players arriving all the time, the playerbase as a whole is full of people with experience dating back years now. People "know" what constitutes a good or bad killer, a good or bad change, a good or bad player, and what options the devs have when creating something is limited because of it, since they "need" to have it be balanced properly to make a game enjoyable for both sides. Unfortunately, the game and the skill of the gamers have sped up immensely, and so everything needs to reflect that. EIther something is Good or it is Garbage, because unless it lets a killer beat loops or a survivor do more bullshit things, it gets thrown into obscurity aside from a handful of people putting something on from time to time. It isn't necessarily bad but there isn't really a way to "stop" the game from heading down that path except for a truly groundbreaking/basebreaking set of changes that people likely wouldn't enjoy just for it being Different.
I used to be a hag main. But when they ruined ruin I stopped playing killer altogether. Gone are the days where I could force survivors to do hexes to do gens. Force them to work for it, to earn it. But no, can't challenge survivors in any meaningful way anymore. The game suffers from severe survivor bias and I really miss playing killer sometimes.
Ruin change seemed like shit at the time because surprising amount of people missed that you *no longer have to kick gens*. Which is, as you mentioned it, an increase of power for this hex.
p.s. I still think that entire 'hex', and even more - 'boon' mechanic is absolute garbage from the design point, but still.~

My guide on hag:
Just like trapper, hag has few type of traps. First trap is protection traps. This traps are gonna protect the totems and gens the place you set them. Always place those but dont overdo it. Your max limit for this is 4 traps. Second trap is guaranteed hit trap. This traps are the traps that guarantees a hit. Place this on pallets and windows, teleport the moment they step on it and free hit. Like nurse blinks, this is unavoidable you can down survivors in miliseconds and skip chases with this. Third one is prediction traps. This trap is the trap that you place in random patches of grass near gens. If survivor steps two or three of those, he gets a hit.
