People who don't have adhd, or even those that just done have an inattentive type, have NO IDEA how much their brain is working to reward them for even the most mundane tasks. Even when people are adamant that they hate doing chores and things 'just as much as you do, but get it done coz not lazy, etc...' I'm always like 'Oh, so you also feel like you're pulling out you're own fingernails the entire 8 hours you're at work almost everyday???' It's literally the best way I can describe the sensation for myself. Rather than reward chemicals I'm basically fueled by adrenaline and cortisol CONSTANTLY, when I'm not medicated. No hate to tree by any means. I understand that not having experienced it, it really does just seem like laziness or being a diva.
I’m pleasantly surprised Destiny’s description of living with ADHD is muah, perfect. I was really feeling the med shortage at work last week. Everything feels like a chore no matter how important or beneficial it may be. When I’m on meds, being productive is actually fun and peaceful. Finishing a job feels more like completing a quest. Wouldn’t wish this shit on my worst enemy.

One of the biggest things about adhd is the inability to self motivate. This is what people don't get. Things like future consequences do not work for adhd people. Things that offer immediate reward are typically going to be the things they engage with normally.
I never thought after Tree's first appearance on Destiny's stream that she would become one of the most uplifting, chill, and stable people in the orbit.
The reason adhd isn't considered laziness is because the front of the mind that dictates doing and the back of the mind that governs knowing do not communicate effectively or at all depending on the severity of the disorder. It can be surmounted with great effort, but without an effective discipline/ reward system, it is nearly impossible to cope without strong emotions that can be crippling.
Bipolar 1 here... It fucking sucks and there's alot of shame sometimes... We'll react a certain way and then after the fact think why the fuck did I do that? I was being ridiculous... It's embarrassing for us. We don't understand why sometimes we can't just reel it in first. And missing or stopping meds is the worst thing you can do. Be responsible and more aware of yourself. Symptoms happen but it's not an excuse.

Men will talk about sex but in generalities like "she sucked me so good" or "her ass was so phat" but the level of detail women go into "he started eating my ass and he does this thing with his tongue" or" his dick was so big and it has the cutest little birthmark on the side of it." While it's true you might change your mind more when you're younger, that's not necessarily the case w/ Sneako. He never really changes his mind, but only tries to act like he did for "fame & fortune". By definition, Sneako's a grifter. One of the biggest things about adhd is the inability to self motivate. This is what people don't get. Things like future consequences do not work for adhd people. Things that offer immediate reward are typically going to be the things they engage with normally.

The reason adhd isn't considered laziness is because the front of the mind that dictates doing and the back of the mind that governs knowing do not communicate effectively or at all depending on the severity of the disorder. It can be surmounted with great effort, but without an effective discipline/ reward system, it is nearly impossible to cope without strong emotions that can be crippling.

Bipolar 1 here... It fucking sucks and there's alot of shame sometimes... We'll react a certain way and then after the fact think why the fuck did I do that? I was being ridiculous... It's embarrassing for us. We don't understand why sometimes we can't just reel it in first. And missing or stopping meds is the worst thing you can do. Be responsible and more aware of yourself. Symptoms happen but it's not an excuse.
