    I was born in Osaka and have lived there for 50 years. Thank you for staying in the very nostalgic downtown area of Osaka. The videos, colors, and music of the Showa era cafe were very soothing. I have never stayed in Nishinari (because I live in Osaka), but how was it? The view of Abeno Harukas is great! Were you surprised to see so many houses crowded together?

      Thank you for your comment! I really enjoyed staying in Nishinari. It felt like a true local experience and I loved being so close to deep osaka street that took me back in time. The houses didn't surprise me too much as i'm used to nyc. 😂

    You were staying in the city of Nishinari, where I live!
    Nishinari is a town of day laborers and is truly a downtown area.
    There are cheap and tasty restaurants and supermarkets in the area.
    Thank you for coming to Japan and to Osaka!
    As a Japanese, I am honored to be a page in your memory.

      Thank you for your comment. ☺️ We loved staying there; it reminded us of our home city, Chicago, in many ways. When we come back, we would love to stay in Nishinari again.

      This is truly enjoyable experience while visiting. Nishinari is a sad story/aspect of Japan. I visited many times without any problems. One can find cheap eateries and bars.

    Nishinari is one of the most sketchy places in Japan. So I don't recommend staying in that place for a long period of time. It seems that you don't try konamon in Osaka that much. Kona means flour and mon means stuff. So konamon means like udon, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and takoyaki. They are pround of them. So try some next time.

      Thanks for the comment and tips. We did try all of those things but I didnt film everything. In my last Osaka vlog, i shared the takoyaki. 😊

    I was a young child when my Dad was stationed in Atsugi, Japan and I've always wanted to go back as an adult. Would you say Japan is fairly easy to navigate without knowing the language?

    • @olivia.anelise
      @olivia.anelise  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment. How cool! In the main areas like tokyo, kyoto, osaka, it was fairly easy to get around. I had google translate downloaded for any quick translations in places that didn't have english options and pointed to whatever I was ordering. Even though there is a language barrier, I found that people are extremely helpful and patient.
