Father, I stretch my hands to Thee. No other help, no other help. Only You Father in October 2024. Thank God for those who penned these songs and those that sang them. Thank you, Jesus.
I stretch my hand to God my Father, Friend, Source, Resource, Joy and Peace. I have loved Rev. Barnes' song for 60 years. You should listen to "Jesus I Love You"; I'm in God's Care; and my favorite "God Will Heal the Land." Thank you for this version with lyrics and beautiful pictures. Truly God is our truth, love and our only help; separation from God is a horrible thought! I quietly listen for his small voice to my heart, my spirit. Studying His Word, the Bible, is my greatest joy and peace. Tell the masses!
IN MY YOUTH, THIS SONG WAS SANG METERED!! THE SONG WAS SANG IN THE LITTLE WOoDEN SOUTHERN CHURCHES BY THE SAINTS WITHOUT MUSIC,. SOME TIMES THE HOLY SPIRIT WOULD FILL THE PLACE.! I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THEN BUT LIFE AS BELIEVER HAS TAUGHT ME WHY THE SAINTS SANG THE SONG SO POWERFUL!! THANK YOU GOD 🙏🏿
This was the hymn John Downes gave out on Friday, November 4, 1774, when death seized him in West Street Chapel, London. Wesley took great pride in this preacher’s mechanical genius, and in the portrait which Downes made of him. In the afternoon before his appointment, Downes said, ‘I feel such a love to the people of West Street, that I would be content to die with them. I do not find myself very well; but I must be with them this evening.’ His text was ‘Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,’ and great power attended the message; but when he had spoken for ten minutes his strength was gone, and he gave out the lines- Father, I stretch my hands to Thee, No other help I know. His voice failed. He fell on his knees, as if he intended to pray, ‘but he could not be heard.’ The preachers who were present raised him up and bore him to bed, where he soon breathed his last breath. He was only fifty-two. Source: Telford, pp. 228-29
How I understand the difference is that , “BREATH IS A NOUN “ We cannot see it but it’s life given by God only. BREATHE IS A VERB, An action word, we breathe the breath of life.
