- Have you ever heard of the historic Kursaal, or the wooden platform that was assembled every summer in Rimini?
Even in Rimini, as in other northern European cities, people came to take sea baths, which are precious for health.
You got it right: once upon a time you didn't go to the beach in a costume for fun!
In this episode the fascinating story of the birth of seaside tourism will be told.
Rimini is one of the first cities in Italy to develop the tourist economy linked to the beach, thanks to the initiative and audacity of two noblemen from Rimini.
With the entry of the Municipality of Rimini into the beach enterprise, wonderful places were created for the 'sea tourist' to stay with all the comforts, which grow with every season: the splendid Kursaal, the villas and, in the twentieth century, a large luxury hotel, the Grand Hotel, later linked to the director Federico Fellini.
