Oh...my guy, I have done this for fun, actually (just not on legendary). For a run like this, you need to grab bound sword, which is a novice spell, and put your perks in conjuration to bump the damage of conjured weapons. A lot of people crap on the bound weapons, but the math does not support their disdain. Bound weapons get really good really fast if you perk them out. When I play as a mage with a follower, I frequently use fury and bound sword as main spells with an illusion/conjuration build that bumps their efficacy. I cast fury to keep them fighting each other, flames for the passive DoT, and then chop at whoever's left at the end with my sword. It's remarkably effective. I honestly haven't run a stealth archer playthrough in years because once I went with bound weapons, I didn't ever want to go back.
Oh my god, I didn't even realise bound sword was a novice spell. This happens every time I do a challenge run, I don't do my research and the comments let me know all the stuff I missed that would've made my life better lmao. @@ZekeWaters_ Conjuration only challenge wouldn't be terribly difficult since it's busted as hell. You get twin souls perk and you'll be suprised to find out that 2 Dremora lords can kill basically anything in the game.
Just a tip: armour doesn't matter at all with resisting magic. Three Nords in unenchanted Leather, Steel and plain clothing will both receive 25 fire damage from Firebolt. Magical armour like Oakflesh also only protects from physical damage. To resist magical damage, you need either general Magic Resistance (like the one Bretons get as a race feature), which will decrease damage from most magical damage types (I think there are some rare damage types that ignore them, but I can't recall), or a specific resistance to element (Nord and Dark Elf racials as example), or Poison Resistance (it's considered magical damage too). Armour is only gonna help if it has enchantment like that, but just armour rating protects ONLY from physical damage.
I also had that bug where the game basically locks you into novice difficulty. Three things for early game mages. First if you favorite the hood that gives 30 mana in the tutorial, open the favorites menu with up or down on the dpad, and hold left or right on the hood with that menu open, you can set it to a hotkey. I keep it on the left dpad, double tap and instant unequip and re-equip it for instant 30 mana refill when you run out (Also works for doing power attacks with weapons unequiping as soon as you make contact and do damage to cancel the animation and be able to keep moving) Second, the basic fire spells typically say “does more damage to enemies on fire” which means you do damage faster by spamming the initial cast instead of just holding the cast for spells like flames. Third, if you have creation club content, buy steel blue entoloma from khajit caravans and glowing mushroom to grow at goldenglow plantation for potions to increase destruction damage. Nightshade also does it and can be grown in farm plots but will make a weaker potion than steel blue, but nightshade and glowing mushrooms can be grown at tundra homestead no creation club needed. Bonus: if you’re not locked to novice spells, take the dual destruction and followup perk that says it can stagger, firebolt is now strong enough to beat the entire game for free, even dragons stagger.
Another thing is aspect of terror boosting fire damage. Usually more of a niche thing unless your using incinerate. Edit: just came back to this, it should be ignited not incinerate
For someone with so many mods to make the game look better, it's kinda weird for you to not have TrueHUD which gives you much better information in general Also, the "Flames" spell has a better damage overall when cast a bit, then wait for dot, then cast again... This is because of DOT effect afterwards not because enemies on fire take more damage as someone else said, this only means they take damage because they are on fire, not that they have lower resistance when on fire Also, until what I've seen you're overusing the Dual Cast perk, as it is not efficient. @@daboomchakalaka7898 It’s Choking Grasp, it was added by the creation club. It’s basically an absorb health spell.
@@ZekeWaters_ohhh nice, thought it looked unfamiliar didn’t realise mods were being used too, thanks!
@@daboomchakalaka7898 No worries! I basically count it as vanilla now because of the Anniversary edition adding it to the base game, that's why I let myself use it :)
@@ZekeWaters_fair enough :) a shame you had to decrease difficulty in winterhold questline :( could’ve grinded your levels more, and got a better follower, and basically play as a support mage :) although understand grinding to get loads more health/magicka and gear is long af !
Wait, but what enb?
@@SenorGermaine NAT III weather + ENB, i made a video on my mod list :)
@@ZekeWaters_ I just saw that. Did not look like nat III to me, was kinda surprised
Do novice gear only!!!!!
Duh just Use alchemy and enchanting to boost your dmg you won't have to use a single spell that isn't novice. ALSO dual casting sucks and you had to just cast recast cast recast flames to do even more dmg.
Yeah but using enchanting and alchemy kinds defeats the purpose, it trivialises everything. I have now learnt the hard way that duel casting sucks haha
Ayo!!!
lmao bro thinks Heavy Armor Effects his spell damage? why did u bring it up even?
your less than one minute in and your script is already stumbling more then my rushed essays😂
@@undergravitydownforce714he didn’t say that it does ?? He used the fury spell on them so they could help fight for him - and their heavy armor makes them more damage resistant and stronger .. he never did heavy armor effects his spell damage
The game was pitying you It knows you stand no chance in another difficulty apart from novice lol
You basically cancelled a challenge multiple times. What's even the point? You can't even call it challenge anymore, as everytime you encounter anything challenging you just cheat.
Good vid still tho😊
Sorry but the POV made me naucious lol
Just to make future challenges easier you could have just gotten Sanguines Rose and summoned a bunch of Daedra
@@jethrothegamer That’s true, but I feel like it wouldn’t fit with the nature of the challenge. In my mind that doesn’t count as a novice spell

Doesn't Skyrim have the fewest spells of any TES game
Pfff. Late game Skyrim mage is nothing compared to my Wooden Sword that's been improved and enchanted using the Restoration potion buff loop. My Wooden Sword does more damage than Jarrin Root and can one shot anything.
who cares
Your skyrim doesn't look like skyrim. Whatever mod makes your view wiggle is also ass, makes me feel like I'm drunk watching this. What really seals it is that you failed at about minute 19, fighting morokei. The whole point of a challenge like this is that it's hard and you think of creative ways to beat it, cheating just makes the whole thing pointless. It's not like you needed to kill the guy anyway, or hell using an exploit is still within the rules moreso than what you chose.
