Typically drawing a firearm is the play that doesn't seem prudent with all the bystanders present in a crowded area. Bottom line, Scotty needs to take accountability for his actions.

I'll tell you this, as a huge golf fan, Scottie actually could prob sue the PD after his round where he fell apart, he could've won without the arrest, or at least be higher than tied for 8. He straight up said he didn't process what actually happened until the next day and AFTER a talk with his lawyer. He was traumatized, his image took a hit, and he went down to 8th place. I mean, come on, he didn't do anything wrong, and I'm sorry, but with no body cam and with eye witnesses, and the video of poor Scottie asking for help, it just makes the Louisville PD look bad again, and I thought after federal investigation after Brianna Taylor they would watch their P's and Q's. How many people has he done something like that to before? I doubt it would be the first time, if he’s a detective. Every miss-justice has a huge effect on the family and friends of that person & changes feeling of the community about ALL police in the area. It doesn’t only affect their feelings about THAT cop, but ALL cops. That adds to the danger they already face in their jobs. If ANYTHING he said was inaccurate, this is not victimless, and the officer should be at a desk or “retired”. Imo

Actually what should happen is the POE LEASE be defunded. Then the POE LEASE abolished. It's time for humanity to END state sanctioned monopolization of SECURITY. POE LEASE were originally derived from the original Slave Catchers. When slavery was abolished, instead of abolishing the slave catchers, {which is what SHOULD have happened}, "they" repurposed the slave catchers and turned them into the POE LEASE. When you have POE LEASE + a State, you have a POE LEASE STATE. Security in of itself is a GOOD thing. But State sanctioned monopolization of SECURITY is a VERY BAD thing.

This case is about disregard for regulations and recklessness. Detective Bryan Gillis - the officer directing traffic in this case - failed to wear a body-cam in violation of Section 4.31.6 of LMPD's body-worn camera procedures. Witnessed say Gillis got agitated when he thought Scottie Scheffler disregarded his instructions. Why would an officer grab hold of a moving vehicle in the rain? That's plain stupid. The officer had a flashlight. Why didn't the officer go up to Scheffler - who was stopped and driving a clearly marked PGA Courtesy car no less - and ask who he was? Scheffler would have said he's a PGA pro playing in the tournament and the officer would have directed him around any traffic issues to get to the clubhouse. End of story. Clearly Gillis has an attitude and ego problem.
Let's assume Scheffler actually did something very wrong and reckless. The prudent course of action is to watch him drive into the parking lot, follow him, and make an arrest when he parks. Simple. Police officers do this hundreds of times a day. Why weren't the Louisville Police and PGA staff outside directing players and credentialed media around the traffic mess? The Louisville Police Department looks like a clown act in this case. Pathetic.

Peter, outstanding breakdown of the events, a couple things I would add is that Louisville Police Officer "Dobie" Gillis was part of the accident squad/detachment and was not a part of the squad (lucky few) chosen to escort and handle PGA Championships Officials and Participants throughout Tournament Week. That there were 2 different assignments handling 2 different duties had to lead to some type of miscommunications. Scottie was bailed out by one of Tournament Host Club Valhalla's Owner...and ironically Louisville Police Escorted Scottie Scheffler back to the Tournament (which had to suspend the whole PGA Championship Field for 90 minutes on Friday morning resulting in costly TV adjustments $$$ etc.). I talked with a close friend who runs Golf Tournaments and other Major Sporting Events, and he didn't think that Valhalla and Louisville would be seeing at least the Golf World clambering for a return to Louisville with a loss of opportunities in the $10s of millions. Scottie was victimized by an aggressive police officer who is willing to exaggerate, overstate, and outright lie in a police report, resulting in Sheffler’s arrest. Scottie can praise the police and write it off as a “misunderstanding” - he got out of jail in record time, made it to the first tee, and made a tidy $520,000, then flew home on a private jet. Most people (and every black person) understands this cop’s flexible relationship with the truth would have, at best, earned them a beating and a prison sentence, and at worst, gotten them shot and killed. If Scottie brushes this off rather than stands up and speaks out, this cop and other police officers will be free to continue to police aggressively, sloppily, and dishonestly, and innocent lives will continue to be ruined and ended. Scottie, stand up, bro. You are privileged, but you don’t have to be silently complicit. Speak up! Tell your story! Help make changes to a system, even if it works for you. One came over, I saw the other was my nosey neighbor. One said he was sheriff's deputy and he was there over "trash in my yard". To make a long story short we concluded our conversation, I drove to my gate, next thing I know my dad's car is being hit from behind, cop is jumping out of his car screaming he wants to see my license. He comes thru my gate with his hand on his gun!
As I'm reaching for my license, he yanks me out my car, throws me into the gate face first, starts beating on me, throws me on the ground and throws all his considerable weight on my back. Oh yeah i forgot to say, before he did this he conveniently took his bodycam off and threw it in the dirt. However, he didn't turn it off so it recorded it ALL!
I was charged with NINE charges, TWO FELONIES! I had a COPD attack, thought my wrist and arm were broken, had a stroke and now have damage to my neck and lower back.
Why? Because cop was doing my neighbor a "favor", his good buddy. See I had a nonprofit for vets on my property. Little cabins homeless vets could live in, the one neighbor & wife didn't like it. She'd walk up in front of my property screaming and cursing at my vets.
I've had to fight all this on my own. Almost bankrupted me. Had to close down my home for veterans. Lost MY home. All charges were dismissed. Pretty much identical circumstances to the woman that got stopped while going the "wrong way" while dropping her kid off at school. Except since she wasn't celebrity royalty she was treated to the cops ramming her vehicle to stop it with her 9yr old son inside, being violently ripped out of the car, thrown on the ground and handcuffed, and then intentionally held in a pain hold contorting her body so her face was directly in a fire ant colony for roughly ten minutes while a half dozen other cops stood around and laughed.
Perfect demonstration of the stark difference in how regular people are treated in comparison to the elite class.

If the officer intentionally “attached” himself to the car, these charges will have to be dropped. No officer is ever trained to stop a car for disobeying an officer’s order by “ attaching” himself to a car. Sounds like the process in the background right now is figuring out how to make this go away. Believe me, the police department wishes the officer never made this arrest. When he was released to appear on a felony charge, it tells you it was probably never the right charge and a police supervisor probably had to make that call to not make him appear in front of a judge. Also, one of the most frustrating jobs an officer has do is direct traffic in the dark and rain with lots of other police lights in the area. People see the lights and not the officers, it’s just a frustrating situation.

If there was ever a story that showed how embarrassingly dramatic America has become - it's this. This angle of "being dragged along the ground" to the point his "clothing was damaged beyond repair" is one of the laughably BS things I've ever heard. Couple of questions - where exactly did this guy attach himself to the vehicle so that his entire lower body could be dragged along the ground and to the point it would damage his $80 pants beyond repair? A wheel well? a towbar? Hanging off a door handle? With respect to that - dragged to that point (beyond repair) absolutely implies a considerable distance of dragging and at a considerable speed - maybe unless he was wearing a pair of swim-shorts or stain pyjama pants. To believe this we need to believe he attached himself to a low part of the car as it drove off and that he held on for the remaining distance it travelled - he didn't think to let go? (under the assumption maybe he could be seriously injured or his life threatened?) and he didn't yell and scream blue murder as it was happening? (we know he didn't because it wasn't in the police report or part of any witness testimony). Let's cut the horseshit - it's 6am and rain and it's chaos there due to the unfortunate incident that happened. Scheffler gets told to do one thing by another officer prior to his encounter with Brain Gillis and Gillis's shouting and waving his flashlight routine without any actual direction is more befitting of an event security guy to the point Scheffler believes he's actually still doing what he's told. Scheffler drives on and this idiot runs after him because that's what you need to do in America - "ain't nobody disrespecting my authority" and he either trips over his own feet or a curb and scuffs his knees and hands up. He's now embarrassed and tired anyway because he's been awake since 3.30am and all rational and calm thought has ceased in his brain that he isn't wired for anyway. The rest is history. The fact he even bails Scheffler up against the car and cuffs him hands behind his back is the cherry on the sundae. Oh and guess what, no bodycam footage - how convenient. This is the stupidest most overblown and dramatic sports related story maybe of all time. Imagine if this actually went to trial and wasted taxpayer money - that would be the only thing more stars and stripes.

I was involved in a deadly accident while driving a semi-truck that was governed to do only 69 mph top speed. I was in a 65 zone when the accident happened. On the police report, the responding officer said I was doing 80, a clear lie. Luckily, nothing became of the incident.
No charges were filed. But had I been forced to go to court, I would have had to prove to the court that I wasn't doing 80. Some police officers do lie, for whatever reason. The good side of this is that there were five police officers present.
All of them gave a report. On one of the reports, the officer said I was doing "69, not 80." Apparently he read the other officers false report and tried to correct it.

I think Bryan Gillis needs investigated.
He's a detective not at the accident site. But direction traffic. Past the 1st officer Scottie gave his id. Was directed to go around the traffic.
    2. Bryan specialty is traffic accidents. Injury to cops too. He's testified many times as an expert witness for lawsuits.
    3. He has a private company for the same.
    4. 2nd round. If he had ill intent. Had the 1st round. To scope out when scottie goes to the coarse.
    5. Millions are spent on betting. Vegas isn't above sabotage of any sport.
    6. Louisville police department is notoriously corrupt. 7 fbi investigations.
Cops prosecuted for sextortion case. They hacked people computers. Got their browse history and extorted them.
    7. Scottie lost a couple million on this. Maybe this week as well. The golf superbowl what they work all year for. Out the window. Can't get it back.
    Alot of damage done.
Every person on this planet can agree. This doesn't happen at a pga championship.
The cops job is to get the 125 + golfer to the course. And keep the fans off them.
