In this video I race my friend Chris who is a skier. It's a tough challenge but I think I can beat him down the mountain on my snowboard.
Skis are inherently faster than snowboards. Only way for a snowboard to win is with a large skill gap
Skiers have the speed for sure
I respectfully disagree, i was smoking skiiers on blacks last season (with moguls) i know this cause when we got to the lift they were “what are you riding!?”
@@Bad_Riders that just means you're a hell of a boarder! The world record speed for skiing is 30mph higher than snowboarding and it shows up at lower speeds too
@@dagreatghosface well i smashed that clocked in 43 mph on last trip and have hit 49/50mph. Chassing that elusive 60mph goal though. Next season maybe!!!
Basic skier > Basic Snowboarder, Basic Skier < Skilled Snowboarder, Skilled Skier > Skilled Snowboarder, but as there are more basic skiers (by basic for the skiers I mean also medium high skilled as skis are a lot more common) I usually find myself as really fast compared to the majority of basic and skilled skiers
I thought you were going to start at the sign not right after the lift since it takes a bit longer to strap in. Think you gave yourself a handicap 😂
Had to give Chris a chance 😉
There is no way snowboarder is beating skier with equal skills… I’m a snowboarder, but skies are waaaay faster!
With equal abilities of skier and snowboarder, a snowboarder can not win.
Might be true
I think skis are just objectively faster, take skill out of it.
I agree
I agree!
With a long board, good wax and relatively equal skill a board has an advantage in most conditions. A park board certainly won't do it but a directional camber 168 will. Pretty rare a skier comes close to us in any conditions (Trees, powder, fast or slow groomers) except for steep icy chutes where 2 downhill edges obviously outperform 1. I constantly cruise past skiers skating on flats so the glide you can get from more surface area is key. Most boards on the hill currently are short and not properly waxed so you don't see it as much.
Sking is quicker generaly I think both high level
I'll always go for snowboarding instead of skiing
Should have raced him on the Aeronaut. You’d gain some distance if you did some side-jumps.
Haha, the Aeronaut would have been faster!
Homie said he was gonna crop dust you☠️
Which he did 😔
Is that the indoor survival? What do you think of it when compared to K2 afterblack and others?
The indoor survival is a much softer flex compared to th Afterblack.
I’ll put my mortgage on the snowboarder.
So you choose homelessness. Skiers are so much faster than snowboarders, the only way to make it fair, is by giving the snowboarder a head start...and even more so if there are flat sections.
Having said that, as a snowboarder, I will always root for that.
@@MrBeatboxmasta *extremely loud incorrect buzzer, one edge vs two. Yes in flat sections a skier would win but if were talking about a race where its a slope all the way down id argue a skilled snowboarder will have an easier time bombing that hill.

A quick google search will tell you that skiers go faster even downhill. Your opinion does not supersede facts.
You're only focusing on one aspect by mentioning edges, while completely ignoring aerodynamics and control.
Skiers can go faster without worrying about catching an edge, while boarders need to manage their speed to avoid catching an edge. Boarders also turn slower on their heel edge than on their toe edge, while skiers can turn at the same speed both ways.
Skiers are also more aerodynamic.
Sorry for losing your house!
Ski would win all day
i would definitely not race
Which camera do you use to film yourself?
It’s the GoPro 11 in Superview
Snowboards are faster
Now if kev was on a mercury id say he had this… however he isnt so…
When are you coming to blue Mountain in Pennsylvania?
What’s the best month to come?
@@SnowboardProCamp I'm gonn say December or January we don't have the best record for snow but they do make the best snow in Pennsylvania.
Snowboard for fun, Ski for living😂
I’m rootin’ for the snowboarder, all the way!!
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻⚡️⚡️💪🏻
Thank you!
Physics prove that more surface area creates more friction, more friction means less speed. It's not rocket science. Even if the skis and boards had the same base grind and wax, skiers would still be faster. /end of discussion.
Physics probably also says more surface area creates more float... So maybe on hard packed groomers or ice that rule applies.
Fun discussion regardless... I can honestly say I've never had a skier glide past me on flats without them skating so whether it's Tuning, size, wax etc I'm not sure. Just a couple days ago a couple ski patrollers went past on a ski out at Lake Louise while we were stopped. We cruised past them shortly after while they were already pushing with poles. They never caught up.
Hi
Hey!
With equal talent the aero of the tucked skiing position just can't be matched by a snowboarder and the additional stability at speed you get from two narrow planks vs one wide board means skiers will get to the bottom quicker in almost every circumstance. It's just physics.
Maybe 1 narrow snowboard vs 2 fat skies wil even things out
@@SnowboardProCamp Nah. And it's ok that skiing is faster. Snowboarding is still, and will always be cooler. 🤜
Physics over egos.
Physics wins every time
With the right snowboard (besides slaloms) snowboarder will always win.
Bold statement
Very lol @@SnowboardProCamp
You lost on purpose lmao trying to make your friend feel good ;)
